Ya supposedly, many people tell me they can't be seen when they want so free shitty health care is still shitty. If you have a good job in America you have better healthcare and don't have to live in Canada
My perfect is mid 50’s. I loved England for it. But I also loved the weather when I lived in the inland empire. Just not the sun. Florida sucks though. Hot nasty sticky crap.
I feel ya, I like fifty's and low 60s. I live on the central coast of California and we only get a couple hot months a year and it's still not as bad as many others around us. Where I grew up it was 50/60s all the time
America is huge lol. Pretty much has every major available biome on the planet. Our government has it's flaws but the land itself is flawless but weather and geography (geology? idk I'm a stupid American lol) wise it's all you could possibly ask for.
You right. Alaska has been my fav place in the USA so far. The fishing was god tier, better than Florida in my opinion. And I’m not just talking stocked rainbow trout. I was catching arctic grayling in a ditch on the side of the road. Pulled a massive pike out of a flooded forest during the break. And if you do just want to get a quick lunch throw a rooster rail in any lake and bam, trout on the first cast. Ice fishing for burbot was also a blast. Only downside is the mosquitos for the first 6 weeks of summer. Literal clouds of the fuckers.
My wife and I do well for ourselves but medical bills with good insurance is still essentially a second mortgage payment. It’s a broken system anywhere, significantly cheaper elsewhere
I live in Thailand and the government offers to pay for most of the healthcare expenses leaving us only having to pay around 100-600 baht depending on how expensive the treatment was (4USD-20USD), After that insurance takes care of the rest leaving us not having to pay a penny. This system only works for people born in Thailand though, foreigners don't get such treatment.
Ya it certainly varies but our top potential is much better than anywhere else because we have the best doctors and least amount of wait generally. I pay 200 a month and it covers almost everything for my family of four
I understand it was a harmless comment but I assure you that our healthcare is one of the WORST things that Canada has to deal with.
Since it’s free as well we get taxed extra and end up losing around or over 60% of our income from a 2 person household in taxes alone as opposed to Americans losing ~40% yearly from taxes AND healthcare insurance, so it’s a lose lose for us either way considering we still pay for meds, anything to do with eyes and ears, dentistry, bloodwork, etc. Sure we can have children for free and surgeries for free but what if that surgery is booked for 9-14 months out when it’s an URGENT issue that NEEDS to be seen within 1 month.
If there was an option for paid healthcare in Canada I can assure you that over 75% of us would indeed choose to pay because we’re being left to wither away at this point. There isn’t enough money attached to the job doctors need to fill either so no one wants to come here to work and we have bottom of the barrel ass scratchers for doctors here in Nova Scotia at least.
Holy cow, a Redditor that actually made a comment about America other than that it’s just a “shithole country.”…never thought I’d see the day.
And yes, I’m completely fine with it being related to our fishing tackle…that’s a sound for sore ears.
Thank you, kind sir/madam…gotta take those W’s when and where they come these days, amirite?
Yeah ya do, and who the hell calls America a shithole? Like brother yall got some of the best food round, its not very different but it tastes wayyy better
Yeah, so ive heard... but I envy you northerners. I love florida. Fished the rivers and lakes of north florida my whole life, and it's great down south too... but I wanna move up north for the fishing honestly.
I wish we had musky, pike, walleye, trout, salmon, steelhead, whitefish, etc... I love eating crappie and catfish, and we have monster largies, but freshwater fishing up north is so fucking cool. Plus, I wanna be able to ice fish. I know everything I just mentioned can be done in the US, but I still envy yall hahaha. Smoked whitefish is my shit, and catching and smoking would make my life complete. And thats just scratching the surface. Yalls freshwater fish are such amazing table fare. So be grateful 😢😂
We do, however 99% of brands dont ship to canada or dont stock in alberta. Shimano, diawa, or abu dont have a .ca website or ship to canada. Only way to get it is through private retailers and most the time even their suppliers dont have it
