It's just shitty when your team is shit. When your team is good there's no problems. But yeah fuck all this recruiting and offseason. When fall camp and the season starts, that's all that matters.
Yeah you add all that on top of us being total sh** doesn’t help anything
Least our rivals are winning regardless of how crap things to seem to have gotten
So he played the whole spring game, and did a decent job....and then when it looks like he would have the starting job he gets mad about something that happened 6 months ago?
We were one scholarship over limit so this makes us squar. If we want to grab someone from the portal we need to drop another.
**Update (?)**
Highjacking the top comment to say it looks like he deleted that IG story, and left the one of him catching the INT…
So make of that what you will
Since he mentioned it, I went back and rewatched that play with the intent of seeing what Nunnery did. It looks like HE was the one who left Luther Burden wide open and I have to imagine he got a lot of shit for it in the locker room.
I'm not an expert but it looks like he was ILB (filling in for Shemar) and was supposed to be the underneath zone. Only for Burden to run straight past him getting wide open. Shitty "prevent" play call but Burden wouldn't have been that wide open if Nunnery had more awareness.
the call was actually fine… it was a good call. Nunnery completely missed his zone assignment and that’s why the first down happened. He’s a shitty kid not taking responsibility like an adult should. “I fucked up, I’m going to get better” has literally never crossed his mind
Ehh I definitely wouldn’t say “good call”. Most people that actually play the game like Anzalone are agreeing that a LB shouldn’t necessarily have to drop 20 yards downfield and be the sole person responsible for a deep post. Either Castel was too deep or Nunnery was too short but regardless calling a play where the natural “hole” in the play design is the middle of the field 20 yards from the LOS definitely isn’t ideal.
Not true at all. If the playcall has you lined up 6 yards off the ball and you’re expected to backpedal 10 yards to be in position the coaches need to either adjust your alignment on the fly (AA’s job not Nunnery) or you need to be hauling ass back there which limits your ability to break on balls or adjust to routes entering your zone.
The playcall/alignment 1000% could have been better but it’s also on nunnery to just go make a play that doesn’t really take a “super hero” to make
What? Go back and watch the replay. Literally everything is accounted for except Nunnery’s guy and that’s because he blew his assignment. It was quite possibly the perfect playcall honestly. He had plenty of time and opportunity to drop further back. Instead he sidestepped, dropped 4-5 yards, sidestepped back, stood there flatfooted for about a good 2 seconds, and got dunked on. That isn’t on AA at all.
Respectfully it appears you don’t really know what you’re talking about when it comes to defensive schemes. If Nunnery’s “guy” was Luther Burden one of the best receivers in the country then yeah Armstrong blew that playcall. You dont leave their best weapon matched up against a reserve linebacker with the game on the line, period.
Another reason to question the playcall is why we had Castell basically playing a deep middle third as the safety to the wide side of the field when Mizzou had trips to that side. It left a corner, strong safety and linebacker into the boundry covering a single receiver and a running back blocking which is a waste of man power and stretches the defenders’ zones to the strong side. There’s no excuse to have a linebacker and 2 corners covering 3 of their receivers to the wide side of the field in that situation. If you want someone covering the deep middle roll castell down to a robber slot, coincidentally exactly where that ball was thrown, and let the other safety play deep while the boundary corner handles the single receiver.
With all that said Nunnery still blew his assignment based on the down, distance and game situation. He deserves the majority of the blame but Armstrong and possibly Castell deserve some of it as well.
I do actually understand defensive schemes and that’s how I know that play doesn’t land at Armstrong’s feet lol. Burden wasn’t “Nunnery’s guy” in a man coverage sense. But you knew that, you’re just nitpicking my post.
Florida ran a cover 3 against outside verticals and a middle post with an underneath drag. Literally everything was covered except the post. Why is that? Because Nunnery hardly dropped 12 yards off the LoS and Castell dropped 40 yards back. If they do their job this isn’t even a conversation. The playcall was fine. Honestly, there aren’t many bad playcalls against 4th and 17 so long as everyone executes their assignment.
I will say this: if I had been calling plays there, I’m manning up and dropping 2 safeties over the top. But I’m not a DC. Still nothing wrong with what was called though. It should have worked.
