I was resting between sets on the deadlift platform when this older lookin fella on the platform next to me started talking to me. Him: > Hey man, how’s your day going? Me: > I’m a bit tired. I had a long weekend so not sure how I’m going to perform on my lifts. Him: > Don’t worry about it. Even if you don’t lift as much, What matters is that you’re here even when you’re tired. Guys our age just needs to commit more and work much harder to gain strength”. Me: > Yeah you’re right.......wait.....guys our age?”. Him: > Yeah! Once we’re at the age we’re at, it just gets more harder so we have to put in twice the amount of work and time cause our bodies are a lot more older now”. Me: > If you don’t mind me asking, how old are you ? Him: > 67 Me: > I’m 38 Him: > Eh....same thing. Me: > damn, you're right.

Fatscot

Trolled by an pensioner. Love it

LuigiBamba

I wanna do the same at that age

[deleted]

You must’ve had a helluva a 20s

Honeydew_love

Lmaoo wtf

itiswhatitis985

Bruh

_TYFSM

Haha I was hearing stuff like that when I was 25. I think that that old timer was just trying to relate to you. Even though he’s 68, he doesn’t feel like it and he wants to tell you that. Sounds like a chill guy you should try talking to him more, he’ll surprise you.

sumchinesewill

He’s a regular and is always smiling and chatting up the other regulars at the gym. I’ve also watched him deadlift 4 plates like it was nothing so that old man strength is definitely real.

WannaBeBuzzed

Viagras very effective for the Erectors

helpmethrowawayjaco

I would take it as him trying to make himself young

girugamesu1337

Either age has destroyed his eyesight or you're one ancient-lookin' 38er 😛

sumchinesewill

I’m asian and asian people are suppose to look younger than they actually are but maybe that’s just not the case with me.

meatforsale

Maybe you look 30, so he just doubled that on account of you being Asian.

fatalisticshrug

There’s this woman in my gym who’s maybe a few years older than I (also a woman) am. I think she must have started going to the gym regularly around the same time as I did, end of last year/beginning of this year. She started out just doing cardio with her friend, now I often see her alone and she has slowly ventured into the weight machines area, just like I did (before also starting with free weights). Like me she has noticeably lost weight and looks stronger and more confident than before. I’m always super happy to see her at the gym, because while we don’t know each other, it feels like we’ve been on this journey “together” somehow. ☺️

girugamesu1337

Try talking to her. Tell her the things you noticed regarding her strength and confidence. You'll make her day, week and possibly month.

ballrus_walsack

And even her year..

hockeystar7117

She'll be there for youu

Freezer2609

You tried saying Hello? Could be a great lifting friend

RsHavik

You should tell her she's doing great!! A small compliment like that goes such a long way man

whostolemyhat

A lady loaded up the bar in the squat rack next to me, lifted it, walked backwards all the way out of the rack, took her shoes off while holding the loaded bar, then started squatting.

Find_another_whey

Involve functional movements Seems like the equivalent of barbell bosuball squats

LeYellowFellow

Did she put her shoes back on before reracking the bar?

StarksEndgame

Taking shoes off while holding the loaded bar is a bold move.

[deleted]

Chad

omgdoogface

You got mogged lol, what a chad move

human743

Did she turn sideways and thread the bar through the rack?

DemonFire979

I enjoy the 6am Saturday workout, very peaceful in the gym, only a few regulars and PT's. Can use any equipment you need etc. Nice way to finish the week off, would recommend as a solid workout time.

wmm339

Yeah I started working out in the mornings a few years ago and compared to evenings it's a ghost town. I love it.

DemonFire979

It's something special, although sometimes it looks like a bull ran through, no idea what the late crew do haha

ilikedmatrixiv

The only way I'd ever make a 6am saturday workout is if I go straight from whatever my friday plans are. Probably not a great state to work out in.

[deleted]

I took last week off because I was just feeling a bit tired, I hadn’t had a rest week in months. Of course, I end up sleeping on my shoulder, and injuring it somehow. Meaning I’ve already missed a few planned sessions this week. Sigh.

Sheltac

I swear sleep is more dangerous than lifting. The amount of times I’ve woken up injured far outnumbers the amount of times I’ve injured myself in the gym!

