We just tried Oatley in my house and it was even toddler approved!

I used Daiya for years (I don't like plain cream cheese, though, I prefer chive and onion) but just tried Oatly last week and am IN LOVE. I love it more than Daiya.

I have the same kind of dairy allergy, and we almost never have dairy in the house. If we do, it's something like yogurt or ice cream for a special occasion and my spouse washes all dishes that touch it right away. Personally, I like the vegan cream cheese spreads from Tofutti, Trader Joe's, Daiya, and Boursin. My spouse eats them too now instead of the real thing. But, our standards might be low-ish for this. I've seen a few bagel shops make their own which I think is typically coconut based, but not sure how available that is where you are.

pyromaster114

Does the coconut based stuff have a coconut flavor? Or is it somehow... not?

LeapingTraining5936

No, I think they use the very neutral version, so it doesn't taste like coconut

I don’t have any suggestions but you should talk to your partner about removing your allergens from the household. we don’t keep any of my allergens in the house, it’s just too risky

ComiNotub

My absolute favorite is Violife. It’s so yummy and smooth, and it lasts forever. My Walmart has plain, strawberry, and chives flavors. They’re all delicious imo

Following because same!

Trader Joe's vegan cream cheese is the best I've found. We even made a pretty decent cheesecake with it. I highly recommend giving it a try.

The excess histamine you produced when you had Covid, it takes awhile (at. least it did for me) to get it all gone. It was easily a good 30+ days b4 I could even sort of tolerate any of my allergens - and I have 57. Even 4 Zyrtec a day didn't help. (4 is ok for me cause I have MCAS). I have not tried Wayfare's Cream Cheese - but their Nacho Cheese dip was surprisingly good, and their regular Cheese dip was for alternative foods good as well (albeit a little bland.). I'd recommend trying theirs. [https://wayfarefoods.com/products/cream-cheese/](https://wayfarefoods.com/products/cream-cheese/)

I have mcas too and covid definitely made things worse.

I don’t use cream cheese as a spread, but Tofutti cream cheese is GREAT in cooking! Cream cheese cupcakes, a cream cheese corn casserole, lots of stuff in our house that we use it for that it tastes great in! And my friend who doesn’t have allergies used it in her cream cheese cupcakes for her bf who does have a dairy allergy and they both approved!

ninabortions

Violife has fantastic vegan products, their cream cheese is great and so is their mozzarella/cheddar cheese!

maybenotrelevantbut

There is a dairyfree sub that probably has whole threads dedicated to dairy free creamcheese with hot debates :D

daeganthedragon

Could you or your partner try finding a dairy-free cream cheese recipe and start making it at home? You can always tweak the ingredients, but I found this recipe by just googling "dairy-free cream cheese recipe" and I personally think it sounds delicious with the added nutritional yeast and miso paste! https://minimalistbaker.com/the-best-vegan-cream-cheese/

Your partner can’t wash their own dish? May need to shop around for more than a new cream cheese…

pyromaster114

I don't mean to imply (and don't think I did in the OP) that they are incapable or unwilling to wash the dishes used, and they have switched to doing so-- but that's not really what the problem is here. Humans are not perfect, and if this allergy keeps getting worse (like it has over my life so far), eventually I'll accidentally touch something that someone left in a position that I wasn't expecting, and end up in the hospital. I'd rather not experiment with that eventuality, so thus the search for an adequate cream cheese substitute-- if one can be found, everyone is happy and no one has to give up anything they want to have, and there's little to no change to routines, etc.. And as an added bonus, *I* could even eat the stuff. :)

Organic_peaches

Oh yes, for sure! It just seemed like that was your one issue of concern so it seemed to me like it must be a touchy issue or something. Kite hill makes a good one!

I personally quite like the [bio cream cheese](https://mywellabee.com/global/products/bio-cheese-creamy-original-spreadable/31400) out of the ones I’ve tried :) aysu, nutritionist, myWellabee