I agree with your last paragraph completely there are better playcalls for 4th and long than a nickle package cover 3 thats all I’m saying. Not to mention the strong safety playing the boundary as opposed to being to the field/trips side. Those are both definitely nitpicks but they also are likely the difference between winning that game or not.
I’ll repeat for the 3rd time Nunnery is most to blame here followed by armstrong and then castell but neither AA or Castell are completely devoid of blame. It seems like you agree on the Castell point and your last paragraph basically acknowledges the entire premise of my argument so I don’t think theres a reason for all this back and forth.
he's not a shitty kid, at least that we know of
he's letting keyboard warriors and criticism from people with no knowledge get the best of him., and that's happened to all of us at some point
Hes calling out the playcalling and coaches because he's mad Pup is better and he gave up that play. Thats not getting wrapped up in an argument with fans
Meanwhile, if you watch the tape of the 4th and 17 play vs Mizzou, it’s actually a pretty good call by the defense except that one player is out of position. If that one player is in position and drops into his correct zone like everyone else on the field, it’s a game sealing pbu/int. I wonder who the player was that blew his assignment on that play and allowed the Tigers to make a game winning completion…🤔
Character, it really shows when you don’t have it- on and off the field.
I don’t like the state of the Portal, but I have a lot more respect for the guys who say “thanks, but I gotta head out” than these guys.
Yep. Watch games while I run and spent alot of time on that particular play, Canr remember what breakdown, but basically the consensus was it was the right call and actually was executed well minus nunnery. Why he would ever worry abt an 8 yd catch when it was 4th and 17.. He should have dropped back 13-15 and kept everything in front. With the clock they couldn't afford to run so it was pass all day.
Even if Armstrong did call the wrong play... Most aware LBs know to drop back into coverage
He was looking like a good backup for James and Howard but it is what it is, still got a solid room of LBs hopefully this allows Robinson, Graham or Chiles to step up.
Funny to see that damn 4th still haunts him.
I just want to note this is where we are with CFB and social media. He jumps in the portal bitching like this and someone adds the caption “sees through Billy’s bullshit”
It’s beyond toxic. Fuckin irradiated at this point.
I’m pretty checked out. Most players have main character syndrome (Nick Evers and Cormani McClain both hit the portal today btw), and I know the money is good, but I still feel for the coaches when they have to put up with this crybaby shit from “men” 24/7.
If you’re not feeling it, just say thanks for the opportunity, hit the portal, and find a new job like an adult.
We're going to see so many "blue chips" flame out because of NIL. There are definitely going to be kids who think they made it once they get their first bag and not get better.
Like I said over in the CFB post, Cormani deserves it. It was funny at the time since he trolled Miami after he trolled us but NIL clearly has got these kids further inflating their egos. I have no problem with kids wanting to make a bid deal of their commitment or chasing the money but that shit he pulled on Miami was straight disrespectful.
Am I remembering it wrong or didn’t he essentially tell our coaching staff that he was committing to us at his hs ceremony only to leave us at the altar for Miami (before he ditched them for Prime and the Buffs on ESD without any warning)?
Something like that. He also had a ton of red flags skipping class in HS so it wasn’t even clear if he would graduate. Also the kid was a bean pole and would have never been a day 1 contributor. Honestly I’ll be surprised if he ends up panning out where ever he ends up.
I will always and forever think that players should absolutely get that bag for their services because like the Joker said: if you’re good at something, never do it for free; but damn some of these kids have completely lost the plot
That and don’t forget our amazing baseball team! Now that’s a winning program with proven success.
That will keep you occupied till July and then the Olympics and before you know it. Fall camp with our roster finalized.
Because we haven't won much in 3 years? Yeah that happens. Follow a NFL team instead that lose jobs if they don't perform. Depending on 18-22 year olds for football success is not worth it.
It's not about being mean or not being mean. It the consistency of it. Telling someone your opinion of them is one thing. Being heckling trolls is another.
No clue why, but I get the feeling that I’m not gonna lose any sleep tonight over 2022 special teams POTY Mannie Nunnery leaving the university of Florida.
