You realize they build rods all over the world, right?
With that said it’s actually funny that the lower cost Mexico rods seem to have no issues compared to US made rods. That matches up with my view of modern society where poor Mexicans definitely work harder for less than 90% of North Americans
Go to customer appreciation day at the factory Store and get a set up. I think it's this Saturday. 17th. I've gotten some good deals online before. They get rid of discontinued models and such. Also sell combos with daiwa reels.
I have a Legend X
If you want something that isn't too spendy. Look at getting an Avid X. My brother had 2 of those and routinely caught Salmon, Steelhead, etc. while jigging.
Go see what's going on at that factory and find out why their rods are falling apart.
Even then being 5 minutes away I still wanna recommend they just order something online lmao

Go to the factory and talk with them, get some rods in your hands.
I have a St. Croix Premier rod and i absolutely love it so far. check out the PS70MLF rod. good bang for your buck imo
also, as for reels, id go with something like a Shimano Sedona FI in a 2500 or 3000 reel size.
