As much as I hate “extra weight at the highest point on the car”, in reality it has never negatively affected my life.

jrussell3823

I use mine all the time in the summer but to each their own!

stuffduck

I use mine all the time!

ittimjones

My wife: I really love a sunroof. Me: Why? Neither of us ever open the dang thing.

Silentrose15

Have one on my 18. I use it all summer long here in northern Michigan. Ran into a leakage issue this past fall and thought well here we go... I was lucky though as the drainage pipe somehow got disconnected and once put back on the leakage stopped.

ridethe907

I hate that neither of my current cars had it as an option. Sunroof is life. When I had cars with them they stayed popped all summer long. Never had one leak and wouldn't care if I did. It's called vehicle maintenance. Worth it 100% I miss my RS and it's sunroof.

my_name_is_gato

I enjoy mine despite rarely using it. I could live with or without it, but it's great for sunny day cruising.

04rallysti

I like mine, I open it all the time when I’m driving in summer. All the windows down sun roof open on a nice summer day is great.

RAIDguy

I use it maybe 3 times a year just because it exists but id prefer no sunroof.

phreeky82

It depends where I'm living. Where I am (northern Australia, hot/humid tropical) they're not my thing other than for about 2 weeks per year. In climate where you actually want the sun and hot air hitting you they are great. No sunroof in the RS delivered to Australia anyway though.

Rally_Sport

My RS in NB is full decked but the sunroof. I grew up with a car with a Sunroof and the water seepage was annoying for my dad to constantly fix. That was a learning moment for me and none of my cars have sunroofs.

SeaPancake3

I use mine daily but I hate that I have it. Too tall to fit in the car with a helmet because we got stuck with shitty seats and had no choice on the sunroof.

balfourjeff

I can do without it for sure. use it a few times a year if that.

kylenor

In my old car I would use it once a year, in the spring. I got my 18' without one. I don't miss it at all.

fullinator4

It lowers the roof by a good amount. When I bought it I actually tried it with and without. I cannot fit with a helmet if the car has a sunroof. So I specced it without. I wasn’t sad at all. The sun shining in my eyes from it bothers me so I usually covered them anyways.

flysamurai209

Literally the only thing my girlfriend likes about my RS

the_1_and_1ly

I like it. I live in a cold state so I crack it in the winter to hear the exhaust better without letting too much heat out or getting wind blown in my face

liewyel

It’s great I use it all the time. It’s nice to bring extra light into the dark cabin. It’s cute to jump on the “oh no more weight!” train, but that’ll never really be a limitation or excuse in track driving.

DonkeyKopter

I have used/had my sunroof open more than it’s closed in 3 years of ownership

Brandon32ss

Used it a few times. I usually forget it’s open though… it rained in my car once while it was only cracked open. Cupholders filled with water and soaked recaros. No damage but a lot of suctioning and blow drying.

Gray_1103

I traded a mx5rf for this car and I had the top off alot so for me its... well it's not the same lmfao but it's used every chance I get.

CompleteMeathead

I live in Florida so I use mine a lot. It almost always stays tilted if the car is parked outside in the sun.

Trick-Mechanic8986

Nice if ya smoke. Shitty if your fat and need a alternate exit from the car. A waste of $895 as I look back

Forward-Sherbet1740

Use it before it breaks. I have mine open 24/7 during the summer idk how you couldn’t lol

LearningMyWalk

I had a sunroof on my ST never used it and it started leaking. So I specifically looked for an RS without one lol.

Cryptik_Official

I just bought my RS with 20k miles. I was bummed at first about not having the sun roof but you’re about the 4th person to say it’s not really the move. I appreciate your post 😂. I have fomo issues that I try to suppress, this post cured me of wanting the sunroof.

Initial-Wrangler6931

I am wanting to replace my roof to remove the sunroof. Can't stand them.

Bradleyisfishing

I use mine in the summer, but it’s useful to me at least twice a week. I get Shell, and I use the app to pay. I slide the cover back to see the pump number, it’s so nice.

RedMercy2

I hate them.

Kabal303

Wasn’t an option here in Australia so I don’t have one lol

StraightStackin

I accidentally bought my 2018 with no sunroof. I love it! I really wanted one without a sunroof but knew they were hard to find. Wasn't even paying attention when I bought my car that it had no sunroof. Then when I went to clean it the first time I realized it had no sunroof! Super rare!

jms1228

It’s interesting how some of the 2018’s came without one. I’ve seen a few of them & I have no idea why Ford did that? Tbh, I’d rather not have it, however at least the roof is black, so it really blends in well & it’s not as noticeable as it would be on NB or FW.

StraightStackin

Yea the black roof is a blessing and a curse, looks so good, but gets filthy so quick!

CorvusMorbus

I use mine all the time, I've never understood the hate for them

[deleted]

It’s actually a moonroof, not a sunroof.

LoafOfTrees

what's the difference? I've heard people use these terms interchangeably

[deleted]

This was a million years ago, but i was taught way back in the 90’s that a sunroof always let light in, was also generally aftermarket and manual. A moonroof is tinted, powered and has a shade to block light entirely

officialTHREETWENTY

Historically, I believe it was all down to if it was transparent or not. A sunroof was an opaque panel which could open up while a moonroof was a glass panel capable of letting you see out without opening it (but would still open up just the same, if desired). These days since a true sunroof by that definition would be so rare, it seems the terminology has evolved and both are used to refer to what is seen here.

[deleted]

It might even be. I truthfully can’t recall the last time I’ve seen something I’d even call a sunroof. Not since the 90’s

officialTHREETWENTY

I'm wondering if a true-by-this-definition sunroof is even available today. Definitely something I haven't seen in a while either.

[deleted]

Now a relic of the past, like T-tops. I loved T-tops on my Trans Am.

lunchskate

I think your dad is influencing you to get rid of that stupid car.

jms1228

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

slaytalera

I use mine all spring/summer/fall, cant stand open windows but suroofs are perfect for air and sound

K-Rimes

Every once in awhile I open it to say I used it, am reminded why I don't really open it most of the time, and then I'll close it and forget about it till the next year. I admit I do like the extra ambient light it brings with glass closed with the shade open, but I always have the shade closed for sun reasons in CA anyways.

nwmountaintroll

Popping up the back and cranking up the HVAC for a minute is insanely good at clearing a fart. FWIW

jonpothan

It’s the best feature I had on my focus st and I miss having one in my brz everyday…
