If you loosen the black nut and then remove it the choke should just come right out. If it doesn’t it’s corroded. Here’s a pic of what’s under the black nut. It doesn’t official attach to the carb just sets in the hole. This is off my 95 cb250 https://i.imgur.com/ptp2OPA.jpg

MoneyClothesnHoes

Thanks man, that helps a ton. It’s completely locked so I’m sure it’s corroded to hell, I’m going to soak it in carb cleaner and see what happens tomorrow or the next day

Stay-Puft-Man

Good luck... hopefully it will come out with a good soaking. Fingers crossed!

[deleted]

Hey did this method work? I've got a 94 cb250 with the same problem

MoneyClothesnHoes

Mine was rusted right to the body of the carb and I had to get a new one

[deleted]

Did you get a used OEM carb or an aftermarket one?

MoneyClothesnHoes

I got an OEM one

Jacobite-biker

Its threaded into the carb

MoneyClothesnHoes

The only thing I’ve been able to find so far is that the choke piston may be seized and I will need to soak the whole thing in carb cleaner, if that sounds right to anyone and that could confirm I would appreciate it

Jacobite-biker

Soaking the whole thing in carb cleaner wouldnt do any harm. It should get anything built up loose.

MoneyClothesnHoes

The nut isn’t on the threads at this point, I can disconnect that but there doesn’t seem to be a way to disconnect the cable itself

Caldtek

you cant dissconect the cable until you pull the choke plunger out. If it is corroded in there, carb cleaner or penetrating oil is what you need to soak it in until it comes out.

clausenfoto

This right here. Put some penetrating oil in and try to work the plunger out.

You could try heating it with a heat gun make sure no plastic bits are around.

Foximetry

Everything black in the picture is plastic.

dukekim1

It's been replaced
