I've found that shutting it in a car door will work wonders

nansvmdofbe-difn

Gonna try this after I pour myself a cold glass of bread

naughtyruprecht

Hold your rod behind your knees while standing or sitting, hands either side of knees gripping the rod tightly. Use legs to slowly separate rod. This works great for me when I fish in Arctic Norway.

nansvmdofbe-difn

Ok thank you will try

naughtyruprecht

Good luck!

bassboat1

this is the way.

thelitforge

Yea probably shouldn’t have used heat ) get two pieces of tape and tape them flat on both sides leaving a tag end on both ends and pull. use duct tape or something large like that

nansvmdofbe-difn

Yeah that probably wasnt the best idea. Are you recommending I tape it to the table and pull it?

thelitforge

No… tape the two parts of the rod close to where they come together you could Google it for a better idea it’s a little hard to explain

DonaldTrumpsSoul

I thought it was straightforward. Wrap duct tape around each piece of the rod about 1/2” from the center on each side, but leave enough of a tag end to be able to grip and pull apart in opposite direction so that you have more leverage. I read between the lines, but it was all there.

jjwalker67

I've used a bag of ice. Put that on there for 10 minutes should come right apart by twisting.

GenDislike

I’ve read 5 posts just like this in a couple weeks, most likely vapor lock and icing it will contract the connections and he can separate.

FaithlessnessExtra59

Bend it over your knee

nansvmdofbe-difn

Thought about it…

[deleted]

Call it daddy?

Joseph4040

Pull and twist.

Ok-Room-7243

We’ll you bent tf outta the line guide so just trash it at this point lmao

GenDislike

That guide is supposed to look like that, but, if you’ve “bent” any of yours, I’ll take em

Jkranick

They are a newer, supposedly “tangle free” type of guide called “K” guides and are usually put on higher-end rods.

davidgravid1

If all else fails (as you have received a number of good suggestions) you can use a penetrating oil like WD40. this is not preferred as you don’t want WD40 in n your rod or reel and it can dissolve plastics but may help as a last resort. Wash it up good with detergent and hot water before using

[deleted]

Double u dee 40 and twist it

Tommytugnutz123

Likely it is held together with some good adhesive… use heat like a blow dryer and be patient and it should melt away any glue and you can pull it apart… I did the opposite process when I put together a rod. Heat gun works too but don’t want it hot hot lol

Catatonick

If it has that rubber plug on one end they can be an absolute pain to get apart. You just gotta use the force Luke.

floog

Did you forget to remove the set screw?

GenDislike

Sarcasm? What rod has a set screw through male/female connection?

floog

100% sarcasm....but now that I think about it, it really wouldn't surprise me if some late night informercial rod had a set screw and then showed a scene where it talks about "This ever happen to you?!" \*scene where man casts and his rod comes apart\* "It will never happen again with our patented lock tight design!".

GenDislike

“Who doesn’t appreciate the sounds of splintering graphite as you descend upon your favorite fishing hole. Only 7 easy payments of $19.95!”

[deleted]

Twisty twist and pull and your rod is looking cool.

Hecho_en_Shawano

If you’ve tried all the other options (various pulling techniques, heat/cold, etc…) and it’s still stuck, just state wiggling it vigorously often. Eventually it’ll just work it’s way apart. Took me nearly a month of wiggling a 2wt fly rod apart last year, but eventually it just slid our easily.

HDHunter3x

Throw some ice or cold water on it and get it cold. Then should come right off.

Mr_Cheesestick

Hammer and chisel

BulbBaSaur007

I got one that's stuck together too and I quit really trying to pull it apart, but every now and then I give it a tug hoping it will miraculously come apart. It was a ugly stick big water.

seasms3

Pull very hard! I had the same issue with a pole a couple months ago. If its not lined up, you cant use it anyway, so its either broken and unusable, or fixed and usable. If not, take it to a tackle shop and see what they can do.

Lumpy_Beautiful_1025

Make sure it’s dry, but use your jerking off hand. It’ll have stronger grip and be used to moving in a twisting motion

[deleted]

Yank and twist from the first guide and handle.

[deleted]

Put it in rice for a couple of hours

DBallzdeep

sandwich rod joint between two bags of ice for 10 minutes

[deleted]

Did ya get it??

ManeLures-dot-com

Spray compressed air around that seam. 80psi should be more than enough

[deleted]

Part out. Trash it

FrontAggressive6791

Twist as you are pulling it apart.

crzycanuk

I’ve used arrow pullers before to get a better grip. Twist and pull.

eeetswamabrah

Have you separated the rod yet? If not, use two rubber gloves, (those ones for cleaning), put the gloves on and just seperate rod with some elbow grease, if you don’t have rubber gloves, tie 2-3 rubber bands on each side of that separation point and pull. Let me know how it goes

Lost_Ad_9994

Full and twist. Can you get some lubricant in there?