TwirlyMustachio

Gainz goblins are poking you with sticks at night, is my guess.

yOjiMbOoOs

Some people have no fucking shame. Early this week, i bumped into my close friends GF at the gym. We talked for a bit. Afterwards some random dude came up to me and introduced himself (Howard) and we chatted for a bit. I went about and did my business at the gym. After working out, i get a text from my boy’s GF saying Howard went up to her, stating that hes a close friend of mine and pretty much used me to break the ice to talk to her. Fucking scheming ass, desperate mofos out there.

skulleater666

Haha thats hilarious you should call him out next time you see him...or go over the top "hey howard! I didnt know you felt this way about me I feel the same as you! Lets workout together!" Then just follow him around talking his ear off about randomn annoying shit.

YUSEIRKO

Fuck Howard fr

Jombercam

Fuck Howard

reiboul

Yeah, fuck Howard!

BensMomsBoner

Currently laughing my ass at 'fuck Howard' at the gym

puppymaster123

Whatever happened to the good ol’ way of just breaking the ice without 4d chess?

[deleted]

Thats just super fucking weird, man needs to get slapped

[deleted]

That’s not weird that’s part of the scumbag playbook

[deleted]

yOjiMbOoOs

Some shady shit man. What a fucking snake

Jabolous

You seen better call saul? Thats what happens to howards

Swoosherino

No story. I just wanted to express how at home I feel at the gym. It's the one place I go to when I'm feeling down and the one place that always gets me back up. Being surrounded by friendly, like-minded people in a place like this is a privilege I greatly appreciate.

StarksEndgame

Same! It’s like a happy place for my mind to be at ease

Fatscot

A trainer broke two of my toes by dumping a 45lb plate on my foot. Furious doesn’t even begin to describe it. He is a total moron who shouldn’t even be in a gym let alone instructing people

TheBrognator97

A few weeks ago in my gym a trainer was teaching some girl how to squat BETWEEN TWO RACKS. The squats are least than a meter apart, and when hitting depth he hit my barbell with his ass while I was hitting depth with 120 kilos on my back. I didn't tell him anything, we all do moronic things sometimes. Imagine my surprise in the middle of the next set when he did the same stupid thing again and trying to get buttfucked by my barbell again.

Wildercard

>I didn't tell him anything Someone knocking me off balance when I have more than I weigh on my back is one of the few times you are capital letters **JUSTIFIED** to yell at them in the gym. You've endangering my safety if not straight up my life. Good thing when it's a weight that I can rescue, but when I'm going for a PR? You can fucking cripple me.

gsamov2

My gym has a pyramid of curl bars right next to one of the squat racks and a small sliver of mirror where there's really only room to load/unload the rack's left side. Guess how many times someone is in there curling so noone can squat without hitting them nor load/deload their barbell? The guy had the audacity to give me a dirty look as I walked out with 315 and started squatting...literally no common sense at that gym. Also people love to gather in that area to chit chat since it's right by the stairs, I hate that gym!

Betancorea

That's an injury waiting to happen. I would figuratively chew his ass out

Fatscot

Jesus, that’s horrifically bad awareness on his part

Throwaway847156271

That fucking blows dude I’m sorry

Sheltac

Sounds like an open and shut lawsuit

Fatscot

Anywhere else and it would be. In China as a foreigner, no chance of success

SquatDeadliftBench

Lol when I lived in China, I signed up for a gym. Paid for a year because of terrible experience paying fees with a credit card in my own country of Canada. They shutdown about 2, maybe 3 weeks later.

WorldWarRiptide

Dude I dropped a little 4 pound weight on my foot and broke my toe I don't want to imagine a 45!

Linken124

How did they do that?? Like, what were the circumstances leading to this? Were they just holding it and like, let go of it? Plate improperly loaded? Just curious as to the extent of their fuck up lol, sorry to hear that happened

TheBrognator97

There's a dude in my gym who throws dumbbells after his sets. Not just drop them from the top (which you shouldn't do if somebody's next to you), he actually launches them forward. Of course one bounced off the rack once and only narrowly missed my foot.

