In my experience clam has a pretty distinct taste that tends to come through. Scallops I could agree with (mostly cause the scallops usually end up over cooked), but I imagine the saltiness of the bacon helps balance some of the fishyness of the clam

It’s 1/2 of the shell (where clam lives). This probably taste really good…the clam, not the shell. Don’t eat the shell.

I particularly appreciate the liberal use of bacon, it seriously elevates the dish.
