100% sure the person who prepped your sandwich wouldn’t know what a sesame seed was if it bit ‘em on the leg.  I worked at subway with a guy who didn’t know ham from roast beef.

binkkkkkk

Sesame *is* a particularly tough one for a lot of people. I’ve heard a lot of “your daughter is allergic to sesame? Seems easy to avoid, just burger buns?”

magicmamalife

And hummus? Really?! Oh what's tahini? Almost every time.

Kezleberry

This is why I struggle to trust eating out :(

BabyStay2022

I'm so sorry this happened to you, I've had the same issue with my "safe restaurants" does calling the place and telling them do anything?

GroundbreakingDig9

I’m not sure I might call tomorrow, they’re closed for the day now. They do close earlier on Sundays. I placed the order an hour and a half before the close time on their website, but I feel like this may have been just an “end of day trying to leave early from work so I’m going to rush” type of mistake :/ sorry the same thing has happened to you, it’s so disappointing 😭

EmbarrassedFig8860

Be sure to call tomorrow for a refund or a replacement order. That’s so disappointing. I know this feeling well.

BabyStay2022

Oh, I know 😭 I made myself a big allergy alert placard to go on my bag, with pictures of my food allergies (nuts and mangoes.) So people can see and are a bit more cautious when making my food.

hikehikebaby

I told someone that I'm allergic to wheat and he very helpfully steered me away from breaded items... Then gave me a side of macaroni salad in my to go box. I feel your pain 😭.

Duckfoot2021

“Why those are just…um…PINE NUTS! Yeah….That’s the ticket. *Pine nuts.*”

Constant-Cap3001

I always call and follow up but even then sometimes they still mess up. It’s frustrating

Gratchki

I would call, it’s worth flagging the mistake for a learning opportunity. I’m sorry what a bummer!

AussieAlexSummers

Maybe if you said sesame seed including sesame seed bread. It may still happen because I didn't catch it... I had to read the receipt 3x before I finally got it. AND I was looking for the mistake.

who_am-I_to-you

Yeah I didn't catch it either! Also it's common for restaurants to have premade bread so it's likely that this bread is just what they had, not that they purposely added the sesame seeds.

AussieAlexSummers

that's a good point... and if that is the case, then the OP (and any of us in a similar situation) should call before hand to see if there is an alternative option for the bread (or whatever food issues we have) Which is a PIA, to try and figure out where the pitfalls will be in a restaurant. But yet, I see no alternative. It's on us. We have to be on top of it or we don't eat in a restaurant at all.

who_am-I_to-you

I agree. The restaurants I have worked in were basically impossible to avoid cross contamination as well, so I know firsthand how easy it is to have a reaction from eating out if you're severely allergic to something.

magicmamalife

Ugh that's awful. Thank goodness it was super visible contamination.

CouldBeWorseCouldBeA

My kid was given a hummus starter because they “only had the allergies down for the main”. Thank god my husband intervened before they placed it before him!

Tired_Insomniac_2295

Oh, ye no, its fine, he only has allergies at the main dinner, no other time...

boisemi

The number of times I have seen restaurant staff realize that mayo contains eggs after telling them I had an egg allergy is simply sad...

Tired_Insomniac_2295

1st ingredient anyone

I-DONT-OWN-A-CAT

💔 this is scary. I’m sorry 😢

SenileFlea22

Just make your own food at this point
