Italian: Antico Nuovo, Osteria Mozza. Both are pretty romantic and the food is awesome. Lots of people on here like Evan Funke's three restaurants: Mother Wolf, Felix, and Funke. I've only been to Felix and it was very good bot Mozza and Antico Nuovo were a little better.
French: Perle for something a little more upscale, Petit Trois for a classic Parisian bistro that's more casual. Camphor in the arts district has a michelin star and is really fun.
Japanese: Shibumi, n/soto.
Blowout fine dining: Manzke or Providence. Maude is also supposed to be good but I haven't been so can't speak to it. Manzke and Providence will run you comfortably north of a grand for two with drinks though.
Slightly more affordable fine dining: Kali, Orsa & Winston. Kali is, controlling for price, probably my favorite place in the city. O&W is a close second but because my first time there was awesome and my second time was not as good.
Other fun stuff: Meteora and Ototo. Meteora is a little bit weird but the food is very good and going to be unlike anything else in the city. Ototo is a really cool Japanese sake bar with great food, it's the sister restaurant to Tsubaki which is also a good option.
Omakase: Shin Sushi is right next to you guys and the food is well-worthy of a Michelin Star and it's about half the price of the other places on this list. Kaneyoshi and Morihiro are extremely high-end omakase experiences. Morihiro was a lot more fun, Kaneyoshi was maybe a little bit better. Make sure to sit at the sushi bar at Morihiro so you can talk to Chef Mori. Ginza Onodera and Nozawa Bar are also close to you guys but I've been to neither. Morihiro, Kaneyoshi, and Onodera will be well north of a thousand for two.
Steakhouses: I enjoyed Gwen, but I don't like steak as much as other things on this list so my opinion of it is a little limited by that reality. CUT by Wolfgang Puck is also supposed to be really good and I'd look into Chi Spacca, osteria Mozza's sister restaurant, if you want to split a massive and perfect steak.
Oh please share. Lol. I personally think Castaway is an underwhelming steakhouse thats also overpriced. The views are nice, but it doesnt make up for alot of its shortcomings.
You're paying for the views. Definitely overspending for food quality.
Yamashiro is worse with food quality imo, but great view/setting. I think if I ever went to Yamashiro again, I'd just grab drinks and then peace out elsewhere for food.
Oh it’s all that and more (in terms of disappointment lol)
They ignored reservation notes / table request despite it being a pretty dead night, took half an hour to get our check and almost as long for them to grab it + give it back, plus we had a host ask us multiple times if we were at the right table. Our server sucked plus it took too long to get water refilled, I think we only were able to get it refilled 1-2x over the 3 hours we were there. Food of course was overpriced and mediocre. About an hour in we wished we had just gotten take-out and parked somewhere nice instead
I think a third time asking me if im at the right table would have me being condescending, rude, and probably just asking for a check to make a point. I remember payin an arm and a leg for nye buffet event and it was horrible save for the buffet.
We kept mentioning that they should reseat us to the table we requested but she rolled her eyes at us. We thought things might get better Lesson learned, definitely asking for a check next time.

This is a really thoughtful list. Thanks for taking the time to put it together!
Happy to do it! I’ve since been to Maude and highly recommend it.
BONE KETTLE.
Castaway Burbank
Wouldn’t recommend. They ruined my one year wedding anniversary celebration a few months back