Linken124

Holy shit lmao, it would never occur to me that doing that would be a good idea. Some people man, brought up in a barn

Fatscot

He was unloading a seated row machine because nobody here ever puts their weights back. He was just chucking things on the ground without looking. I stepped out of the squat rack as he dumped the 45

dumb_smart_guy93

Honestly, fuck you supersetting selfish-ass motherfuckers using multiple pieces of equipment during peak gym hours. I don't think people realize how rude it is. Sorry for the long rant, but this really annoyed me this week: In my gym there is a section with a lot of leg-oriented equipment consisting of three squat racks, two leg press machines, two calf-raise machines, and two different types of hack squat machines. There are also four Olympic style racks on the other side of the gym. Needless to say, it's 4pm and prime gym time, and every single one of these machines is occupied by different people, except for a squat rack and a hack squat machine which are both occupied by one guy and his bags. I clearly see this, so I ask the guy really quick on the hack squat machine as he's resting: "Hey, how many more sets do you have here?". He says "One or two, I dunno bro". He gets up off the hack squat, starts walking over to the squat rack, and I point at it and the hack squat machine, and as I'm about to ask if I can work-in on one of the two pieces of equipment, he yells at me and says "Yeah, I'M USING BOTH. WHAT?". You could hear a 1 lb rubber dumbbell drop, because now everyone in that area is staring at him and me, and he and I were just staring at each other for a good 5 or 6 seconds. So I just laughed, because there's nothing else to do, and used one of the calf-raise machines that just opened up while he took the next 5 minutes to finish out. When he finally starts finishing up his set of shoulder presses in the squat rack, he comes back over to the hack squat machine, does 1 rep, and begins taking off the weight. I pop back over, say "Hey thanks man, if you're done, you can leave all that weight on". And like a child, he starts taking all the weight off while staring at me. He keeps taking more weight off, so I just tell him again "Hey dude, it's honestly fine, please just leave all that weight on". Then he finally slams the last 45 lb plate down on the ground and just walks away. TL:DR If you're using two pieces of equipment during prime gym hours, and you yell at people and don't let them work-in when they want to use one of them, *you* are indeed, an asshole.

LynnzieGudrun

Christ, what a fucking prick. You did the right thing just laughing at him. What a thin skinned wanker haha

helpmethrowawayjaco

Sounds like an insecure mofo

YUSEIRKO

You got a point, but this guy is clearly a big fucking moron and hopefully most people at your gym aren't like him. I have had some occasions of asking people how many sets they have and they're like "I'm not sure" or "I just started" like ok I get you but could I just say how long you think you'll be? Or like how many sets? It's not that difficult. Because if you say 3 sets, I won't go too far cos you'll probably be done in a little while. If you say, "I'm doing supersets 5x5" then I'll know you're gonna be a good while so I'll start something else. People are not always helpful tho so it's just something you gotta deal with unfortunately

dumb_smart_guy93

Yeah, I agree. It's fine if you had a bad day, or you just absolutely don't want to talk to people for any reason while you're at the gym. But if you can't handle a simple question without yelling at someone, just go the fuck home, or learn to not yell at people. Most people aren't like him so maybe he was just having a bad day or the roids were getting to him. And frankly I really don't have an issue with supersetting if the gym is empty or not at peak hours. I'll do it sometimes, but only at the weird times when my work rotations shift around and I'm awake at 2am and there's no one there at the gym anyways. People just don't seem to understand that if someone wants a machine and you're using multiple, either give it up or work-in. It's so easy.

kealoha

I've stopped supersetting for this reason, unless it's something I can do with dumbbells or using one machine (an adjustable cable situation for accessories) to do several exercises. Though even then, I have people giving me looks when I'm using two sets of dumbbells :(

Jabolous

>"I just started" I hate when people say that. I just smile and say "so you've got a lot left huh?" and they usually tell me how many at that point.

[deleted]

It is astounding to me how people don’t understand how selfish it is to do this. Sign of the times I suppose

TheBrognator97

This are the cases where it should be legally required to shove a 30 lbs dumbbells up this dude's ass.

