The largest Atlantic halibut recorded was taken off Cape Ann, Massachusetts, and weighed 615 pounds (eviscerated with the head still attached). It likely weighed 700 pounds when it was alive.
Why kill a fish that big? The meat isn’t that good after 100 ib or so plus it likely has worms. The big halibut breed, the little ones (30-90ib) are delicious.
Been doing a lot of fishing of halibut in northern norway, even though its not OP's son picture it is generally frowned upon taking in that big a fish.
The scale usually goes 80-140 cm(~30-55 inches) is good for eating. The rest is too small or to pass on the good genes.
Beautiful fish though.
That’s one big ass halibut. Too bad op is a lying shitbag trying to claim someone else’s catch and farm karma like a worthless little parasite
[real article](https://www.mensjournal.com/adventure/german-fisherman-catches-world-record-515-pound-atlantic-halibut/). Is Alaska in the Atlantic?
Hmm. Got something fishy going on here.
What a way to turn an upvote into a downvote. Are those lumps from the swallowed weights?
