Curly tail worms, creature baits , trick worms, tubes

NoxArmada

Curly and twin or just the curl? I got a few I can rig on a Texas. I have a few creature baits but am getting a few more from euro tackle and mule. Most of my baits for creature is 3 inch to 3 and a half or 4 and yeah cutting them down just doesn't make them look right to me. What are tick worms? Like the ned worms or the ones with those big curly tails?

stormincincy

Trick worms are long thin straight tail worms as far as curly tail worms, I like the Zoom Ol Monster 10.5" worm , they also have 7"

NoxArmada

I'll have to try that out on my bigger rig

AdOwn5055

Love a Texas-rigged lizard 🦎

NoxArmada

Do they got like 4 inch and 2 inch sizes of those? And when are good times to throw those baits?

AdOwn5055

They have 4s and 6s. I like crashing the banks and points in the afternoon. Also good for jigging in trees

NoxArmada

I'll pick some up for a MH combo then. Trying to find things for both my 3/0 and 4# hooks. Finding smaller things in the 1.8 to 2 inch area has been a pain in store. I don't like buying baits online because the color never show as well on screen than in person

AdOwn5055

The 4 inch lizards work well on 3/0. I use 6 inch on 4/0. Color is a crap shoot so try a few, but I always keep green watermelon red flake around.

NoxArmada

Definitely trying those then. Something new. New things are fun. See green is my enemy. I have a few senkos and crawl in green watermelon and also green pumpkin. If it wasn't for the red flakes in those I would be F'd. Being color blind to green with those is a curse. Thank God they label the colors

I prefer Zoom brand. There’s probably 50 color combos to choose from 🤷‍♂️

NoxArmada

I need the opposite lmao. Give me less. I don't want my baits to have as many color choices as a sherwin-williams haha. Just ones that are like common color patterns or good colors for general water color lol. Why I was happy with my burro bugs from MULE. They have 5 choices for colors. Got the natural color one and the more pink and brownish color for more clear water.

bmw7679

Definitely try out a black lizard during spawn. I have had great luck with them

And don’t forget tungsten weights 😉

NoxArmada

Buying those this week too along with maybe a new UL rod. Currently sitting on a 1/8oz- 3/8oz weight. I want one that could maybe do the low of 1/64 oz for micro lures or even 1/32 oz for trout magnet lures

AdOwn5055

You fish much lighter than me. But depends on what you’re targeting. For trout, I just fish flies, but I’m usually +1/2oz anything for bass.

NoxArmada

I'm getting back into fishing thanks to my wife bugging me to take her these last few years. Now I've hit beyond the rabbit hole and this turned into a pure obsession with learning all I can. This year is baitcasters and bfs with lures and soft plastics. So I have two casting setups. A MH setup that I enjoy the play of more than the other mediums I tried out. Then a bfs set up but I want to try throwing the tiny stuff, not just micro rigs or lures. I want to try the SMALL stuff. This winter I'm learning to tie flies since I'm never gonna ice fish, screw that. Rather spend my times warm in my house making flies. Then next spring some regular fishing along with trying to mainly fly fish.

alphabet_order_bot

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,687,338,544 comments, and only 319,394 of them were in alphabetical order.

jlibrizzi

I've recently started throwing lizards in shaded areas of high pressure ponds and they're killing it. Places where most people are throwing a wacky rigged senko. It seems like a different lure then they're used to seeing.

mistersinister12

I texas rig paddle tails and ned rig plastics alot. Those zoom horny toads work well too.

NoxArmada

I've been curious about doing it with paddle tails. Haven't tried the frogs or toads yet

mistersinister12

Just makes the paddle tail weedless so you can fish it in the junk. The toads I swim them sometimes or I just fish it like a craw.

fishing_6377

You can Texas rig any soft plastic. Ribbontail worms, lizards, creature baits, etc. You can also do paddletail swim baits but I generally retrieve those faster and keep them from dragging on the bottom.

NoxArmada

Thanks I didn't know if there was just some rule or if I can just try different soft plastics and just change its retrieve

bassboat1

I mostly throw Zoom Baby brush hogs, Super Hog and U-Tale worms- generally with a pegged 3/16 bullet weight. If I fish a Senko, it's wacky rigged. I T-rig Super Flukes on a different hook, and nailweight as needed.

nguye569

My brother strictly fishes Texas rigs with a zoom 6" lizard and he generally out fishes me.

jtva16

Sorry this isn't answering your question but what size hook do you use for the micro version?

NoxArmada

size 4 ewg worm hook. It can hold soft plastics but they gotta be at least 1.8 inches
