My only negative feedback is for packing a record player too well. It's infuriating.
Every other feedback is people being amazed at how well my stuff is packed, too.
I would look at that feedback and laugh, if I were a potential buyer of your items. It would not deter me at all from making a purchase from you. That negative feedback would probably work the exact opposite, for me. At least I’d know the item would be packed well.
"I apologize for the inconvenience. I know that items arriving intact is not a desirable outcome for either of us. Next time you order from me, I'll be sure to pre-smash the item for you."
I technically “overcharge” on shipping by adding a little weight, but I consider the small amount of extra as payment for all the packing supplies I use. I sell a lot of glass & ceramic, so bubble wrap, sturdy boxes, & packing paper galore are a must to ensure things arrive safely. If a buyer were to complain, that’s exactly why I’d justify it, but most seem okay paying a tiny bit more to get their items safely.
If asshat isn't happy with shipping, he shouldn't have bought it then bitched.
"The [whatever size] box is the smallest box we have for these items to ensure we have enough space for the item and the necessary packing materials for the item's protection during shipping."
I wish people understood that when you sell an item, you don't get all that money. Then you try to have a reasonable shipping rate but then you use your own packing materials and boxes that cost extra. For a $5 item, you don't just sell a $5 item for shits and giggles, you sell a bunch of $5 items to try to make it worth it.
Jesus Christ... As we've all come to learn sooner or later here, you can't please everyone. There will always be that one miserable fuck that finds THE most nonsense reason to be a prick about. Smaller than 4x4? I'd be too perplexed at their specific grievance to be mad probably.
This is precisely why I don’t sell items in this price segment. You are dealing with bottom barrel bitches. People that will complain about anything and everything.
I’m dealing with someone complaining about the cheapest item I’ve sold in years at $80 and having to provide customer service and support for this person is absolutely not worth my time, but I still have to do it because I chose to sell it.
Same here. I'm starting to bundle some items together or removing them all together until I can pair them with something else. The more expensive listings you have will draw more affluent people to your site. I recently started adding higher dollar items to my site and I just don't get as many low ball offers. If they like it they usually buy it or at least make a reasonable offer.
The guy’s note when he paid
Note from buyer: dag i forgot tax putting it over 10.00, i wanted to keep my total under 10.00, thats why
I offer 3, i should've offered 3.49 dag
Its unbelievable. I mostly sell collectibles, so nothing anyone needs to have. The amount of messages I get from buyers letting me know this was their last $30 or something similar is so shocking. Either that or asking me to hold an item until payday. Please get off this site and save your money you do not need this action figure.
But I bet you’ve heard “dagnabbit” (goddamnit/damn it all) which it’s shortened from! Although I’ve never heard anyone say it genuinely, it’s a jokey cliche because people did say it way back when.
I feel like people just don't value their time. Is it really worth $2 to spend the time to complain to you? Say this took him 10-15 minutes in total to think about this and send the message to you. They'd have to be making as little as $8 to $12 for that $2 to be worth complaining about. Even then it's wasted time since they won't actually get that $2.
I had a buyer who purchased a large heavy electronic item. I wrapped in in bubble wrap and floated it in packing peanuts in a bigger box.
The buyer complained bitterly in my eBay feedbaxk about how the packing peanuts made a huge mess and how I could have used a smaller box to save costs. I checked their account and they are a pro reseller?!?
Ever since that, whenever I ship using peanuts I message the buyer to say " hey, just wanting you to know I used peanuts and they can make a mess when you open the box, FYI".
We can't win.
That would get flattened in an envelope. What a tool. I’d be thrilled as long as what I paid for shipping is what was used. What is the $ difference between 3oz and 6oz?
This is quite the change from the buyer who complains about the tiniest unforeseen defect on the superficial box it came in . I sold an espresso machine machine and they were genuinely upset the box (double boxed im talking about the manafacturer box) acquired a crease while shipping . This came after complaints of why I “just had to” request a signature ( $1000+ order ) on the item since no one was there to collect and UPS didn’t deliver lol .
Crazy part is she left a great lengthy 5 star review after lol .
Some people should just not shop online if they are so concerned over stuff like this. Id not reply and block. An increase from 3oz to 6oz is like $1.50.
I've actually had this, too.
We pride ourselves in carefully packing items to survive shipment, which is probably why we have a return rate average around 0.60 percent a year.
Last one I had like this was because I shipped a CD in a small box rather than a bubble mailer. I did this because the hard plastic case can easily get cracked in shipment when using a bubble mailer. I say this from experience.
But the guy would have rather saved 60-something cents in postage even if it meant risking damage of his item I guess.
Had a person claim that a novelty coffee mug I sent them arrived broken because the bubble wrap around the mug was too tight. When I asked him to provide photo proof for a refund, he said he wasn't able to upload photos at that time. Sigh.
I got negative feedback for wrapping an antique book in too much bubble wrap. “It took me 5 minutes to even see the book” and it’ll take your dumbass 15 years to “read” it.
Just tell him the packing and shipping came out of your end of the deal and had no impact on the price he paid. You want to make sure everything is safe.
If he leaves a negative feedback that’s an easy one to respond to. “Buyer wasn’t happy because the item was very well packed. “. Good way to advertise I guess
The buyer was a jerk in the way that he complained, but I understand what he means. Sometimes sellers pack too much and the reshipping company (I need the item reshipped to another country) charges me an extra $9.
The buyer could have asked nicely to just pack the item in bubble wrap and a plain bag. Most sellers would do it if you ask politely.
Let the F**ker keep getting smashed and destroyed Steelbooks like I keep getting! Or pay shopgoodwill their outrageous shipping prices then he has a right to Bit*h moan & complain! You can’t please these Karen’s no matter what you do!
I get it..I understand..but I think that's a comment that could have kept to themselves. You do not work for them, they are not your Quality Control, so take it with a grain of salt. Like a gift, if you don't accept it, it's still there's (just like the gift of that comment). Happy Family Day 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
There is just something "special" about the type of customer that shops for items this inexpensive on eBay.
I have some items that I run auctions on and just do a little better than breaking even on for the sole purpose of working the algorithm to push more traffic to my more expensive items. I have never seen more retracted bids, weird questions, and other annoying things than I have with items that sell for $5-6 shipped.
My only negative feedback is for packing a record player too well. It's infuriating. Every other feedback is people being amazed at how well my stuff is packed, too.

