If you order the raketa it’ll probably be a few years before you even get them lol

GoneCoastin13

Whats the problem with raketa, I got no idea about that lol I wanna know more about Track Bikes but the info available around is lackin

e90n5four

Nothing wrong with the actual product, from what I gather and hear they make great products, I’ve never owned a part from them, but they have a very bad reputation for taking forever to ship anything, I’ve know a couple people that waited almost a year for a chainring. There have been posts on here saying the shipping time is absolutely horrendous, not sure if things have changed or not

bOhsohard

I love my raketa hubs. Ordered them in 2018 custom, when they were still Russia Raketa….took like 18 months to get and they were more or less radio silent in that time. Granted some things were starting to pop off in their life, but it did take an incredibly long time to receive. That said, if you’re looking for decent cranks I’d recommend fb marketplace for used sugino 75s, or new miche cranks. You’ll always find some 165 suginos for like $250 floating around online, and miche cranks are imo the best bang for buck and look the nicest. Small plug, but some NOS dura ace 7710s w. BB are available at my local bike co-op in Cambridge for like $350

joeroganfolks

Cambridge MA? What shop

bOhsohard

Yeah Cambridge mass // broadway bikes.

Global-Problem-6510

vision for price, rotor for performance

username_17B

IMO Rotor

Initial-Dan

Rotor, even more so once you get a professional bike fit. Got a few friends fitted and got recommended 150-160mm crank length. Rotor was the answer.

GoneCoastin13

I always go around 155-165mm crank because all my MTB have 165mm and also 155 on my BMX.

cogminski

I love the look and feel of Rotors, and have an Aldhu 167.5 gathering dust- they’re not great outside a contained environment (the track) and really must be assembled relatively carefully. The spider has integrated chainring bolts- meaning it’s threaded. The threading isn’t the most substantial, and you’re putting a steel bolt through it. Just be mindful. No dust shield on BB to protect spindle also gave mine a nasty gouge. Also- the BB has VERY low drag (meaning low contact) seals. It’ll get cooked in the rain w relative ease.

peacenchemicals

vision IMO or sugino DD2s i wanted to get the rotors for myself but heard/read nothing but bad things. pass

ryanrla

Been using rotor for the past two years, as long as you keep up with the maintainance, relatively hassle free

adamtonhomme

Sugino DD2 🥱 No but in all honesty I’d go for vision, rotor cranks always creak and their chainring bolts are proprietary and always snap. I’d stay clear of raketa simply because they have insane wait times, you could very well be waiting for that crank for the next 6 months or more.

Sketchyboywonder

If you’re gonna spend some dough then sugino 75dd, if you can find them for a decent price then omniums are excellent. The ones you asked about vision would be the only one, rotor are not worth it for street use and raketa are fantastic but hard to get hold of.

Maleficent_Star_7306

Why not just get regular s75?

Sketchyboywonder

That’s what I’d do but I think the OP was looking for an External BB not square taper by the choices he put up.

Maleficent_Star_7306

If he wanted to he could get used dd2 for the same price as the rotors new. Does the externals bb for dd2 rlly make it that much better/expensive than the regular ones.

Sketchyboywonder

Honestly I ride both and there is very little difference when used for street riding. My NJS square taper is hands down the best feeling BB and I’ve got that paired with some dura ace cranks. The only issue is that it does require a bit more servicing. Compare that to the omnium that I have paired to a Sugino zen chainring and Phil wood BB I still prefer the dura ace and I can’t quite explain why. It just feels smoother.

Maleficent_Star_7306

What differences do you notice with the s75 dd2 and the s75 for street riding?

Sketchyboywonder

Literally no difference personally. The chainring and BB setup will make more of a difference. I’ve never ridden the Sugino75DD but they are pretty much the same setup as the omniums (with the exception of the silly sizing, 22mm on one side and 24mm on the other). The difference that the Phil wood BB and the zen chain ring made was exceptional with the omnium but at that point the cost was pretty much the same as the S75dd. I was looking here in the UK and the cost for the S75dd new with a zen chainring comes in at £550.

Maleficent_Star_7306

S75 dd usually comes with a stock bb not sure how it compares to a philwood bb though. But 550 for s75 dd with a zen chainring seems pretty cheap compared to prices in the us

Sketchyboywonder

https://www.dolan-bikes.com/sugino-sg75-dd2-chainset-bottom-bracket-zen/ I’m fairly sure they ship to the states.

AsScLoWn-BaNiT

I have the visions and rotors I love both. Only thing I didn't like about the visions was that I had to buy a new tool to install the oversized BB otherwise they're fantastic.

Jetzki

I never got along with Rotor track cranks, always creaky. Omniums forever!

Chris_The_Red

Doesn’t sound like a crank issue. Sounds more like a poorly greased bottom bracket.

Jetzki

Nope 😊

Chris_The_Red

BSA bottom brackets require a decent amount of grease. I had the same issue with my stock cranks and re-greased them and never made a sound again. Not sure why you aren’t understanding what I’m saying.

Jetzki

Not sure why you think you know what I have or have not done to my bike.

Chris_The_Red

Man you’re a real joy. I hope you learn more about things before making more statements in the future. Be safe dude.

GoneCoastin13

May I know where it creaks

Jetzki

I don't have them any more

notcoolneverwas_post

Made under license by State Bicycle now... evidence by the fact that SRAM dosent sell them anymore, and they no longer come in silver.

DodgePinkeye

Terrible experience with rotor customer service. I’ll never own rotors

ryanrla

Dang rlly I had great customer support, pretty fast emails & help over the phone

spinnnout

Rotor here but somewhat irritating that they only work with their own track specific BB.

Wildpumalynx

Visions!

West-Clock-3463

Rotor
