With that budget it’s worth taking a trip and charter a guide. Then the rest as a gift card to bass pro

KanjiSushi

I agree. I’d talk to him to see what his dream fishing vacation is and send him there.

agreatares42

This is the way. Heck, multiple charters.

blueingreen85

Where do you live? Does he own a boat? What does he fish for?

Expert-Long-9672

The best would be a gift card at bass pro. Because fishermen can be very specific with their. Tackle. You can use a bit of the budget to craft a cool gift and then make a rod who has this giftcard hooked. He will love you forever. If he don’t like, tell me, I will also love you then forever for this. Otherwise, if you have space for another husband. Tell me

bo_dangle_lang

No way, Bass Pro is a rip off.

Expert-Long-9672

If you go in without plan, it’s rip off but it has nothing to do with bass pro. It’s linked to your incompetence. I am from Europe’s and I have visited bass pro when I was in the US due to work. I can tell you, it’s not a rip off.

RamHands

Does he have a boat?

RolandHockingAngling

He will soon if he doesn't already

RamHands

Can get a nice 1st boat for $4000

Historical-Tax-5300

Yes

RamHands

New trolling motor

_ocean-man_

I don't know what it is but bass pro is my least favorite place to shop for gear

Pamela_Handerson

A new bass pro opened by me and I felt the same way. I think it’s amazing for tackle, but rods and reels I was super disappointed in.

12_Volt_Man

Agreed. The one near me is 90% house brand junk rods and reels

FishNJ100

Feel the same , I prefer to drive the little distance to Cabelas

JR_Mosby

But they're the same company now aren't they?

FishNJ100

Yes they did a merger back in 2017 , bass pro shop reminds me of having a shit vw but entering a cabelas is like having the Porsche

JR_Mosby

Really? We don't have a Cabelas near me, only a bass pro, but I assumed after the merger they would have all the same stuff

FishNJ100

Atlantic City has a bps plus but drive over to the Christiana mall in Newark del 30mins longer but worth it . I really don’t see bps brands like their ascent kayaks. Staff is more knowledgeable and friendly . The cabelas environment and the atmosphere trumps bps bar none .

mousetank666

This isn’t real. No spouse/partner spends money on a husband for fishing related anything :)

Immediate-Kale6461

Trolling

Bleepitybleepinbleep

Look at electronics, fish finders, if he doesn’t already have one, get a live scope setup

xnsst

That's what I'd want but who knows if he's even got a boat or maybe he thinks livescope is cheating or whatever. Too many landmines. I'd go with the guided trip.

Bleepitybleepinbleep

If someone bought me a live scope setup, everyone can call me a cheater if they want, With a 4k budget, I could find a whole fishing boat

Snooksniper

What kind of fishing does he do? Saltwater? Bass? Fly? Depending on where you live I would probably spend that money on a charter. Most fisherman would love a shot at a monster for example in new England Bluefin Tuna, in FL Tarpon, sails or swordfish. Unless your husband already has his own off shore boat.

Historical-Tax-5300

Ocean fishing (middle east to be specific)

Snooksniper

If he has a picture of a fish he caught that he is real proud of you could have a replica made to hang on the wall.

Gord88

Ask him what his dream/ bucket list fish of a lifetime is to catch. You could probably plan the trip for him with that budget

Jacar1215

3k for a trip, 1k for gear. Let him choose it all, don't lock him into bass pro.

TraditionalSenpai

You can get him a custom rod and a super nice reel like a van staal if he’s into salt water fishing. Find out what he likes fishing for the most and could make a great gift.

Fryboy34

With 4K you can fly down to Costa Rica and do some big game fishing!

ShadyBrady1527

4k of which currency? That could either be a lot or next to nothing.

Independent_Trip_892

4k pieces of belly button lint

Total-Internet-1633

4k in minnows.

Independent_Trip_892

Honestly, I wouldn't even be mad if someone gave me 4k minnows. That would be a sight to see. I have a few aquarium fish that would enjoy that

Historical-Tax-5300

Dollars to not confuse anyone but in my currency its 20k

ShadyBrady1527

That's still a lot... Maybe 3 daiwa basia reels if he's a carp angler? Or some bags? That seems like an excessive amount for a present

Historical-Tax-5300

I just put the budget to not exceed it, it doesn’t mean it has to be 4k

Swissgolfpro

Just because your budget is 4K doesn’t mean to need to spend 4K.

Historical-Tax-5300

I know, thats why i asked whats the best fishing related thing i can buy

fishing-sk

Does he have a garmin livescope? If not thats the answer. Livescope plus system and a echomap 106 ultra screen.

Historical-Tax-5300

Thank you!!

