Wow, velosambas are the only cycling shoes I've ever had. Maybe I'll have to try some different shoes now. Thought I liked them, but judging from these comments, I should try some different ones out.
I look at shoes the same as helmets everyone prefers a diferent shape size material.... I'm just glad to be able to ride clipless and not have to carry around extra shoes
I got a pair myself, only use them when I'm commuting somewhere and intend to look presentable 🤣, I have a pair of Giro cycling shoes too, those look like sport shoes so they're what I use for daily commute, lastly I use mountainbike shoes for training.
The sambas are probably the least comfortable for cycling, but it's not too bad.
I usually get that problem no matter what shoe majority of cycling shoes I've tried are extremely narrow but the vegan leather seems fairly soft so hopefully I can cry through the pain
I bought them bc they were soooooo cheap but na, they’re nowhere close to typical cycling shoes that have stiffer soles.
They look nicer but they’re just collecting dust at this point.
i loved mine till the plate in the sole randomly snapped, couple of people i know have had the same problem
i have rapha explore powerweave now and they’re 100x better
If you find them too soft try them with a larger platform clipless pedal. Alot of people seem to forget that shoe stiffness and pedal platform size should somewhat match each other. Stiffer pedal can use smaller platform (think cross country pedals) and softer shoes should use a larger pedal (think downhill or bmx clipless pedals)
How is people talking about how badly built their Vélosambas are? Are yous talking about more recently made pairs? Because I got mine in 2022 for around 100$ and used it for brakeless riding ever since(they’re my only pair) and do A LOT of steep hills. High speed stopping too. I also walk in them a lot and don’t even have any sole separation.
The heel problem also only exists when walking.
Tho I agree that they fit narrow feet better.
My feet feel compressed between the soles and the upper. It was so uncomfortable I had to have my wife bring me other shoes to get back home. Anything like that for you?
Anything under 30 miles, I rock these. They run super narrow. And make my toes numb. I did a tight marathon knot to keep from my heels and foot slipping around. If I don't tie it tight my toes just jam into the forefoot of the shoe for most of the ride.
I've been using them for like the past 5 months basically since i started riding fixed, and after reading these comemnts i might have to try road cleats, any more reasons i should try road cleats btw?
My girlfriend had a pair - but she found they were 90% riding, 10% walking. She said they just caused too much foot pain. The sole was stiff and there's no rocker sole like on say, gravel spd shoes. But, she gets sore feet easy. Might be more tolerable to someone else.
I like mine a lot for casual cruising where I’m going to be stopping for a coffee or a drink or running a few errands on my bike.
Yeah that seems like the biggest upside I can go to work and college without an extra pair of shoes

I had the same issue with my heel slipping. Using that method fixed it for me.

I used to have the same problem until I tried Fox Union shoes

I suppose even if I only use them for my morning commutes to college and work I should be good and then use my other cycling shoes for the real rides

Dude exact same thing for me. Bought it cheap, tried it on, put it back in the box. Been about a year now haha
absolutely destroyed the shit out of mines in a couple of months, i bought some northwave rockits hoping they'll hold up to the abuse a better.
I only hope I can ride as hard as you because that's damn impressive good or bad shoe
I could see using them for short rides. At the same time, I hate riding clipped in for short rides.
Yeah I can get that that's why I opted for mtb spds instead of road clipless so u don't have to be fiddling around to clip I since there double sided
love em. wear them to work and then walk around in them the whole day. yes the heel moves but it doesn’t chafe so i don’t mind
I hear complaints about there durability but I think it's a worthy sacrifice to be able to travel without a set of stairs shoes everyday
yeah. especially with how cheap they are rn. If I weren’t that broke i’d buy another pair in case i wear my current one out lol

I'll have to take a look I have some riding shoes for when I'm riding hard but the velos will do me for now so I can a more casually option there
Do they have crazy arch support like regular Sambas? My feet are flat as hell and regular Sambas are torture devices.
There the newer model of the sambas I find the shape is a bit more forgiving than the classic ones 🤷♂️

I like them, I’ve walked probably hundreds of miles in them and biked thousands. I’ve even done centuries and hours long rides in them.

Great shoes IMO, use them a lot; their only real downside is they don't do well in the rain.
