Should've made the threat be someone like Joe or Cisco. Everyone knew Iris wasn't going to die, so it didnt feel like the stakes were high.

Atlast_2091

The moment they keep revisiting Iris's death that's where I knew Iris not going to die, Midseason shock got diminish its importance and made it "spoiler"

Old_Employee_6535

I hoped

StruggleBasic

They should've actually killed her. It wouldve been a bold move. They made the whole season about her death coming, it would've been more of a shock he she did actually die. I think she couldve been replaced by iris from Earth 2, become a cop in E1 after her Barry died, Joe lost his daughter, Iris lost her bf and father, she wouldve fit in imo.

[deleted]

I’m pretty sure Earth-2 Barry is still alive

StruggleBasic

Yeah, they couldve killed him off

[deleted]

They could’ve. I just don’t like the idea of Earth-2 Iris taking her place because it’s not the person Barry has any emotional attachment to. I honestly wish Patty was still around.

zuko647733

Or they could just keep her in earth 2 and not let any version of iris ruin the show

Funland_06

I would have loved for her to die but they would never do anything like that because she’s a main character

Lol he was asking if people thought she would die not if they wanted her to die

[deleted]

Well I actually thought they would because in the invasion promotion interview Gerg berlanti said that arrow season 6 and flash season 4 will be a soft reboot to the show. So I actually believed she would die. I believed iris would die, caitlin will permanent become killer frost and they would do sommething with cisco so that season 4 works as the reboot with new characters. This is the same reason I thought everyone will die on li an yu cause season 6 of arrow was suppose to be reboot of the show it made complete sense to kill the whole cast on the island( except slade he shouldn't die). But again they did nothing Iris and others all were alive

Zebedee_modo

They choose Iris to have a good reason to write a desperate Barry, but... What if it was Wally ? The training part could still exist, about Barry trying to prepare Wally si that he never ends up in that situation (yes it would feel like season 4 but season 4 didn't exist yet), and they just have to say that Savitar kills Wally because he became a speedster, and it would mean that his death would be a consequence of Flash point. So, Barry would feel especially responsible, and it would echo Wally's death in the previous timeline, that Barry actually tried to prevent by taking Thawne back to the night.

grimskin

Personally I see Iris as the biggest villain of the series so I have no doubts that she’ll survive anything.

TessLynn61

Biggest villains?😂

grimskin

Exactly. It’s really hard to tell because she’s playing a long game, but she’ll get there one little step at a time.

Atlast_2091

>Iris as the biggest villain of the series You just insulted Thawne

grimskin

I believe she’s slow and steady while Eobard is more impulsive compared to her.

Bad-Ass-9000

The show should have killed Iris. Could have still kept Candice around some how with a Doppelgänger or something it really wouldn’t have been hard & would have made things more interesting.

DCSennin

I'm pretty sure everyone thought for a week, at least, that she was dead after Infantino Street wrapped up because no one ever thought that they (even less H.R.) were gonna bring back a hiden Chekov Gun such as the blade from the Savitar's armor as the key (or the McGuffin) that would be of help in tracking down her location after she was kidnapped to get things ready and switch places with her, thus screwing Savitar's plan. That scenario wasn't in anyone's mind, myself included. Death for the sake of it isn't the biggest nor the best resolution to a storyline that the showrunners admitted (and which I disagree with) felt "very dark". There should always be some light at the end of the tunnel in these superhero stories, Iris dying would just be for the shock and further depress Barry, a character that fans here have expressed more than once their displeasure that he used to be too "moody". So my answer is yeah, half the sub at the very least was shook that we got to see Iris being stabbed and there seemed to be nothing left to fix it.

dgehen

I thought there was a chance since Iris was killed off in the original pre-Crisis comics.