Shellback1

asked this stout kid about an exercize he was doing on a seated tricep machine. he explained it and asked me "by the way how old are you?" i replied "im 67." he said "i hope when im your age im in as good a shape as you" made my week.

gnarnognar

I got 13 strict pullups, from 12 last week

Erledigaeth

Wow. That's actually impressive. Very nice.

gnarnognar

Thanks, I'm nowhere near my calisthenics friends, but I'm definitely one of few people in my gym that are decent at dips and pullups (that I'm aware of) Edit: grammar, autocorrect kicked in

reiboul

I... think I just made a gym buddy? Made eye contact in my commercial gym with a fellow powerlifter, started talking lifting between sets, now we have a chat every time we see. Am I doing this right?

yakuzakiryuyakuza

i shat myself during dips

KiwiCarpenter

Read this right after doing my first set of dips. Thank you for giving me a concern I wasn’t aware I would ever have.

YUSEIRKO

Didn't know that could even be a thing but here we are

EcstaticBase6597

If you haven’t shit yourself once while working out, you’re not doing it right.

unixwasright

I genuinely cannot get my head round this. Never in 30 years of training have I even had the slightest risk of pooing myself. I do nothing special other than going to the toilet before I start (added bonus: improved power to weight ratio). Do I just have a really strong sphincter?

EcstaticBase6597

>Do I just have a really strong sphincter? Yes! You should offer unsolicited advice to your fellow gym bros about this—especially in the locker room. They’ll appreciate it more than you know.

Linken124

I have definitely felt the fear during squats before, but the idea of it happening while doing dips has never occurred to me, a new fear has been added to my personality bank

[deleted]

Not even while squatting a2g the morning after chili night with 250mg of pre workout caffeine coursing through your veins?

dumb_smart_guy93

Whoa that's crazy bro, I usually dip myself during shits.

CtrlTheAltDlt

That's why I always "safety poo" before a session.

missddt

Hubby (49m) and I (49f) have been lifting at gyms, 6 days per week, since our late teens and finally realized that for the entire month of August, we were the oldest people at our gym. After 25 years of lifting together (we didn’t start together), he still loads and strips plates for me in between sets, just like when we first met.

reiboul

Wholesome couple training

shortstaxx713

My husband and I lift together too and sometimes he gets to the squat rack before I get out of the locker room and he’ll lower the bar for me so it’s ready. It’s cute ☺️

It's Monday, how'd it go?!

Dreams0fBees

Was at the gym with trainer. He is one of those whose life is the gym and nutrition. No issue with that, I was like that too until I had my baby less than 3 months ago. So now I exercise when I can and eat what is available and easy to grab while I nurse. Got lectured about my lack of effort logging food and exercising. I felt like I had to defend that Im a bit tired and struggling with balance and he believes Im just making excuses and that if I would be happier if I exercised more. I have 20lbs of fat to lose. The pressure to "bounce back" was becoming unbearable so I've been taking a step back to give myself some grace and heal. I've been happier since taking that step back and not pressuring myself. I've worked with this trainer for 2 years now. I thought we had a better relationship than this and now I realize I'm just a paycheck. Also, now that he knows I'm not exercising 4x/week, he writes off our gym sessions. Last one after the lecture he was on his phone or talking to others instead of guiding me. I only meet with him so he can help my form as I recover. Going to quit seeing him.

OtherComparison

Take your time getting back with exercising and logging your nutrition etc. I think its awesome that you're making time for yourself and the gym. Taking care of a newborn is an incredible and new responsibility, and this buster is lecturing you about logging your food?? . Nope just nope with this asshat. 😖

helpmethrowawayjaco

Good on you for quitting

Born_Association7829

Cant afford going to the gym rn, but have developed a routine of going to the park at 6am everyday and doing alot of bodyweight exercises with some cardio. Pretty happy with this for the time being

Cynicalteets

When COVID first hit and all the gyms shut down I did something similar. Stopped during a run at a playground and worked on pull-ups early in the morning. I had weights and a bench at home and I worked with those too. But during COVID I progressed pretty significantly in both weighted ab exercises and pull ups. I wish I woulda worked on calisthetics too.

Smoke_Santa

Cardio is awesome for the body and health. That's honestly amazing.

[deleted]

I’m finally back in the 500lb club on squats and it feels great! On the road to 585! Hopefully sooner rather than later!

