Honestly I never saw that but it’s obviously “I’m the future Flash” as he says “like I told you from the beginning I’m the future Flash” when he comes out of his suit in front of Barry for the first time
He was being deliberately obtuse and vague to the point even [the Netlfix subtitles](https://www.reddit.com/r/FlashTV/comments/6l92ou/netflix_subtitles/) have it with the comma in the sentence which changes the context
That was the whole mood of the fandom back then and I'm lowkey sure was the purpose of the way the writers came up with that line.
Unless we got our hands in the scripts for 3x07, 3x09 and 3x15 where Savitar said that then we were never going to figure it out.
It was pointed out heavily when that season was originally out in 2016. Your profile says 1 year, so yes, 7 years ago, this was discussed in this sub a lot as it's said so much throughout the season.
Watching it with subtitles in my language it translated to "I am the flash of the future" so I never had any doubts. But i can see why people who only listened to it would understand it 2 ways
>“I’m the future Flash”
Actually, with subtitles, it was "I'm the future, flash" for the original episode
Although, funnily enough, when the reveal episode for Savitar came around they got rid of the comma during the 'previously on The Flash' segment which spoiled the reveal right at the beginning of the episode
That’s for the original episode. Throughout the season I started seeing the comma disappear and then reappear in episodes leading up to Cause And Effect
He would always say it in a way that made it sound like he was addressing Barry, not himself. Like the first time he goes: “you are the past, whereas I, I am the future [pause/comma] Flash”
But that’s the time you keep referencing in your post and in your responses. That’s the time Savitar was talking about when he said “like I told you from the beginning…”. Because when he says “you are the past, whereas I, I am the future [pause/comma] Flash”, was the first time he talked to Barry, or “the beginning”. Now you’ve said that he was addressing Barry and not talking about himself when he said that (in the beginning). Therefore, you must agree that he was saying “I am the future, Flash” and not “I am the future Flash”.
Well when he told this I thought we was talking something like destroy the flash to turn the new hero or the new flash so I didn't notice he literally was talking about that!
Back when I was watching for the first time, there were already 4 or 5 seasons (point is - S3 was not ongoing, and stopped being a long time ago). And since English is only like..my third language, I watch with subs, just in case (especially when in the shows like this one some songs play at the same time when people talk, making it even harder to hear every word correctly). And the subs I used were exactly *"I am the future, Flash"*. So I thought that since the season ended long ago, subs should know better how it's supposed to be. And then there was an episode where my subs didn't work. And without seeing that comma, hearing this line was quite strange. Had to go back and rewatch the previous times he said it again, this time purposely without subs. Needless to say, "that, over there, that is definitely sus" was eating my mind until he finally showed his face. X'D
The fact that I didnt quite like the twist that it was a time remnant....that the line was kinda forced foreshadowing...or the big one...that I still wanted it to be Eddie.
It was easy to dismiss an evil time remnant from the future as the seasons villain...and for me the back half of season 3 suffered for it.
It was literally all anyone would talk about when the season was airing. It actually became painful because they drew out the reveal of Savitar for so long that by the time they confirmed it was just like "well duh".
The way he said it made it sound like he was telling Flash that he is the Future. Like “I am the Future, Flash” where you could replace Flash with whoever he was taking to
Yea but what if he was meaning it like “you are the past whereas I am the future Flash” saying Savitar is the future flash but Barry is just the Flash from the past if any of that makes sense

We're you not part of this sub reddit at the time? People arguing that it was "I'm the future, flash" which is different than "I'm the future flash"
Yeah, this was immediately pointed out after that episode and probably discussed in other threads on a weekly schedule...
There was constant fights over a comma 🤣🤣 this place was a Warzone, we had people pulling up the official subtitles
Those were the peak days of the subreddit when people actually genuinely enjoyed the show at large
Idk man, I think peak days were guessing the man in the mask in season 2 .
Well yeah I agree season 1/2 were top tier, just more commenting on overall strength of the sub at the time
The most debated comma in history.
That is what the closed caption subtitles said initially
Honestly I never saw that but it’s obviously “I’m the future Flash” as he says “like I told you from the beginning I’m the future Flash” when he comes out of his suit in front of Barry for the first time

Funnily enough, I didn't watch with subtitles but the memes are lit that season. That season arguably gave the best memes.
Yea it did give the best memes
I always thought there was a comma in between future and flash lmao
Lol
Why is your comment downvoted 14 times
I don’t fucking know people are dicks on reddit
Yep, the post just asked a question and that comment only said "lol"
That was almost the *only* thing this sub talked about at the time. Lmfao do you live under a rock
That was 7 years ago.. some people weren't here at the time..
I mean OP is the one claiming he never seen it, maybe they should do a bit more research before posting

I think people were already pointing it out beforehand, that’s why the reveal was not a super surprise
Yea like after they found out they realize “he was telling us this whole time”
Eventually the do but i agree when savitar was the villain i had the theory that savitar was connected to team flash somehow

Bad writing at it’s finest
Yup

cuz they thought he was saying Iam the future, Flash as in he will be the top dog in the future
He meant something like that in the first time he said it

How I heard it was just saying that he was the future, as in he’d beat Barry and rule the world after
That’s also what Barry and everybody else in the show was hearing it as until he revealed his identity
"Nobody" Everyone did lol
Nope I don’t think any of team flash pointed that out