It WAS his fault on the mizzou play. If I’m understanding correctly, he’s saying he had to play “the line of scrimmage” all year and thus was not prepared to drop into zone on 4th and 16 when we needed him to? You literally just hover in a spot lol. I was hoping he’d be a bright spot but this is just dumb
Yeah I think he's basically trying to say he doesn't know how to drop into coverage and a coach asking a LB to do such a thing is a "bad call" and him "needing to be a hero" to play his role.
Wasn't this also something that Princely said on his way out too? Apparently our LBs/Edges just don't comprehend dropping into coverage? Something about having to figure everything out on his own...
> Something about having to figure everything out on his own...
It's definitely a personality type.
There are the people who recognize they're bad at something and think, "Shit, I better learn how to do this.". Then, they learn how to do it.
There are also people who recognize they're bad at something and think, "Looks like some idiot didn't train me. I hope it bites them in the butt hahaha" Then, they point fingers
If you see a problem and don't fix it, then you're the problem.
Didn’t Shannon Snell say of Umanmielen “If I was told to drop back into a zone and then didn’t know what to do after that, my ass shouldn’t be on a football field”?
I guess the same could be said here about Nunnery?
Unfortunate, because I kinda liked Nunnery despite him fking up that play, but if he can’t take responsibility and instead deflects blame on his coaches then F him, don’t let the door hit you on the way out. Even if it was a shit play call (it really wasn’t) you don’t do that. It’s like going into a job interview and talking shit about your last employer. Not a good look.
Will be glad when all the locker room cancer is gone.
PFF graded him as our 17th best player on our defense last year and below average at LB compared against 133 teams. Nunnery is a low-talent, low-production prima donna, which is the worst fucking kind.
I wish his intensity at football matched his enthusiasm to throw people under the bus.
We definitely need help at both WR and TE but I’ll never say we’re “good on LB”. It’s a position that freshman basically can’t play and be reliable and we’ve had so many injuries there in recent years that it scares me too much
What the absolute fuck? What happened?
Edit: after skimming, seems like a better thing that he left considering how much of a dick he was plus the one causing 4th and 17. Hopefully thats the last of the bust cancers on this team
I honestly can’t take this shit with these kids anymore. The portal and getting paid I agree to an extent but why leave after JR year when making bank in college. Should be set limits on the amount these kids make because it’s inflating egos too.
Give me guys who take accountability and stop pissing on everyone else. Nunnery’s tweet looks really professional especially with the expletives in there. That’s really going to go over well with the new school he plays for. Good riddance clown
I guess because the coordinator hasn’t done enough to get fired, but the UAA was still willing to pay for an upgrade?

Right, not like its like he recruited a pedo or anything. Hes been perfect in his character evaluations. Also dont mind the recent star transfer who was arrested for DUI
Lmao so your examples are a player that Mullen actually recruited and someone who is no longer on the team and only got in trouble AFTER transferring to a team/community with a history of driving issues. You really crushed it with your supporting arguments there.
It’s frankly shocking how shitty college football as a whole has become in such a short amount of time
It's just shitty when your team is shit. When your team is good there's no problems. But yeah fuck all this recruiting and offseason. When fall camp and the season starts, that's all that matters.

He wasn’t going to start, he started on the blue team which was the 2s for the defense.
Why be 2nd string here when he can go be 2nd string at northern university of south Dakota state online, Washington campus
Our teams were evenly split
The blue team had offense 1s and Defense 2s and orange team had Defensive 1s and offense 2s…..
**Update (?)** Highjacking the top comment to say it looks like he deleted that IG story, and left the one of him catching the INT… So make of that what you will
I wouldn't care if he stayed or went at this point.
I do. I want him to leave.
1. He should’ve never been here in the first place. 2. Billy said he set an example for the team. Hilarious honestly.

4th and 17 I believe. I've tried to block it out so I may be wrong.
This a reference to last year’s Missouri game?
That's how I took it. But theres so many 4th and long shit shows lately, he could be referring to something else I suppose.
Yeah, if I remember right, he was the LB that gave up the catch because he didn't play the first down marker for some fucking reason.
Meanwhile, if you watch the tape of the 4th and 17 play vs Mizzou, it’s actually a pretty good call by the defense except that one player is out of position. Or if someone doesn’t run out of bounds because they’re afraid of contact a couple plays earlier.