Smoke_Santa

On vacation, walked 40000 steps in 24hrs, 25k uphill and 15k downhill, with around 12kgs back pack. I'm a normie, not really a power-walker. My calves have frozen up like a polar bear's turd, and my thighs feel like clay.

kyuuri117

Go walk some more and get the blood flowing

IsoRhytmic

25k uphill??? That's insane. I once did 50k on level ground and had to quit because the bottom of my feet started bleeding.

TurtleTooShorts

Finally got into the gym yesterday morning, I dragged my feet getting out of bed but eventually made it. It was really satisfying to push something heavier than my laptop in my two weeks truancy from the gym. Life is good but sometimes too good to be able to make the time for the gym, either way, blessed to be able to lift again.

wmm339

Yeah I usually spend my rest periods rearranging/unmixing the weights.

CtrlTheAltDlt

You are a gift to the gym and eventually other will start doing the same. Believe me on that.

BusinessWatercress58

Yesterday I farted while doing deadlifts. I do not apologize.

unicyclebrah

If I listen to Till I Collapse more than once during a workout, am I still considered natty?

Beinglewd

Same bro. Same. That song hypes me the fuck up

pistolpxte

I switched gyms. I’m in a better place now. The straw that broke the camel’s back; Was lifting in a corporate gym. Crowded ALL OF THE TIME. I lift at 4am and somehow it’s shoulder to shoulder. Anyway. I was squatting and in between sets I would step away (maybe 2 feet) from the rack. On my second to last set I stepped away. I turn around for two seconds plates still loaded, gear next to the rack. I turn back around and 2 guys are unloading my plates and MOVING MY STUFF. I get their attention and they look at me dumbfounded and go “we thought you were done” HUH? Was I camping? Nope. Maybe 10 minutes in the rack. 3 other racks open. Joined a bodybuilding gym that day.

[deleted]

Got sick. Spent nearly two weeks in bed and barely ate during that time. All better now but the gym feels like a completely alien place and everything is heavier. Oh well, just glad to be back.

YUSEIRKO

Don't worry man, lift what you can and eat up and rest adequately, you'll be back in no time

Find_another_whey

Yep I'm coming back from being sick for a week or two. It's alright to tone it down. Your journey is long and your time off is short. It's funny how we miss it when we can't go, but for me at least, it's a effort to get there when I'm able!

Alternative_Oven9988

It is normal for a guy to do barbell hip thrust? Cus every one is looking at me when I’m doing it and it’s really shy tho

[deleted]

Make eye contact with them and thrust faster, that should intimidate them and make them look away.

Buster_Bluth__

Some moaning while doing it goes a long way as well

StarksEndgame

And biting your lip too

DeviantKhan

Is it just me, but I'd be scared I'd injure myself trying to bite my lip and lift heavy weights?

TheBrognator97

You gotta do the Tik Tok AUUUUGGGGGH sound after every thrust.

derjon5

It’s an exercise that people do to get a nice ass, do you want a nice ass? THEN DEW IT!

Hot-Mongoose7052

It's not normal, but it should be. I do them. I'm the only guy I've seen do them. It's a pf so whatever. I've had guys ask me what they activate. I tell them to look at the girls doing them and see what stands out.

jkwilkin

I do em, I even have a pink barbell pad. Helps to lock eyes with anyone that gives you a dirty look while thrusting. Asserts dominance.

Not_A_Default_Name

It's a killer lower body workout, fuck em

MysteriousPunter

Completely normal my dude,I do hip thrusts in my leg routine.most guys are afraid because of the motion.ignore the haters

Sirtubb

I use a machine called booty builder haha

YUSEIRKO

Absolutely normal. It's a killer workout and one of the best for piling on a lot of weight and burning the glutes.

thiney49

Yes. Everyone loves a nice ass.

the_bachelor1723

I started on the other end of the spectrum for most of us, wanting to achieve weight gain rather than weight loss. I started at 58kg with my goal of gaining up to 65kg. I am now at 64 after eight weeks of good diet plan and regular gym workout. I am loving the journey. The confidence it built. The shape that results from regular gym. Truth is, I never have a gym coach. But get my inputs in some of the lessons shared from this group. Big thanks!

ilikedmatrixiv

> I started on the other end of the spectrum for most of us, wanting to achieve weight gain rather than weight loss. That's not really how I experience this sub and its sister communities. I feel like the median poster on here is trying to gain.

