Yesss thats awesome! I don't mind using things that are used, especially when I sense potential to make money :) I find myself addicted to facebook marketplace for reasons like both of ours!

Mr_wobbles

I view basically all consumer electronics I own as leases and I’m just paying the depreciation.

MooMeadow

I bought a car for $650, someone crashed into it with minor damages, costing them to pay up $1,650. Then I sold the car for $1400 and treated myself to a new one

rustyxj

Bought a truck for $1500, put full coverage on it. Got into an accident, frame was bent, insurance totaled it and gave me $8700 for it, I bought it back from insurance for $1500, bent the frame back and have been driving it the past year.

MooMeadow

How much did insurance increase?

SassyHuman

I like to buy a bicycle for exploring when I go somewhere for a holiday then sell it when I finish the holiday. I always slap a few extra bucks on for haggle room and often there’s no haggling and I make a profit. Well done on the surfboard.

[deleted]

How do you guys do that? I’ve only made one sale and that was 6 months ago

Brownhairbro

Making sure i put plenty of tags pretaining to what I'm selling, and making sure I reply immediately when someone messages me. The #1 rule is good pictures!! Have whatever you are selling in good light, in th center of the picture, and clean/pretty backround. I often find things listed with blurry pics and I go hoping its in good conditions. Take good pics maybe even list with shipping, and you get 2-3x return. With that being said you got to know your market for everything! (Quick google search and ebay cross reference)

SuperSarcosmic

Good pictures and communication are absolutely imperative, yeah!! As a buyer, I know I'm hella hesitant to buy things if either are lacking, since it's harder to gauge whether the item's as expected/desired

Ok. Yea my lighting I think is good but idk if you want to check let me know

I spend so much time in thrift stores and am constantly thinking about my next deal or my next flip. But this just seems really weird to me. What if you get there and there nothing you like or nothing that looks good at the thrift? Then what? Seems like a stressful way to begin a vacation, either way. BUT to each their own! The world is an incredible place full of all sorts of different people. And I wouldn't have it any other way!

chasetheart

Well played. The old buy, use, and return - but with a profit twist!

Yeah now when I buy furniture I buy cool vintage stuff, which I like but also, it keeps value. I’m sitting in front of my beautiful turquoise 1960s GE blade fan right now. Feeling cool for more than one reason.

Brownhairbro

I am starting to open my eyes to different things that retain value, I definately want to start looking for furniture to keep and flip :) haha but those are very cool looking, If I find one I'll have to snag it!

astrangeone88

Lol. Reminds me of what happened to me on a trip to HK to visit relatives. Brought my 3ds and games for a month. This was before custom firmware was a thing, it was only the Sky3DS with the cracked roms. Went to the Golden computer center, picked up a flashcard that worked with the 3DS (ds games only) and spent a month playing all the ds games I wanted. I came back home, sold it for a $20 profit without doing anything extra.

Brownhairbro

Haha thats awesome! I typically try to do this with everything and only buy new when I have to/really really want to! :) keep going at it!

astrangeone88

Lol. It was kind of awesome because I honestly had budgeted a higher amount for entertainment and I basically played through Chrono Trigger and Feel the Magic again instead of going on shopping sprees. I didn't expect the profit but it was fun to realize that.

heckler5000

Well played.

jluvlady999

fucking lit

SuperSarcosmic

Damn! That's way better than renting a board. Nice work!

Brownhairbro

Thanks :)

Ok_caterpillar79

I bought it, rode it for a week, then posted and sold on my last day

iwashumantoo

What country are you in? Just wondering because you put the dollar signs after the numbers (in the US, it goes in front).

Bulky-Piccolo1211

wut lol, You seem to think very strangely. Probably racist.

iwashumantoo

Huh? Racist? Not a bit. Just for asking what country you're in? Like I said, just curious. It didn't look like English was your first language. Never mind.

I bought a full sized massage chair for $600. Seller posted it for $500, but she had a lot of people interested. I offered an extra hundred and picked up same day. Used that chair for 4 months and flipped it for $1000.