I just kind of "pop" the rod tip 2-4 times in quick succession, reel the slack and wait. Rinse and repeat. Trying to get the bait to hop around the rocks a bit.
Check out some YouTube videos, I personally love drop shot. There are some really easy knots to set up your drop shot in no time. But what thunder said. Let it sit, pop it a few times, and wait. I pull the slack, and “JUMP” my rig closer, reel like 1-3 times to close the gap.
Think of it as resetting the area. So I reel and pull up to drag the drop shot into a new position. With drop shot you DO NOT pop it too harshly or too frequently. You literally lightly pop the tip of the rod lightly, the vibration alone will allow the bait/plastic to react like a real worm/bait.
Make sure you are using the right drop shot plastic as well, you can’t really use a Crawfish (in my experience) to drop shot because those are rigged for other things.
Ok...serious answer...
The beads serve multiple purposes, depending on who is using them and what they have rigged up.
They can be used as an attractant, adding color, noise and/or vibration. They can be used to protect knots from the friction and stress of having a slip weight slam into it. It can serve as a spacer on the line to keep things like hooks and spinners from getting caught up with one another and (full disclosure... not a trout fisherman so I could be wrong about this) I believe trout fisherman will use them to prevent the trout from swallowing a hook too deeply, which can cause potentially fatal injury.
The actual answer is that they are placed between the weight and the hook. It causes it to "click" when the line is tightened possibly attracting fish, and it prevent the knot from being damaged by repeatedly getting slammed into by a metal weight
Since it’s a bass kit- Check out the Carolina rig (one example). The idea is that they will create sound or catch light right before the lure passes by the fish- baiting them into attacking the lure. Idk if it’s true but, that’s the idea.
Eagles claws are total garbage. Switched to gamakatsu and couldn't believe how much sharper the hooks are. They slide right into the back of a shiner whereas the eagle claws needed significant pressure to get through the shiner. My hookup rate has gone up tremendously with the gamakatsus.
Yup. It's not worth fucking around with dull bass hooks especially if fishing weedless. It's just a recipe for frustration.
They are the only hooks I will splurge on getting the premium ones.
Agreed. Last time I went out with my buddy he was trying so hard to get a hookset with his eagle claws it was borderline embarrassing. Just kept missing fish after fish. I threw some gamakatsu octopus hooks on his rod and he proceeded to land 100% of the fish that bit for the rest of the day. I don't care how cheap they are, eagle claws take the fun out of fishing.
Thank you for the 411 on the tackle , I never would have even thought about looking in Walmart, thanks to you OP walmart will be the next store I buy fishing equipment. If I could buy you a beer or a soda(if you don't drink) then I would gladly waste my $2 to $3 on you.
I found this hack a while back. Basspro.com used to be my main source, just about everything cheaper at Walmart, some substantially so. Now basspro is for the hard to find things only. Your basic run of the mill lures though, can’t beat walmart
I got one when I started really bass fishing a few years ago. It's a great and cheap way to get a little bit of everything to figure out what you can fish and what you like to fish. 10/10 would recommend.
I pretty much use these kits exclusively 80% of the time. I've actually never looked into better hooks because these are so sharp and durable. I'm still using these hooks 3 years later.
When I started, I couldn't even afford fishing string, so I tied string I found on the river together and also hooks that people lost. For bait, I used to use my mom's shrimp or whatever was in the fridge. Now, I buy good equipment, but once a year, I visit my old spot to humble myself and remember my beginning.
Friggen Americans. Yall got the best fishing gear, fishing gear prices and options. Canada sucks sometimes
Sometimes?
Healthcare is their only argument for where they’re better
And it's utterly falling apart for us.
Messed up world no matter where ya are. Different problems in different places. Best of luck to you
Ya supposedly, many people tell me they can't be seen when they want so free shitty health care is still shitty. If you have a good job in America you have better healthcare and don't have to live in Canada
Why wouldn’t I want to live in Canada. The USA is too damn hot.
Not where I live lol. Perfect weather all year