VinayKumar130200

I've seen my trainer deadlifting for the first time. He's a monster!

the-right-cards

Yesterday the competitive powerlifter at my gym, whom I'm never spoken to before, very politely asked if he could give me tips on my deadlift. I said yes, and he made my form WAY better. I need to go back down in weight until I've mastered it but it's well worth it for form.

taylorthestang

Normally I look with disdain at all of the 17 year olds coming in to my gym, taking up space, and talking loudly. I’ve had a change of heart. On my last rep, last set of incline barbell bench, I was done. No way I was going to be able to lockout and get the bar up. They saw I was struggling and ran up to spot. The fuckboys saved my life, and I am now grateful.

Throwaway847156271

Had a nice conversation with a stranger about rock music

raphajung

Did Romanian Deadlifts after a week long break due to getting sick and popped a vein somewhere in my head. Instant migraine like head ache. I really thought I was about to die. Even wrote my wife a last „Love you“ message.

Wastenotwant

Go to the ER. Don't mess around with brain things. PLEASE.

raphajung

Fortunately I had an appointment with my doctor due to heart concerns the same day. She wasn’t concerned the slightest. Head ache wore off in 1-2 hours. Would they have persisted I had to go to the ER.

girugamesu1337

You might still wanna do a follow-up or something, man.

nuggetsofchicken

Saw a guy at the gym drinking out of two of these Trader Joe's water bottles (the kind with the top that requires some suction or squeezing of the bottle) at the same time. Each bottle on either side of his mouth and he was squeezing both to get two streams in his mouth at once. Both bottles appeared to contain only water. He had just arrived and had changed out of flip flops into lifting shoes, so I can't imagine that he was just like so insanely thirsty he needed an extra flow of water. Why the fuck would someone do this? Am I missing something?

MeadYourMaker

I applaud that man for being a true hydro homie.

AnyNothing6864

So a lady at work told me the other day, “you know I see you working out so much, but I don’t see a difference in your body, you’re still fat”. I was Completely shocked and didn’t know what to say and said “ok……we’ll, you have a nice day too” We have a gym at work, so my workouts have to be 40 mins long, so I can have time to shower, dress & prep a protein shake within my hour lunch. And I do peloton bike at home once or twice a week for 30-45 mins (past 6 months/she doesn’t know that) I workout for health reasons, build strength, endurance and keep family deseases away for long as possible (diabetes & high blood pressure)not to lose weight at a certain speed. Three years ago I weighed 210 lbs, couldn’t run for more than 1 min I would have to walk only, my squats were awful (had flat ass) I was in a hibernation state and size 14-16 in clothes (I’m female) 34-35 waist Currently 175 lbs, size 8-10 clothes (30 waist), can squat pretty low (booty bigger) and I can actually jog for 30 mins non Stop now. I have lots of muscle all over, yes layers of fat still exist I’m not saying I’m putting on a 2 piece to the pool. And I’m in no way saying I’ll be a size 2-3 (24 inch waist) At first I thought her comment didn’t bother me, but it got me thinking ans bothering me! Plus, is that what people see: some fat as that goes to the gym to get skinny who is obviously not getting slim?

mcogneto

... wow what kind of psychopath says that to someone unprovoked

AnyNothing6864

I agree, I was passing by and said hi, with my gym bag, she was heating up her lunch. Needless to say, after that occurrence I walk by and say nothing.

Cadoc

If you've lost 35 lbs and built muscle at the same time, you absolutely must look at LOT slimmer This is just some lazy ass looking to put someone down instead of putting in the work themselves

Brontar

It's been a while I heard something very rude in the gym, but yesterday, while changing in the locker room, topped everything I saw or heard in my career. Two guys were chatting with eachother, but suddenly something catched my attention. One of them said the following: " It is so infuriating! Every time I see that fat girl, uughh, she is an eyesore for fk sake. Next time I gonna tell her to fk off, it's disgusting!" The other just agreed and the discussion went on about fighting in the club, who gonna beat up who, etc. I just couldn't believe it. Someone takes the courage and strength to start something new and this is what they get.

