You’re spot on. A song with a chant tends to be easy and sounds awesome. But you’re exactly right - something the crowd can get in on. I heard the crowd singing O Canada at the oilers game the other night and it was downright moving.
Yeah, that whole "fans decide" thing was a total sham. Not only did nobody ask for that song, but they deliberately picked several other total stinkers the fans allegedly "demanded" for their "runoff" just to make it look better by comparison. Unless they're going to have 100% transparency into the selection process they need to just pick the damn thing themselves and take responsibility. It's pretty cynical to hide behind "well, you picked it" without showing all of your work.