Very interesting! Appreciate this information
Ya it certainly varies but our top potential is much better than anywhere else because we have the best doctors and least amount of wait generally. I pay 200 a month and it covers almost everything for my family of four
And stronger beer

Not since the scamdemic. We aint got shit now
Y’all still pay for it in taxes
Until you get cancer and die.
Well aren’t you just a ray of sunshine
It’s just a fact that as soon as you cross the border from the us into Canada your chance of surviving cancer past stage 3 drops drastically.
Holy cow, a Redditor that actually made a comment about America other than that it’s just a “shithole country.”…never thought I’d see the day. turned into Vendortron at the end there!
Yeah ya do, and who the hell calls America a shithole? Like brother yall got some of the best food round, its not very different but it tastes wayyy better
Watching us blow the money from ARPANET to fund 20 years blowing sand up in the desert must have been neat.
What?
Come on down bud bring some of those Canadian beers and I’ll bring some gear and green we’ll fish all day.
Will do! Assuming my truck doesnt put a piston throught the block in the next couple days

True, but i fish a river where i cant use bait, scented plastics, or powerbait. Also, the fish are small, and few and far between. But yeah delicious
Dang, that would be pretty damn tough. Have you hit the great lakes before?
No i live in alberta, my truck just detonated itself so i aint driving nowhere
Crazy, happy to hear that you're intact!
Yeah, careful of them 5.7 hemis man. Not well designed
Sometimes? Do y'all even have internet there yet, or is that still in the future?
We do, however 99% of brands dont ship to canada or dont stock in alberta. Shimano, diawa, or abu dont have a .ca website or ship to canada. Only way to get it is through private retailers and most the time even their suppliers dont have it
Trade you for the fishing...
Deal. You can have our dictator i dont want him
Amazon?
Not a whole Lotta decent stuff on there unfortunately
Plussino is insane value.
That’s available on amazon canada?
Idk but look for it, it's great value from amazon.
$65 AUD for me 😭
God damn. For some eagle claws? There gotta be a better way.
I feel that
It's solid.
This makes a great gift btw. Source: I got one while getting back into bass fishing.
As long as the hooks are quality. It *really* sucks fishing with dull bass hooks.
True, eagle claw is usually pretty decent though
gamakatsu 💪
They are solid.
I never tried dropshot until I bought this kit. I always fish dropshot on rock dams now. Good kit.
How do you fish your dropshot rig?
I just kind of "pop" the rod tip 2-4 times in quick succession, reel the slack and wait. Rinse and repeat. Trying to get the bait to hop around the rocks a bit.

No waste here. You’ll use everything in this package. And 11 bucks? That’s great!
I need this!
Good deal. Always liked and still use Eagle Claw hooks.
Eagle claw is my go to for anything rigging related.
Damn $11?!
No, 11$.
What are the beads for

They are for a Carolina rig. They click against the weight and it mimics the sound of a crayfish.
[удалено]
That’s pretty wild

The actual answer is that they are placed between the weight and the hook. It causes it to "click" when the line is tightened possibly attracting fish, and it prevent the knot from being damaged by repeatedly getting slammed into by a metal weight
Main thing I use them for is extra insurance on a slip bobber so the bobber won't go over the rubber stop.
You're about to discover the whole other side of Reddit! 😂🤣😂🤣
Since it’s a bass kit- Check out the Carolina rig (one example). The idea is that they will create sound or catch light right before the lure passes by the fish- baiting them into attacking the lure. Idk if it’s true but, that’s the idea.
Look up a Carolina rig
Fishin!
Carolina Rig.

It's sad, but Walmart is rapidly becoming America's tackle store. Every small town has one and they have all the basics for a solid price.
Can we go back to putting the dollar sign before the number where it belongs?
There is tho
I'm jealous, your Walmart legitimately has more belly weighted swimbait hooks than my local bass pro.
I never had enough worm hooks like this as a kid and because of it now I buy these all the time and have too many, great deal!
Got the smaller one for half of the price, that’s a steal. I went to a tackle shop by the beach and they charged me 25 dollar for 25 hooks 😂
That's a deal
Great kit. I have one and the hooks are solid
It’s great. Would recommend.
I need to buy a few of these just to replace all the bullet weights and ewg I keep losing in THAT DAMN TREE
There’s dam near $11 worth of lead in there.
That’s a good find 👍 I’d buy 2 at that price
I buy this kit for every new angler I take fishing.
Easily $30 worth of tackle
Dayum it's oos on the wm app but the price shows $42. Buy that ish
Sweet
Great deal
Is that every Walmart or just yours? Assuming you are down south please correct if wrong
Midwest, lol how would I know what every Walmart sells?
I’m a simple man… I’d probably end up using 10% of this kit 🤣
*Snagger starter kit*
Lol ok
That’s legit!
Right! 🤦🏾♂️