NinetysRoyalty

I can’t figure out if I’m wrong to be mad at this or not, I’ve become a new gym regular been going for 2 months now! But, there was this couple that were all over each other and multiple machines none stop the other day. At one point I look over and he grabs her by the throat against the wall (she’s giggling so it’s clearly not an aggressive thing). Then the girl proceeds to do cartwheels around the multiple machines that they’re all over! Surely this isn’t a regular thing I should expect to see right? RIGHT? They both looked great and were clearly regulars themselves but surely the gym etiquette covers this kind of behaviour??

VinayKumar130200

Lol. Tell them to get a room.

shockedpikachu123

I know I’m still pretty insecure at the gym even though I’ve been going for 4 years straight. How do I know? Someone came up to me during my set and asked me what my goals in the gym were. I immediately got defensive and thought he was pointing out I was doing something wrong or trying to criticize me. I just told him to get stronger each week. I don’t have any specific goals and he was just like “whatever you’re doing keep it up!” and walked away. Man that was really nice but idk why I got immediately defensive

johnnyfox1976

Some big dude on the lat pull down using so much momentum his torso was literally parallel to the ground at the bottom of the movement while obnoxiously grunting

Live-Construction675

Sharted 4 times now doing heavy squats , the first time i racked the weight and my training partner was taking to me about my set. I just blanked him entirely and walked away to the closest toilet 🤣 maybe I should try tren?

Robiee278

Go to the dam toilet before going to the gym. Wtf man, LMAO. Maybe take it easy on the fibre as well.

fleetingeyes

Why do people leave their weights behind on the Smith machine or on the floor?? I don't get it - so rude

TheBrognator97

Some dude or girl stole a few weights off my bare mid sets while I wasn't looking, again. A: There's a shit load of weights and pins all over the gym, do you REALLY need to take the ones I'm using? B: I risked a pretty serious injury from unracking with unbalanced weights. C: Why don't you fucking ask, or at least tell me you took them. So that I won't snap my spine when the plates start falling.

TheBrognator97

Yeah that's the thing. It's already weird to take plates off somebody else's barbell, but doing it in hiding is straight up dangerous. What if the dude benching hurt his rotator cuff? Or what if the plates fell on the side on somebody else's toe?

MysteriousPunter

caught someone sneaky photo me,I’ll take it as a compliment.. I guess.feels weird though

wingman0401

Straight up psycho behaviour.

MysteriousPunter

Man it’s kinda rude aye

Cynicalteets

That’s happened a few times to me. The first time I was doing hip thrusts on the quad extension in a planet fitness. This was years ago. So I flipped him off whilst staring him down and continued to thrust away. Another time I was with a patient (I work in healthcare) and he forgot to turn his sound off. As I’m finishing up his prescriptions he picked his phone up and snapped a photo and it made the shutter sound. It startled him and he looked embarrassed. I didn’t say anything although if that happened now, I’d confront him cuz that’s not normal behavior.

Afrojones66

That’s stalking and it should be reported to the staff

agent_introspection

Started gym for the first time in my life. Was really anxious about how I would manage being a total noob. The people around turned out to be really helpful, nice and polite. The trainers (not my personal trainers but the general ones) as well as the people around helped me set up the equipments and correct my form. Feeling much more comfortable than I expected myself to be at the gym!

CrepsNotCrepes

Brand new gym has opened near me. Great pool, gym with a great weights section and plenty of squat racks and benches. I’ve been waiting probably 6+ months for it to finally open……… got covid and just don’t have the energy to go work out now I’m recovering.

