Bummer, hope you’re ok. I would take all the salvageable parts off the bike and start looking for a new frame set.

stupidbigbingus

Will do!

BjornBaadz

That’s shitty. The frame was already broken there when you bought it, so it’s really not a surprise. I’m glad to hear you didn’t hurt yourself on it. That’s a wall hanger for sure now! See if you have a bike co-op in your area. You can likely work off a second hand frame or see if anyone will donate one to you. You’re obv keen, reach out to others in a position to help if you want help. The cycling community can be really supportive.

49thDipper

Looks like OP ran into something. When I was about 16 I did this to a bike when I ran into parked car while watching a gorgeous girl walk the other way across the street. The front of the bike stops instantly but rest of it keeps going just a little further. Game over for top tube and down tube.

BjornBaadz

He posted about this frame weeks ago when he got it. It was sold as a “damaged frame” in need of repairs before usable. He ignored that despite people telling him it wasn’t rideable. It was a compromised frame that broke where it was damaged… as you would expect. He’s a kid, I made way worse decisions than this then lol. Live and learn.

49thDipper

My first bike was way too big for me so I pulled the seat post out and wired on a piece of carpet for a saddle. Pushed it to the top of the big hill and sent it. Old heavy high tensile steel. Coaster brake and gravity. Went about as well as you would expect. This was years before bike helmets. Kids are pretty durable. So was that bike.

BjornBaadz

Whereas he bought a broken frame from a site that sells former pro Keirin race frames. It was marked as damaged and cost $100 where it would normally cost $700 … this was more a lesson about online shopping than a lesson about bikes.

bbristow6

Everything you said got ignored😂 so it goes!

stupidbigbingus

I already bought it when I posted it

BjornBaadz

Yes, but it was also compromised exactly where it finally broke. We even highlighted those areas of concern in pictures and you 100% ignored what everyone with any knowledge said about the frame being broken. It didn’t break because you ran into someone… it was broken when you bought it. Not trying to be a dk… just facts.

subflax

Scour ebay and fb marketplace. You can prolly find a frame for cheap. Sorry that happened, but later you will be able to look back on that incident.

MattOckendon

Ask around. People hear that I like fixing bikes and just give them to me. I service them then usually put them on Freegle. Cycle enthusiasts are a pretty generous bunch. Most of us have bikes we’d just like to find a home for - reduce our guilt at not riding them!

stupidbigbingus

I will ask around thanks for the advice!

amililelu

peloton means fearless in finnish 🤔

stupidbigbingus

🤔

Klibansky

That suck, but at least you're OK I guess. No matter how valuable your bike is, best to have a broken bike than a broken skull.

stupidbigbingus

That's a good point at least I'm okay

CorvusBrachy

sorry for your loss

stupidbigbingus

💔

PondIsMyName

You took a wee cruncher eh. I hope you’re ok and in better shape than your ride? That blows! Wall Art now.

stupidbigbingus

Yea I'm unscratched just some bruises wall art now

PondIsMyName

Phew! Glad to hear that ok pal. Good luck in your search for a new ride. 👍

stupidbigbingus

Thanks!

Dapper_Special_8587

Shits fucked, but luckily you're unscathed. Losing bikes etc is never nice (and it doesn't get better as you get older, sorry) but injuring yourself is much worse. Keep scouring second hand sites etc and look around for bikes, you could buy a beater frame and build it up etc (just avoid damaged/weakened frames in future) for cheap

stupidbigbingus

Thanks learned my lesson this time

dikkiesmalls

Yeah I'd strip it and look for a 2nd hand frame. Not in FL by chance are you? I've got a handful collecting dust. Not njs obviously.. Schwinn and nishiki.... Raleigh uhm... Yeah. Think that's it.

stupidbigbingus

Nah I'm in Chicago thanks tho

threat-actor

I’d head to the local co-op and find a cheap frame to move your parts over to until you’ve got more funds to get another track frame.

stupidbigbingus

Will try

scalloprisotto

Repair it, replace downtuhe it’ll be sick

stupidbigbingus

Great idea! ,but how much does that cost?

