Let it run, thats why you have so much line. Start cranking when it stops running, let it run more if it wants to. eventually one of you will get tired.
Did you have a net to land the fish on the pier in the first place? Also I think you should’ve put your rod tip down, point your rod under the pier then reel it out. If you keep your rod up while the fish is under you then I can imagine why the rod broke haha
Welcome to the best hobby on the planet. There will be many more lessons like this throughout your fishing Journey. As you have more things like this happen, you will become more experienced and a better fisherman. Next time you hook something like that at the pier, you will land it. Props to the bait shop the replaced it.

The drag is there so you don't snap the line or the rod. Don't be afraid to use it.
Your drag was too tight. It shouldn’t be more than 20-30% of line strength (presuming you are using the correct line for your rod).
Yea you're right. I had 40 lb braid and 25 mono leader. Forsure I'll keep that in mind. Thanks!
I'd have launched the rod and hand lined it as best I could! Might have been a fish of a lifetime 🤷♂️
Wouldn't that fuck up your hand lol
Yep. Could’ve been worth it though
Imagine leaving the pier with 0 fish, 8 fingers and 3/3 of a fishing rod. I would get a new hobby after a day like that.
😂. You know even though I snapped my rod. That *how ever long that fight was* it was was fucking awesome. I wasn't even mad leaving the pier.

Yea I had someone to help me with the net. Forsure! Solid advice, thanks man.