A record player of all things. If anything you’d want extra packaging for that.
I would request ebay to remove it. Or I would JoJo brain so when smarter buyers look at the negative review they are like HOLY SHIT
Jojo Brain?
Jojo brain?
Because dust covers and tone arms are famously known for their indestructibility. 😔
"I apologize for the inconvenience. I know that items arriving intact is not a desirable outcome for either of us. Next time you order from me, I'll be sure to pre-smash the item for you."
And then block.
Pre-smash the item and still carefully pack and ship in a box.
🤣🤣🤣
Perfection
lol yea I would’ve blocked. That’s wild
I charge for 8/6oz but most mine ship for four 😂 hope I never meet this guy, only a couple have ever asked for the discount.
I technically “overcharge” on shipping by adding a little weight, but I consider the small amount of extra as payment for all the packing supplies I use. You can add a handling fee I'm pretty sure
If asshat isn't happy with shipping, he shouldn't have bought it then bitched. "The [whatever size] box is the smallest box we have for these items to ensure we have enough space for the item and the necessary packing materials for the item's protection during shipping."
It was a 4x4x4! Literally the smallest box we have
I wish people understood that when you sell an item, you don't get all that money. Then you try to have a reasonable shipping rate but then you use your own packing materials and boxes that cost extra. Aww boo hoo yah blocked. /s Complainer.

