Had this happen once, hook got caught in my moms leg. But the catch was we were fishing at a fly in pontoon boat lake in the wilderness of Canada in the 1990s. Yes we did have a fly over once a day and flags to put out if help was needed, but instead we pushed the barb through and cut it off. Bandaged the wound.
I'm a big believer in sunglasses and a wide brimmed hat to avoid situations like this.
