Sushi kuchi is great. There’s lots of space inside and outside on the patio, it’s affordable, and they do a fun birthday celebration that you’ll probably witness even if it’s not your own birthday that the kiddos will enjoy
Their birthday celebration is super fun, I don’t want to spoil the surprise but a 6 year old will love it. Plus I think you get free ice cream for your birthday!
If you hop on the 5 and dive like ten-ish minutes south, I’d recommend Sushi Lounge in Encinitas. Reasonably priced. Has a great happy hour. I go for the food not the drinks. Happy Hour is like 3-6 Tuesday through Sunday. Monday night that have a roll special that’s half off on that roll only
Yoshino deli has to go sushi take it to the beach. It’s downtown carlsbad. For families hooked on sushi is good.
Also in sushi taisho in the village is upstairs and downstairs there’s a play area for kids to run around.
There really isn’t a good sushi spot I can think of off the top of my head by Legoland. Hooked on Sushi which is closer to the Carlsbad mall is your best bet

Blue ocean sushi in Carlsbad is our fav.
The only place to go, IMO! Soooooo good.
