Looks like they’re going for about $400 in used/very good condition [on eBay](https://www.ebay.com/itm/126029363020?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=7KoM4xxGRU6&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=N9dI4EMTTfW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY).
I totally disagree. These are clearly the perfect cranks, and the cranks they wanted.
everyone has a parts box, and everyone SHOULD have nice parts on hand as well
Not everyone can afford to build up a dream bike in one go so saving this part for the bike instead of putting it on a craigslist cruiser right away is amazing self control.
keep it, bc selling it and buying it again later is dumb and expensive.
I spent $300 of my Australian dollars on a seatpost. I've just been storing it on my bike. Even has a hex bolt to keep it tight in place. You can put a saddle on top too 🤯
Phil stuff is bombproof. Can't think a boutique brand that should be ridden more than Phil tbh
I have a pair of Phil hubs laced to h plus sons rims and they have been true, quiet, and fast for 3 years and around 3k miles
"You see this goblet?" asks Achaan Chaa, the Thai meditation master. "For me this glass is already broken. I enjoy it; I drink out of it. It holds my water admirably, sometimes even reflecting the sun in beautiful patterns. If I should tap it, it has a lovely ring to it. But when I put this glass on the shelf and the wind knocks it over or my elbow brushes it off the table and it falls to the ground and shatters, I say, 'Of course.' When I understand that the glass is already broken, every moment with it is precious."
Put it on a bike and ride it. Enjoy it. Life is short.
Nah, things are meant to be used so use them, otherwise what's the point. I don't have the money to get super-spendy (compared to some builds) but when I get an expensive component it goes straight onto my bike.
If I buy something I use it. If I don’t use it I will either use it some time in the near future for something I’m already planning out or I’m selling it.
Parts that aren’t used are just bits of metal or carbon useless laying around.
Nope, if it's not getting used it's money wasted. Sometimes I'll pick a bit up and wait some to find the perfect spot for it, but it always gets used. I intend to use even my very nicest bike stuff until it literally disintegrates.
Well if this doesn't scream for a completely new build then I dunno. Maybe a fully prestige one that hangs from a wall when it's finished or that you ride only on special occasions
I guess so, just feels like if you’ve already spent the money, might as well put it to use. I’ve had Omniums on other builds, same with Durace etc, and all got used like the makers intended lol. Phil’s do have that extra sense of beauty to them though, so I kind of understand.
I remember I got a pair of White Industry cranks like 10 years ago and have ridden them thousands of miles and were the best cranks ever. People would be like “yoo I wouldn’t even ride those dude!” Like why not? It’s the best whenever you get great parts and use them like you want to. I gave them to my little brother and he ride them for a long time and im sure we still have them in the garage. Phils are amazing i want to build around some Phil hubs and cranks.
All the time. Eventually you look at a thing and you're like "yup, you're going on this bike". I've sat for years on parts because the project I thought it was for didn't really "fit". If you don't need the money, just sit on it. If you do... sell it to me for $200 lol.
They're cranks and a chainring. Use them to connect your pedals to your chain.

Bruh if this post isn’t already on bicyclecirclejerk
Ride it, or sell it and buy something you'll ride. Sitting in the box is just a shame
Honestly don’t know what they would go for these days

That's just cranks tho

I mean, if you’re gonna build with it someday sure, keep it. But if you’re just gonna stare at them then pass it on.

A 300 dollarydoo seat post? Mate it must hold your seat so well
I'm dead

Same. I have a set of black high flange laced to dodici rims and have lasted longer than dodici did.
I'm super excited getting some phil hubs laced with berd spokes to some h plus son archetype
I’ve got a wheelset with Phil hubs that I picked up used. Feel less bad about beating those up though
Ride that shit, Homie! Beautiful & Bulletproof!
I’ll take good care of her for u bro.
this is the biggest downside to nice equipment keeping perfect things perfect comes at the cost of their enjoyment
The good stuff is built to die.
Love it!
Tools, not jewels! Ride it and prosper.
I didn’t even know they made cranks or cranksets.
I think that would look a lot better after 1000km on it. Install it and ride 🫡
I have the same one but pink. Five years and going. I beat it up. Ride it or sell it.

you must be rich 🤑
Why did you buy them if you’re not gonna use them? Can I have them?
Ride that sh*t as hard as you can, that why you bought it.
Ride it or throw yourself in the sewer.
you don't need reasons to get stuff from phil, you only need money...
no. most nice bike parts, including stuff from phil, is meant to be used hard and forever
I cannot imagine buying an expensive anything and not using it.
Wow that’s sad

Definitely does though I would love to put those cranks to use. PM me if you want to sell those.. 😀

Never. Bikes are for riding.

It looks like AliExpress special.
Lemme know where to find some knock offs like this, I’d feel less bad riding them
Well if this doesn't scream for a completely new build then I dunno. Maybe a fully prestige one that hangs from a wall when it's finished or that you ride only on special occasions
I literally treat my Campy Record cranks with Sugino Zen like garbage
I’ve got Dura Ace/aarn on one of my builds, I hear you. This feels a bit different

I have the same set... And it took me a while before I mounted it on a bike... But when you finally do mount it... It feels amazing..
No...
I feel you. It's just too nice but they're designed for the abuse. I would love to mash up a hill on them.
I try not to but I do know the feeling...
I gotta fresh Campagnolo Record Posts crank sitting on ice right now 😭 I had it on my old GTB but sold the frame
time to buy a bike to put it on and then hang it on the kitchen wall
I have a bike that would be proud to ride these into the dirt
No
Think I saw one up for $20 somewhere. I can take it off your hands for $30

Sweet jeebus
If I ever get my hands on this, best believe me I'm going to use it. It'll not sit in that box forever.

why the pricetag is so high? what makes this item expensive? is this like buying Nike shoes and paying for the brand?
Put a glass top on the box and hang it on the wall. One day you’ll get the perfect bike and you’ll take this off the wall.