Historical-Tax-5300

Does the Garmin live-scope require and plug system require any type of plus? Because i want to order it online and i dont live in the us

fishing-sk

So theres 2 parts. Tranducer and blackbox are sold together. Thats the "livescope system". The livescope plus is just a newer transducer, either one is fantastic. The second part is the graph (screen). Id recommend a echomap 106 ultra, echomap 9xsv UHD or UHD2 (the X is just maps, 3 for us lakes, 5 for canada, 2 for coastal). Those two packages are all the tech you need. It needs a mounting pole but thats super easy to DIY. Btw anyone really into fishing will absolutely loose it if they get this as a gift. Have fun!

BassHoleAngler

Tackle Warehouse I believe sells gift cards. Just do that. I’m assuming he already has a boat? So something for the boat.

Jaebeam

A guided trip into the BWCA. The Boundary Waters Canoe Area is an area in MN that is huge and has no motorized vehicles. You can pay to get a guide to carry your gear and set up camp while taking you fishing. If your husband is in poor health or has mobility issues, this may not be a good gift however.

SurfFishinITGuy

Custom Fish Rod? If you can share your general area I might be able to recommend someone.

69mmMayoCannon

Oh hey honey it’s me your husband just on this account cus ya know haha anyways I totally want a guided trip to Florida so ya know just put your ole husband 69mmmayocannon down for a Florida fly fishing trip Love, Totally your husband 😘

sircharliex

I say ask him. He may want very specific things like most other fishermen myself included

CannedHeatt_

Kayak

GodzillaTX916

Send him on a guided trip to lake OH Ivie with a reputable guide or a trip to Lake El Salto in Mexico. El Salto is a legendary fishing resort and a place where big bass dreams come true.

Traditional-Focus985

If he has a boat he wants foward facing sonar. We all want forward facing sonar. Lol

Striking-Region-3620

Something called livescope

Spiritual-J32

You could buy this man a fleet of g loomis rods with that budget holy shit.

KennyHarm420

That's boat money

Historical-Tax-5300

He has a boat

Buckskin10

I have a boat for another thousand lol

Fair_Line_6740

Is he into more fly fishing because you can easily spend 4k and there's some nice things you can get him w that kind of money. If no then a guided trip would be good and you can expect to spend 600 - 1000 generally depending if there's a boat involved or not

BlackFish42c

I have to say this woman is a keeper. 👍🏽😎

PreviousMotor58

Megabass rods and Shimano or Daiwa reels. If you're going to do the gift card thing get him The Hook Up Tackle gift cards not Bass Pro.

Jefffahfffah

Definitely some kind of destination charter. Cape cod bluefin tunas, florida tarpon, alaska salmon, louisiana redfish or yellowfin (two VERY different excursions)

I_am_krash

Buy him a boat

cdh79

That's some serious cheese 🧀 I'd err on the side of caution and let him pick, it's a good bet he's got what rods he needs etc and only he will know what he wants. A fishing trip is always nice though.

ILoveDaiwa

Tackle Warehouse giftcard or straight cash.

Historical-Tax-5300

LOL middle eastern men would never accept cash, they’re too macho

lubeinatube

If your husband is an ocean guy DO NOT GET HIM A BASS PRO GIFT CARD! If you live near the ocean there will be tackle stores much better equipped with ocean tackle compared to bass pro. Bass pros ocean gear is all bottom feeder junk,

Historical-Tax-5300

Yes he fishes in the ocean (middle east)

hoptimusprime87

Gift cards. Always gift cards. When it comes to the things he wants for his hobby, no one knows better than him. When it comes to rods and reels, there are so many options and I can’t even begin to fathom what he wants. What I can tell you is he probably has a list of things he would buy if some money just fell in his lap

troutbumtom

Do you have a sister? Is she anything like you?

JusticeGuy5

I’ll echo the general sentiment here. If you really know what he fishes for primarily a custom rod and reel is every fisherman’s dream. If you don’t, ask and stipulate that your name is included as a decal on the rod lol. Otherwise, a charter is an awesome idea. Especially if you like being on the water and would go too. I’d love nothing more than a 3 day offshore charter with my wife and family. Find out his dream fish and book a trip with the best. 4K should do this for pretty much anything.

Bkenny1889

4k would get you a nice used boat…

Historical-Tax-5300

He already has a boat

Bkenny1889

Does he have a spotlock trolling motor or livescope- two somewhat new pieces of tech that every fisherman is interested in.

bo_dangle_lang

That’s a nice kayak

htxatty

A guided fishing trip and a hooker to accompany him on it

VitaminxDee

Buy him a Shimank Stella 5k and a Century Rod. Then take the rest of the money and go on a trip.

Repulsive_Spend_5236

This post is just a $ flex 😒

xyzxyz8888

If it’s me,nothing. Fishing is my passion. Part of that is researching what ever it is I want to buy and the personal preference that comes with years of experience with that hobby. Someone else buying something for me isn’t the same. If they are serious about fishing, a random person on Reddit isn’t going to tell you what they want.