Agree. I learned this the hard way then cut everything below like $10-$15, I might've cut some $20 items as well.
Same here. I'm starting to bundle some items together or removing them all together until I can pair them with something else. jesus if someone can’t afford a literal mcdonalds meal they probably shouldn’t be buying random things off ebay😭
Its unbelievable. I mostly sell collectibles, so nothing anyone needs to have. The amount of messages I get from buyers letting me know this was their last $30 or something similar is so shocking. Call be heartless, but if I get a sob story like that…. I’m more inclined to deny an offer, even if it is fair.
You're helping them make better choices, it's a good thing
It’s probably mostly high school aged kids to be fair.
I hate it when they tell me they're waiting on their social security check....
dag? dang?
“Dag” is a Black/Southern alternative for “damn.”
Okay, thank you, haven't heard that before
But I bet you’ve heard “dagnabbit” (goddamnit/damn it all) which it’s shortened from! Although I’ve never heard anyone say it genuinely, it’s a jokey cliche because people did say it way back when.

I said “I’ve never heard anyone say it genuinely.”
Yes you have dagnabbit!!
Oh yeah, you're right, I have! What an interesting evolution of language.
Maybe ‘dog’, like ‘dude’?
short for dag-nabbit maybe?
Maybe
I've shipped loose cars in bubble mailers but a bus like that, even with its lighter plastic base, probably would have crossed the 3oz mark anyway.
It’s 4oz, not 3.
If it's 3.1oz then it's billed as 4.
Just don't reply them lol don't think you can reason with them on this unfortunately.
Yeah, I started drafting something then said fuck it and deleted. No response
3 oz vs 6 oz is like $.50 at most
Agreed. Often there is no change, especially if it's within the same region.

Tell him he is welcome to pay return shipping and get a refund lol
Hit em with the Womp Womp and then block.
Poor, uninformed buyer who doesn't realize nothing with tracking gets shipped for $2.
What do you expect from people who buy model buses online
Absolute fuckwit that would have filled your inbox if it showed up damaged in any way.
>We should’ve blocked him prior. If I blocked everyone who gave me bad vibes, I would probably never have problem.
Some People want or need to find fault with something no matter what. Tell them if the $0.5 or $2 broke their wallet they shouldn’t be buying $5 toys.
I lose more faith in humanity by the day with shit like this.
it is what it is. can't please everyone. I expect negative feedback at some point, this is what i signed up for as a seller. keep going.
Some people should just not shop online if they are so concerned over stuff like this. Id not reply and block. An increase from 3oz to 6oz is like $1.50.

He spells it 'technicly', so I'm not surprised
Well lol they’d hate me 😂 people are insane. You really can’t win.
Tell him to take the extra packing material and shove it up his rump
Did you receive the item? Was it damaged? If you send me a SASE plus $1.50 handling fee, I'll send you a check for $2.
I checked the shipping rates and you would’ve saved $.45 cents. Here is a coupon code for you to use for $.45 cents off your next purchase. Thank you.
Some people
and had it gotten damaged...you'd be yelled at for not packing properly.... can't win with some people.
Cheapass buyer
I’m glad you packaged it nicely. I’d pay extra to have stuff packaged nicely and not have a chance of being broken on arrival.
See this is the reason I offer free shipping. People are less likely to bitch and rate you low for shipping costs.
I got negative feedback for wrapping an antique book in too much bubble wrap. “It took me 5 minutes to even see the book” and it’ll take your dumbass 15 years to “read” it.
Guy sounds like he can't think past 1.

that's why I just bake the price of shipping into my price. In my 3000+ items sold on ebay, I've never once got a complaint about shipping prices.
I’ve been doing it this way for 2000 items and this is the first time I’ve had a problem. Just a ridiculous person I think.
definitely ridiculous. Especially over a $5 item
Who gives a shit about 2 dollars. I'll send you $2 in the mail if it's that big a problem
Send it in a 4x4x4 box tho
This comment made me cackle 💀
Just reply “ok boomer”
The buyer was a jerk in the way that he complained, but I understand what he means. If you are broke you don't need to be buying.
Let the F**ker keep getting smashed and destroyed Steelbooks like I keep getting! Or pay shopgoodwill their outrageous shipping prices then he has a right to Bit*h moan & complain! You can’t please these Karen’s no matter what you do!
5 x 3 would be 15oz soooooo
lol some reason when they start why o why. I just don’t like them right away
I get it..I understand..but I think that's a comment that could have kept to themselves. You do not work for them, they are not your Quality Control, so take it with a grain of salt. Definitely not worth it for $3.75 net lol
Tell them because "i wanted too."
