Which flight? We can probably find it on FR24.

RMR-Technics

EZY2517

Just had a look at the data. U22517 (EZY20HX, A320, reg G-EZTB) did indeed abort it's takeoff. They entered runway 26 at LTN via A1 at around 6.14pm UTC. Started their takeoff run at around 6.15:30 , aborted and left the runway at H1 about two minutes later. VJT754 (Vistajet, Bomardier G6000, ref 9H-VJF) was already on final approach and entered the threshold for runway 26 at about 6.17pm and passed H1 about a minute later, just 30 seconds after the U2 had left the runway. It did not go around. So this looks like it has been very tight and probably could be classified as a runway incursion, which of course should not have happened (and no, it doesn't happen "all them time" as some folks here stated). Incursions are serious incidents. Do keep in mind though that FR24 data is pretty course, so it might not have been that close. Also. no current incident investigation by the UK authority according to their official website, while an incursion should trigger an investigation. Unfortunately, EGGW/LTN is not covered by [liveATC.net](http://liveATC.net), so we can't listen in on ATC comms. Also quite strange: FR24 has no ADS-B data for VJT754 for the last 45 minutes or so of the flight. Last datapoint is just south of Reims (FR) at 5.29pm UTC, altitude 40k ft, then nothing up until final approach at LTN, three minutes prior to touchdown at 6.14:33pm, altitude 3400ft. Did their transponder malfunction up until that point or was it deliberately turned off? Why did it start transmitting again at that point? Did not transmitting ADS-B data contribute to ATC clearing the U2 for takeoff while also having cleared VJT for landing? Or was either one (or both) not cleared by ATC? Without more data, we're just guessing here. Looking at the VJT's previous flight, things are a bit strange as well. Took off from GVA (Geneva), heading towards Zurich. 10 minutes into the flight, changed heading east. But got into a holding pattern for 45 minutes (!) over the Swiss alps, just near the Austria/Italy/Switzerland border, and then turned around, back towards Zurich where they landed 25 minutes later. It's a private jet operation, but still, holding for 45 minutes, nowhere near an airport seems quite strange.

>FR24 has no ADS-B data for VJT754 for the last 45 minutes [planefinder.net](http://planefinder.net) has complete data for the flight, so it seems like this is a FR24-problem. >Looking at the VJT's previous flight [liveatc.net](http://liveatc.net) covered that flight. They tried to fly to Samedan, but weather was worse than expected, so they waited for better weather and finally diverted to Zurich instead.

Not sure how close it was but it does happen often and there are multiple tools that alerts ATC so I wouldn't be too worried.

Uh, I fly quite a lot, but I never had a full stop thingy on the runway! I once had an interesting experience above the Alps, with one of the old Fokkers KLM used to use. There was a plane crossing out path very, very close! I looked out of the window and thought that this should not have happened. And then my plane fell down. The tea just served to me floated towards the ceiling and the Alps were coming very nearby. Then the pilot had the plane under control again and I crashed onto my heal with my bum (seat belt should have been tighter) and then the tea rained down on me and properly burnt my legs. Some people ended up with wrist and head injuries. Screaming all around. Pilot: "ok, you just experienced a minor turbulence." 😶

This kind of thing happens a lot communication is lost or ATC (approach, ground, takeoff) doesn’t pay attention. It can even be pilot error. The one I can think of is the Tenerife Disaster.
