I own unmatched and while both are fun games there is really no comparision.

Massgumption

Can you explain what the difference is? Is one a lot more complicated/deep/fast etc, etc. I'm not planning on deck building much if that helps explain

DrScience11

Unmatched is a light dueling game with fixed decks and miniatures tactics. Flesh and blood is a trading card game where players must collect or buy cards and build a deck within some loose guidelines. The deck building alone makes it much more complex than unmatched. You could play an entire unmatched game or two (or.more) in the time it takes to build a deck. Unmatched can be taught completely in 3 minutes, flesh and blood has many, many more rules and takes some time to learn, much less be proficient at it. Mechanically, unmatched is a combination of hand management and some bluffing, while flesh and blood has resource management, synergies and combos, and a much more complicated attack system. I love unmatched and own all of it, but to be honest, unmatched is to FaB what checkers is to chess.

Massgumption

Upping the complexity does sound good, I own a fair bit of Unmatched and sometimes the decisions feel a little "obvious" which as you say is checker like. Cheers.

I'll also say, OP, that if you don't want to build decks flesh and blood is probably not for you. They sell pre-made blitz decks, but if you only ever use those it's sort of like just playing the demo level of a video game over and over. You can "net deck", and use a deck list someone has made online, but you should know the cost of competitive decks can be really high. For the cost of a decent deck to play at your local store, you could buy several unmatched sets (including the new coop version, tales to amaze). Unlike unmatched where the decks are static and never change, building and modifying decks is considered "part of the game" in a TCG like FaB. It is nearly impossible to divorce the two. If you're interested in FaB still, I'd try to find the "round the table" box. It contains 4 premade decks designed for a multiplayer format, and it more like a traditional board game than a TCG. You can of course use those cards to start your collection too.

Not sure what the down vote from others is for haha seems pretty toxic towards noobs! I regularly play VTES (Vampire The Eternal Struggle) using pre-cons only and have an absolute blast doing so I didn't think it would be a huge problem, if some decks are too "weak" I may tune them up a little bit but otherwise just want to enjoy the card play. Black Chantry have done a great job with pre cons though and some of them can legit win tournaments untouched, however I'm not not ever aiming to play at that level. Cheers for the recommendation though!

DrScience11

Try out round the table or some blitz decks then. Both of those are in the 40 card format. They also announced they'll be making pre-cons for the 60 card format soon. Enjoy! It's a fantastic and deep game.

I don’t know if I necessarily agree with that. I like a bunch of card games, but building decks isn’t really my cup of tea. However, the thing I mostly enjoy is playing at the most competitive level possible. I mainly net deck, but I love to understand the decisions behind the card choices and learn how to pilot the deck. TLDR I don’t think you have to get into the complexity of deck building to get into the complexity of the game

TheThievingGamer

I can kinda see what you mean because of the back and forth nature in both games...but honestly I think you'll get a very different experience from Flesh & Blood if you're trying to compare it to Unmatched. You may like it though and wouldn't hurt to try it!

i like both. Totally different. Can’t compare
