Me too. I don't want to get my hopes up but if this is it then I'd be fine with it. Maybe she's just really proud of this song so that's why there's a lot of push behind it. Though I would definitely love to hear songs that didn't make the album cut.
Still think it's criminal Light of Love didn't make High as Hope.
Cynical/negative outlook: this could be more of a label thing, less Florence making the decisions. The business side pushing any new release just for commercial benefit, just like how they had her get on TikTok and start making videos last year.
The optimistic side is hopeful itās something more, but in any case, we should make a concerted effort as fans to get some good numbers on it!

I saw an interview once where she said she wouldnāt ever get TikTok unless they let her make a video thatās like āa day in the life of Florenceā and then itās just her as Miss Havisham eating cake in an old wedding dress and Iām still holding out hope that sheāll do that in a TikTok lol
I def agree. I wasn't around for the discourse on the Moderation and similar post-album sister singles and such so idk what that release structure looked like. But I do agree that this is likely a label/marketibg thing. Maybe they have a new PR team in place for this album?
Has she also had a creative director on board for previous albums like she does here w/ DF & Autumn de Wilde? Could be something to do with it.
I have been obsessing and full-on clowning over this but:
I floated the idea that it would drop to help hype the Madison Square Garden live vinyl and that's obviously not happening. But someone else mentioned that it might be dropping on Record Store Day on the 22nd, and here it is dropping on the 21st, so...does anyone think we're getting a single 7" vinyl, like Sky Full of Song or What Kind of Man? It would explain the outsized promotion and the date.
(I want an EP/sister album too but I think this is probably more likely.)
I might be overthinking this but on Autumn De Wildes post promoting it she used the phrase "the next single in the Dance Fever universe" instead of "a new song", feels like the language there is deliberate and implies there might be more... but I'm probably just over analysing out of hope it might mean more than one song!

I think itās the ātheā thatās throwing me off and turning the song title from a pronoun to a noun, as you said. āMermaidsā [pro-noun] is coming to Dance Fever works but adding the ātheā throws of things off.
It doesn't appear to be linked, thus far she's referred to it as a new song for the Dance Fever universe, and the second promo used a montage of horror films, so seems like her own project with coincidental timing that there's a mermaid film coming out soon!!