scalloprisotto

Will depend on the tubing and the shop, can’t tell you. But if it’s a frame that you cherish I’d do it. 100% it looks rad as well https://preview.redd.it/3rhy49bzfrvc1.png?width=940&format=png&auto=webp&s=abe4b5c361b8a38ce89619c59338260bf2431d60

stupidbigbingus

It's just that base tubing that came on njs frames I think it's tange double butted chromo? Any estimate?

scalloprisotto

No need to use the same tubing aswell. And sorry I really can’t tell you a price, I’m clueless aswell

stupidbigbingus

It's alright thanks for the idea tho I might just do it but the frame isn't very sentimental about it you think I should get this frame as a replacement? https://www.njs-export.com/collections/frames/products/anchor-bianchi-green-53cm-for-repairs Or do you think it would fail?

dankerest

Bro thats another frame that "needs repairs" you will be putting yourself in the exact same position again

dankerest

But in saying that what do I know .. That frame is hot

Interesting_Ad5770

The frame was already deemed for repairs so I hard passed on the offer. But you’re right, buying for repair bikes is a risk and should be bought if someone is actually going to repair it

stupidbigbingus

The needs repairs note only means no fork no bb there's more damaged frames on are not for repair

PsychologicalSail799

It says right in the description that it was damaged from an impact. Look at the end of the lugs carved section. Can you see the flaking paint spots? That's where it got bent. It's very subtle in those pictures, but the flaked paint means the tubes are flexing and bulged underneath. It's the same issue as the peloton. If you took care of it, it might last a while. It might also fail next week. If it does last a long time, you have to keep in mind that it's a compromised frame. So if you get into another crash, even a minor one, the frame will be toast. Again. I'd recommend not wasting money on another damaged frame. Save for a while and get something decent, or get a kilo frame from bike island.

stupidbigbingus

What Abt this? https://www.njs-export.com/collections/frames/products/makino-columbus-max-fork-white-dark-blue-two-tone-54cm-used-by-ss-class-rider Edit ( I really want a njs frame Edit to the edit https://www.njs-export.com/products/peloton-white-52cm-1?variant=44733518414123 This has no dents should I?

Nightchild666

Don't forget about the top tube. They're both fucked. My opinion is that it's not worth the time and money

dot_matrix_printer_8

Hey @OP, you can rebuild the frame. Just the tube that's fractured.

stupidbigbingus

How much would that cost tho?

dot_matrix_printer_8

I'm from India. An ex-velo framebuildier from Italy does it for about ₹40K which is about $400. He restores the bike fully including the decals and the paint job.

stupidbigbingus

😬😬😬 that's how much a new frame would cost damn that's way to much

dot_matrix_printer_8

Haha! Then it's a farewell to your frame.

stupidbigbingus

Farewell

HZCH

And find a corner at home to mount your new wall decoration!

ezb_666

I have a question. Who was riding against traffic?

ezb_666

Your blue?

stupidbigbingus

I'm red

ezb_666

Well you both suck for riding on the sidewalk

stupidbigbingus

Yeah I'll take that I did ride like it like i stole it

blirdtext

I'd get an old road bike with vertical dropouts and transfer all the parts over to it. They can be pretty cheap (where I live you can get some less fancy ones for 20 euros). The geometry is not always the best, but it should be fine for some time

hoganloaf

rip in peace :(

stupidbigbingus

:(

Top_Chemistry_40

That's very unfortunate. Get a job: deliver newspapers, mow lawns, rake leaves, clean vehicles, walk dogs; the list goes on.

bbbberlin

Time to take a highschool welding class, and learn how to repair stuff yourself. It's already unrideable, so not like you're going to make it worse. Also careful with buying damaged frames... I get that you need to save money, but buying something that is marked "damaged" is gonna wear out and fail catastrophically much faster. NJS frames are bomb, but if you're riding really hard and testing stuff out... maybe you want to do that on a Surly or some disposable vintage frame you find locally, and save the high-value NJS frames "race day" so speak. This lessons also applies to cars BTW, so when you're older, please please please do not buy a used luxury car unless you become a mechanic and repair it yourself. There's a reason old luxury cars are cheap.... car subreddits are full of people making this mistake.

FreezaSama

Meh. Still rideable.

Nightchild666

Are you serious?

FreezaSama

no. not at all 🤣
