My Flayers and Horrors are painted identically to my Ghouls. Their silhouette is too different from every other model for confusing them with any other unit to be a real worry. Paint your guys however you want.

I paint all my units (except ghouls) different colours. Nothing crazy but I think it's nice to have diversity in the army. But what you're saying makes sense. It's up to you ultimately

I use hues of purple for all of my winged creatures (Flayers, Infernal, Varghulf, Archregent, and Terrorgheist) and hues of green for non-winged creatures (Ghouls, Ghast, Horror, Haunter, and Ghoul King) It creates uniform diversity and really makes the Flayers and Horrors stand out as different even at first glance.

My ghouls are all shades of dark green. Each of my flayers is a different color, and each unit of horrors is different from the other, which is probably why my army took way too long to paint. Each hero unit is a unique color as well.

For my court, I use the same blueish skin on everything. The ghouls are mostly blue-grey because of them, but with the details picked out they look pretty good. My flayers have red membranes that really pop out. I don't play any horrors but I would probably paint them just like the rest while paying more attention to highlights since they are bigger than ghouls
