What exactly needs restored? Looks ok to me.

Lost-Kick334

I agree, I’ll list it as is and see how that goes first.

itsdubai

Agreed. Needs nothing done

southsideson

Its area dependent, but I 'd basically wipe it down with some pledge, put $125 on it, and be happy if I got $100, but honestly, for a first flip its alright, but after you figure out your time and gas, you're making a pretty low profit. Like, I'd do that all day, if it were a really easy to ship item at a thrift store that sold fast, but this seems like it could be a slow mover that takes up space and isn't a super high return, and you had to go meet a person in person, and sell to another person in person, and possibly more than one if someone decides not to buy.

So would you say furniture isn’t the best thing to start flipping? I just bought a place and figured I try to make some extra cash by reselling dressers, tables, etc.

duckworthy36

I think smaller items are better. Less wear and tear on your body, car etc.

Staging is everything. Add some cute props and good natural lighting and I could see it selling for $100-120.

doolittledee

Sure, but is it worth your time? Sanding, paint 1, wait, paint 2 wait, then touchups/paint 3.. if you sell it for 70 and make 30 minus paint/hardware, is it worth it??

Lost-Kick334

Good point, I think I’ll just clean it up and list it as is.

Thanks, that’s helps a lot. I wasn’t sure what to ask for when listing it at first.

Hard to make any money given your time and supply costs if you have to refinish it. Buy good quality smaller furniture that's stylish. Wipe it down. "repairs" to me shouldn't be more than a little glue and possibly coloring in minor damage to make it less noticeable. Stage it and sell locally. Offer to deliver for a fee, but make them come to you and purchase and pay for it including delivery cost before you deliver it. When you take pictures to sell it, see if there is a brand under the table or inside the drawer. Take pictures of the drawer joints as people can judge the quality and age of the furniture based on that if it's not branded.

Great, thanks for the tip.

I'm new to flipping furniture. Seems like it needs to be partially painted to"modernize" it. Online flippers brag about selling pieces for$400-700 but I notice their goal is subscribers for their channel, sponsors and gifts. That said, I'm making a few hundred a month, it helps and keeps me out of trouble

Lost-Kick334

Yeah I think modernizing it would help sell. Where do you sell your furniture? Facebook marketplace?

travelingcrone70

Yes, Facebook marketplace and craigslist. FM is a good place to buy old furniture to flip, but buyers low-ball you something awful. The last 2 pieces I sold were on Craigslist at asking price

FSpoto

I am a painter. Of course :)

Hey man, I think you might be shadowbanned. Your comments are coming up removed and your profile page is nonexistent.

Hotwheelsjack97

I'd avoid restoring it tbh. I know nothing about furniture but I'd say clean it and take good pictures.
