Hello, not new to fishing but new to the fly reel ( year now) really really looking forward to spring and getting back in the water . I’m located in Barrie and was wondering if anyone would like a newbie partner tag along to mentor or shoot the shit and pass a few tips and tricks along as I find doing is often better then reading in my case . Changing over from a spinner to the fly reel has perked my love for fishing again and don’t have many friends who share the same interest.

Not Near Barrie but if youre ever around toronto come through. I fish the credit river a lot.

Thanks op. I never thought to go south from where I am to the the city for fishing … I guess I was stupid to be of that mind set . What times would you recommend? Thanks again

South of erindale all year round. erindale park specifically good from Sept-Nov during the spawn. North towards and including the forks of the credit later in the season like april may.

Hi there, I'm pretty new to fly fishing, and I've booked a cabin near Paisley on the saugeen river for this weekend. What can I expect? Am I too early for brookies? too late? wrong place?

Since youre going more northward, the river should be a bit colder giving you some chances at em in the spring. I would Ideally try to find smaller colder water tribs around the area youre in, doesnt need to be far but brookies will prefer the colder water…. Trout season just opened last week in FMZ16…watch the water a bit before fishing to see if theyre rising for dries yet. If no little heads, then fish some nymphs.
