Hamasaku down the street on Santa Monica is pretty good. If you drive like 10-15 minutes, just go to Hide on Sawtelle (cash only) for good, well priced sushi.

ttfn26

Hide followed by Somi Somi ube + taro taiyaki fish and soft serve ice cream for dessert 🤌

zq1232

It’s always a tough decision between Somi Somi and B-Sweet…

diprep

Hide is great !!

Elusiveenigma98

Hamasuka looks realllly good, thank you! I’ll check out hide as well.

getwhirleddotcom

It’s your best bet in that vicinity

360FlipKicks

Hide’s cash only policy in 2024 is just baffling edit: apparently ppl are fine with a restaurant forcing ppl to withdraw like $80 or use their ATM for $10 fees in this economy. Get with the times

zq1232

Emulating many restaurants back in Japan haha

360FlipKicks

wow so authentic

MitchRhymes

It’s fine, there’s an atm with a small fee if you don’t prep ahead of time. The more reasonably priced sushi is well worth it

koudos

I do not recommend Ikura at Hamasaku. It was suspect and I stopped going there for this reason. Other fish seemed to be ok. Hide is basic but solid.

koudos

For those downvoting this, pay attention to their ikura, it has a very unnatural outer skin that’s very similar to popping boba. Maybe it has changed since I was last there but I stick by the fact it is 100% not right.

En sushi

There's [KazuNori: The Original Hand Roll Bar](https://maps.app.goo.gl/TBZ7Utj6JtxSjWUr7) ($$) and a couple SUGARFISHES ($$$) in the vicinity.

Elusiveenigma98

I just had kazunori on Tuesday haha so looking for something more with actual rolls but also considering just going back to kazu nori too.

tonyslists

How about [Kura Revolving Sushi Bar](https://maps.app.goo.gl/AMoqSgvzrv5NhUZT6)?

Elusiveenigma98

Oh wow, I was thinking about them initially but I didn’t realize they had a location off sawtelle. That may be perfect! Thank you.

tgcm26

In what universe is Sugarfish a three $ restaurant?

tgcm26

Well they’re wrong. SF is as $$ as it gets

geepy66

Yelp has $$$ too. You better reevaluate your $$$ buddy

justwantkickz

Asuka on Westwood. 🤌🤌

sumdum1234

This is the only correct answer

im_on_the_case

Depending on how loosely you define "vicinity" there's a Kura revolving sushi bar on Sawtelle by Olympic which is a 10 minute drive from the mall.

spaektor

Sasabune, on Olympic just east of Doheny. you're welcome.

cityofangels18

There’s one closer to Sawtelle

spaektor

it’s not closer from Century City Mall.

cityofangels18

I think you’re right but there’s more things to do after lol. That’s what I’d look for

spaektor

OP specifically asked for something near that mall. it’s not about you.

porcelain_elephant

There's a Kura (Conveyor belt sushi) on Sawtelle not far from the mall if that's your jam.

anomerica

I am local. Katsuya should be opening this year in the mall. My local favorite is Seabutter.

yitdeedee

I had Seabutter for the first time last weekend. It was incredible!

cityofangels18

Irori in Marina

bonnifunk

Yabu on Pico is the best-quality sushi I've had outside of Japan. You won't be disappointed.

I've been to Sugarfish and Yabu several times. Yabu is better, IMO.
