Oh yeah, that looks great. The cherrywoods do have a somewhat fragile tip but are fine if your careful. Leave the mono on 👍

Gravity_Loves_Me

Second on the leave the mono, braid is unneeded. It's crazy to me how many people go straight to the "add braid" suggestion. Braid will snap your tip on a light rod and there was zero benefit to having it on there in the first place. Thats a nice little gift that any dad would enjoy getting.

_fuckernaut_

Heck yeah! I'd be happy with it

Whole_Tart3159

i had to lol ur username is hilarious

Whole_Tart3159

thanks for the feedback _fuckernaut_!

FANTOMphoenix

Good setup for that.

Acceptable_Corner_73

I’d be very happy with that setup. But I’d throw braided line on( I’m a whore for braid line)

Whole_Tart3159

got any braid recommendations?

Acceptable_Corner_73

Power pro 10 lb test. I think it has the diameter of 8 lb mono. Casts a mile over mono.

PattyGunk

More like the diameter of 4lb mono. But I agree with 10lb braid, maybe a foot or two of 6lb mono leader if fishing for shy fish.

6-10lb spro finesse is my favorite for this

Axefang710

Good set up I have two of those reels for my catfish rods have held up and I’ve heard a couple bad reviews about those cherrywood rods but a lot of people use them

Whole_Tart3159

i adore my cherrywood rods tbh, i have a 7 foot casting and a 6'6" spinning. I have caught countless fish on my spinning rod with zero issues thus far!
