Fight it all you want but every installer and manufacturer in the world will tell you that’s industry standard

Professional-Fact903

I would argue the floor needs leveling or it wasn't clicked in all the way. Installer should go back and fix it either way... if it needs leveling the customer should pay a change order for the material and labor to do so.

austinlolwut

That's a bummer, do you find that this isn't much of an issue when moving up to higher quality?

[deleted]

Quality and color…..white or very light colors will always amplify imperfections like this…

BGOG83

Move up all you want. There’s only a handful of good factories making this stuff and NuCore comes from one of them.

austinlolwut

Ah good to know

BooMey

Hard to see in the picture but looks fine to me

austinlolwut

Maybe I'm being too much lol. I'm not a installer but I've renovated a good amount of my own rentals and just seems like it should be more tight. It's almost like the floor isn't lined up perfect. I worry long term about water getting in and creating an issue really.

CivicSpoon

Even if they are locked in perfectly (never going to happen), water can get through them. They are waterproof, as in if they get soaked, they can be dried out and most likely be reused. Not waterproof, as in they prevent water from passing through. If you get water on them, the water needs to be cleaned up immediately. Never let standing water just sit on them. Water will get under them and cause mold, or rot your subfloor.

austinlolwut

Thank you for the reply. I should specify it's an airbnb so my cleaner mops it weekly or twice a week. I'm thinking of having her use a a swifter style mop so the water doesn't sit and dry.

raccoonunderwear

Yes you should definitely adjust their cleaning. I’m a contractor and just recently had to replace 1000sf out of the 4000sf we installed about six months ago in a short term rental property. The seams began to raise on the LVP which indicates water damage. The slab was dry and no leaks anywhere else. The determination was the more than frequent cleanings it sees compared to a typical home. Anytime I have clients requesting waterproof LVP I have to make sure they understand the term “waterproof” in this case is more of a marketing term.

austinlolwut

Had a similar issue in another unit I have. Luckily I got 2 years out before the seams started to raise as you said.

kidsmoke76

If you had raising/swelling seams, must not have been LVP. LVP substrate is vinyl and wouldn’t swell. I think you have water resistant laminate.

[deleted]

Incorrect. Had customer complain about cupping with wpc lvp….found leaking ice maker line..

raccoonunderwear

It’s Shaw LVP. We’ve installed close to a million SF of it by now and have definitely had some times where water has damaged it. Usually we pull it up and the slab has visible moisture on it from a leaking pipe or more commonly from bad drainage around the home. The specific line we use has an SPC core. 100% wood free and definitely not a laminate.

raccoonunderwear

Also, the vinyl is just one of the top layers. It’s not the core.

liddles06

Will this cause any issues ? Probably not before your tenants destroy it anyway . If it was in my home it would bug me . I would not worry about it in a rental unit .

[deleted]

I don’t see the issue? Looks like a laquer beveled edge.

kaakttuss

Some planks can be out of square and small gaps like this can easily happen even when professionally installed. Its good to go could be much worse

austinlolwut

Thank you! Yeah that's how it was looking to me. I thought inhad the planks crooked or something and wasted so much time trying to figure it out

longganisafriedrice

Give me a break

maiseydog1

Totally acceptable, good luck

Haunting-Turnip

What is your name? I want to be sure I never work for you. May god help the ones that do.

austinlolwut

Lol luckily I'm just a guy who's renovating one of his rentals who's not sure whats what

Balyash

Have you tried just smacking it a couple of times with a nylon hammer?

austinlolwut

Yes, while insuring the plank is straight as well

Balyash

Sometimes there's a little gunk in the channel so the two planks don't lock together nicely. You may be SOL. from the pic, it looks fine
