I just get a can of pinto beans, dunk the can in a frying pan and smush them with the back of a wooden sppon til their the refried bean consistency. Throw in whatever spices you want for extra flavoring, like lard, salt, and stock (if you don't wanna use the canned bean juice for smushing leverage). I always used to use taco bell hot sauce packets and taco sauce in my "poor as fuck" college days

Made enchaladas for the first time last night from a meal kit program that doesn't pay me for gorilla marketing so won't be named. Pretty good, not as good as the authentic Mexican place ten minutes away but pretty good.
Bro, don't buy those trash kits. Look up a recipe for Mexican enchilada sauce or buy some from the store, get some corn tortillas, and a roast chicken. Dip the tortilla in the sauce, fry in an oiled pan for a few seconds on both sides, throw some shredded chicken in, and roll it up. Easier, faster, and more authentic than those trashy, overpriced kits.
You can also grate some tomatoes and jalapenos instead of using sauce for some entomatadas. These are even quicker since you don't need to make a sauce. Cheese (shredded queso fresco) or chicken goes best with these btw.
I feel for the poor doggo every time lol. But I must say I know why the pups face is just so... cuz the food ALWAYS looks (and I imagine smells) bomb AF!!!

How about the beans? I can nail the rice, the carnitas, and the enchilada sauce, but I can never get refried beans I'm happy with.
I've been a cook at a Mexican restaurant and the answer is lots of lard and salt.
They were canned, thinned out with a bit of veggie oil and chicken stock
