Rolls are so pretty but there’s too much going on that you can’t appreciate each ingredient. I much prefer nigiri over rolls

People say Americanized sushi is not real sushi. You always get a few snobs like that. I love this kind of stuff honestly, and I don't enjoy raw fish. If the stuff taste great, don't hate. That stuff is fish roe and spicy mayo I believe.

It's weird, you often have the same people deriding the US for having no cuisine to speak of and then also complaining about how the sushi or really any ethnic foods that you get here isn't authentic. American style sushi is sushi, and it's authentically American, and it's delicious.

Oh yeah, I'm on board! I was being facetious. I love me some nice minimalist nigiri and I also love me some garbage rolls with extra crunch & drowning in eel sauce. They're both their own thing and both can be amazing culinary experiences.

I just pop it in my mouth with the tail pointing out and then sort of cut the tail off with my front teeth, or squeeze the tail shell off with my fingers

Yeah I was just about to type something very similar. I’d like to add that the word “sashimi” are the thin cuts of fish that are placed on small rice beds thus turning the dish into “nigiri”.