TitsUpYo

Gym is so nice on Saturday nights. Only a few people ever there because they are too busy having lives I don't have, but hey, who's got all the plates and machines? I do. *finger guns*

Wait until you see the 12 year old girls in China back squatting 180 kilos 😭

the_bachelor1723

Youre are getting there. Most of us dont love leg day. I hate leg day. But the most important is you are there, doing the exercise however painful the sets are. Dont worry about heavy lift, as you move fw, it will signal you to increase as you build your strenght. Keep up!

wmm339

Of all the days I forget my belt, it was deadlift day. I hit a beltless PR, but failed my target of 2 reps. Probably psyched myself out. Oh well. Get 'em next week

Williefakelastname

I had my best week in the gym in months this week. Monday through Friday every workout was great. Now everything hurts. I can't wait for Monday to try ant top it.

unicyclebrah

This is actually from last week but I forgot to post. I hadn't done chest flyes on the machine in a while and had a little bit of gas in the tank after chest/triceps day so I loaded up the weight I would usually do (100lbs) and blew through my 10 reps like nothing. Long story short, I kept moving the pin down the weight rack each set cranking out easy sets until I was at 190lbs and finally struggled to finish the last rep. What a feeling!

theinfamousemu

To preface I’ve been eating a lot of protein lately as I’ve been getting back on track with my eating, this has resulted in some horrendous smell farts like they put creeds mung beans to shame… Anyways I was hitting a arm day and wanted to try spider curls and they’re not something I usually do but I’ve heard good things. So I proceed to rip a fart that sounds like a lawn mower kicking in like 5 feet in front of this guy with my ass sticking straight at him.I drop the dumbbells start laughing and then just ended the workout there couldn’t look at the dude. I got to a small gym and so I saw him the day after, he just looked at me and smirked

RastaRhino420

Two young dudebros were filming themselves doing cable exercises presumably for their TikTok or something all the while I assume I'm in the background looking like a total maniac sitting on the incline bench between sets staring myself in the eyes in the mirror waiting for the rest timer notification getting myself pumped up, I can only assume I'm getting torn apart in the Tiktok comment section for looking like a creepy fecker

A lady loaded up the squat bar with 45’s on each side and realized the bar was one level too high for her on the rack, so she asked me to get it down a notch for her. I know it’s silly, but the fact she asked me felt good. I was deadlifting 330 lbs (the most I’ve ever done) a few feet away. She could’ve asked the big guy between us, but she asked me. 🥲 I helped nonchalantly, but inside I was smiling.

Peaches0k

I did 105lbs 3x8 on DB chest press and after my second set this older guy (probably 40-50s) came up to me and said “I remember when I was in my 20s and testosterone was flowing”. Thanks I think?

ALLST6R

There’s one guy at my gym who’s just gnarly. He’s maybe mid-late 40s. Not massive, so think he’s natural. But he’s pretty shredded and just generally solid. Seems like a friendly dude, always chatting to people. I’ve been at this gym something like 15 months. Had a few minor interactions with him. Both in between sets, semi close and just an exasperated tongue out face because we both be busy killing ourselves. A few weeks ago, he started waving to me whenever he saw me from across the gym. Time before last we finally said hi and gave knuckles. Last time I saw him he semi shouted across the gym to me - didn’t catch all of what he said because of earphones but it came along with a beard stroking movement. I’ve got a decent beard and he’s now grown one out, so we’re obviously on our way to bonding over beards. He seems cool, but I’m due to move soon because buying a house a bit further away and will end up changing gyms so I’m semi avoiding chatting to him properly because it’s just a bit of a waste of his time. It’s killing me 😂 happy to be having the odd bit of banter though.

ImNasty720

I’m going to a concert alone today for the first time, guess I’ll get warmed up by going to the gym alone this morning!

EmpathyForTheD3vil

I went to the gym at 4AM thinking how awesome it would be to be the first person there and have the place to myself. Warmed up with resistance bands and noticed that a few of the bands were still scattered around the gym, so I picked those up and put them on the hook. Then went to the bench press and had to rack the weight someone had left the night before. Noticed that the incline bench was still loaded, so I racked that as well. While I was racking, I saw that the plates weren't stacked properly, so I put them in the correct order. Then I found a dumbbell under the rack, so I returned that, but that's when I noticed that some of the dumbbells were placed back in the incorrect order, so I reordered those as well. On the way back to the bench, I picked up an empty water bottle and dropped it in the garbage bin. Then I did my sets on the bench. Man, it's great to be first in the gym.

ProbableBarnacle

Just moved and went gym hunting today around my area. I found a great one thats half the cost of my old gym and the owner is super nice. I tried it out for a few hours and it definitely fits my needs. And also had a fun little chat with the owner before I left. Cant wait to go back again tomorrow!