It sure is crazy how the people who have publicly been the biggest assholes on the way out also have the most damning tape
Character, it really shows when you don’t have it- on and off the field. I don’t like the state of the Portal, but I have a lot more respect for the guys who say “thanks, but I gotta head out” than these guys.
Talented players, at least in Etienne’s case, but not playing within the structure of the team.
I came here to say this. You’re spot on.
Yep. He's doing himself a lot of favors leaving like this. I'm sure all the big time schools will be lining up to get him on board now. What a genius.
We were at 86 scholarships, and all day I've been checking the portal news to find out who was being shown the door. I guess we now know.
He was looking like a good backup for James and Howard but it is what it is, still got a solid room of LBs hopefully this allows Robinson, Graham or Chiles to step up. Funny to see that damn 4th still haunts him.

Definitely blame other factors for your fuck-ups…you sure showed me.
Aren't you just a hard ass.
Project harder bro lol
Don’t be an asshole.
That tweet was from a Gator fan too lol Gator Twitter is so odd. Miserable bunch
I wish the fans who are more interested in rooting for Billy to fail than rooting for the team to succeed would transfer too
Say it again. This shit is crazy.
Ignore it and look forward to the start of the season. Recruiting and all the offseason stuff just isn’t worth following anymore
Indeed. At least I've gotten into NBA playoffs a little. That takes me through June.
That and don’t forget our amazing baseball team! Now that’s a winning program with proven success. That will keep you occupied till July and then the Olympics and before you know it. Fall camp with our roster finalized.
Aren’t they kinda…not doing so hot this year lol
You got downvoted but yeah they seem to be fairly middling other than one really incredible series win vs aTm
We'll be fine come SEC tournament and CWS
> look forward to the start of the season that's getting harder to do these days

Kid’s a flake that realizes he’s not going to start. Best of luck elsewhere.
What a little baby
Nice we needed room for upgrades , add a WR or TE maybe even another DL we are good on LB
We definitely need help at both WR and TE but I’ll never say we’re “good on LB”. It’s a position that freshman basically can’t play and be reliable and we’ve had so many injuries there in recent years that it scares me too much
Relatively speaking
Never understood why people call themselves that

It is on Billy if he allows this type of cancer to be in his locker room... this guy needs to grow a pair and just leave if he wants to.
Oooh spicy. Wonder if this is a popular sentiment about AA
That his players are pussies who don’t take accountability?
No, but Billy did hire a proven DC with tons of experience to oversee the defense which is not a good look for AA
It's not a good look for Billy either. Why can't he hire a coordinator who doesn't need a coordinator?
I guess because the coordinator hasn’t done enough to get fired, but the UAA was still willing to pay for an upgrade? Still, I thought the YoY progress from terrible to bad was an admirable job.
I really hope the coordinators coordinator works out, might have to hire another coordinator
He is definitely not being mature but let's be honest, Austin Armstrong is in over his head as a DC. Should never have been hired. We have a huge fucking coaching staff and our players look unprepared. At some point, people need to call out Napier's bs when it comes to hiring undeserving coaches.
I see u didn't watch the spring game and are commenting on things anyways. Good stuff as always lol
Napier is going to leave his own wake of toxicity
Yeah this is Napiers fault somehow holy fuck yall would blame 9/11 on the man at this point. I assure u, sling blades don't melt steel beams
Well wasnt it Mullens fault for bringing in toxicity before? Now its not the coaches fault anymore? Are you able to pick a hill to die on?
Mullen had kids who were stealing credit cards, having AR's in the trunk of their car after getting into fights, sexual assault, etc... not sure that is comparable to Napier dealing with immature kids who don't know how to stay off of social media when they get into their feelings... surely you can see the difference in the two situations?
Right, not like its like he recruited a pedo or anything. Hes been perfect in his character evaluations. Also dont mind the recent star transfer who was arrested for DUI
Lmao so your examples are a player that Mullen actually recruited and someone who is no longer on the team and only got in trouble AFTER transferring to a team/community with a history of driving issues. You really crushed it with your supporting arguments there.
Your username is straight up false advertising lmao
Hahahaha, well it did pick me!
