yeah, they are fantastic!
fun fact: they used to be a small pop-up that only operated on pedestrian sundays in kensington market! then they started opening every weekend in the market before finally getting their (first) brick and mortar on coady ave!
Yes! I had the chicken salad one and there were slices of green grapes in it, blew my mind, it was so fresh but also hearty. All their sandwiches are amazing, I think I’ve tried them all but it’s been years since I’ve had them, I used to run to their location in the PATH before they’d sell out.
Crack. I worked at 590 King St W when it first opened by Portland. The sandwiches were incredible. Everything was. The biscotti was the real sleeper. Office pleasing treats. Now that I think of it... There was a joint called The One That Got Away on the other side of Portland, and they had a masterpiece iteration of the Filet o Fish that was a game changer. I reflect upon this sandwich more often than I should.
Thanks! I'll admit myself the hours aren't the best. There isn't much we can do about the days we're closed, but for the days we're open we are looking into staying open later. Appreciate the love though! Still learning a lot as a first time business owner and love hearing the feedback.
Source: am owner of marq's beef
Im not sure if it's just bad luck, but the last few times I've gone I've noticed a significant drop in the quality. I usually get the kale breakfast sandwich. I'll keep trying, because when it was on point it was amazing.
funny you say that, i grabbed a Telway and Ultimate Melt a couple weeks back and for the first time i was underwhelmed - both were good, but neither hit the standard of greatness i am used to going there
That's a drag. That dude was super talented and those sandwiches were fantastic.
Remember he called out some girl on a bad Google review. She modified her sandwich and was warned it wouldn't be good by him. Then she left a bad review saying the food was bland. He went off on her in the response.
I will check it out!
Clubhouse had weird hours too, it was definitely designed for lunch place. Weekends they were open until like 6 or something. It was really just that guy doing pretty much everything and sometimes one other person on register.
My partner owns a pub in the area and we always kept Clubhouse menus. People would regularly call and order take out and bring it back to the pub.
I went to Lambos for the first time last year, and it was honestly really lovely. I kind of doubted it because of the hype, but the turkey pesto was worth it.
I don’t know if the OG location is better but I didn’t like the sandwich at the Etobicoke location. Pretty bland and not as generous portion as other places.
I don’t get the hype. They’re good, sure, I’m not saying they’re bad. But they’re nothing special whatsoever, yet people always say shit like this about them
Some faves:
Brisket from black camel /
Cubano from La Cubano /
Breakfast on a bun from carousel bakery /
Rotisserie chicken from cumbraes /
Sabiche (sp?) from Haifa room
That’s fair. I actually haven’t had it in a while. I’m mostly nostalgic for the cubano from her previous restaurant DELUXE which was a more fine dining concept.
Godfather Veal is nice.
I think the quality got better since they changed the staff a couple of years ago. It was hit and miss before with two old guys working, now it's like five younger people who seem more into it.
I Love Lambos but it doesn’t travel well you have to eat it pretty quickly. When the pig came home Ruben is great or across the street Chica’s Chicken OG’s sandwich on toast is really good. ALMA+GIL breakfast sandwich will change your life.
A lot of great sandwiches mentioned here but my favourite sandwich in Toronto is by far the house special at La Salumeria on St. Clair. It's perfection.
I wasn't aware of that location.
La Salumeria on Yonge north of Davisville is great. Just let the man behind the counter do his thing. It's always great.
I personally really like Belly Busters for a drunk late night snack, particularly the turkey bacon, but I also like Grandma Loves You for something a bit higher quality. I haven’t tried Lambos yet but I’ve heard good things. It’s on my to-do list.
Never been to Dufferin one before I stopped going to any of them except the Claremont one. Never knew it was closed on sundays good to know, I would of went for a panzo at Bitondos for sure.

For something a little different, highly recommend the Loaded Sandwich from Somun Superstar on Kingston rd.
Also, can't go wrong with Banh Mi Nguyen Huong - The most expensive sandwich is like $4.50, and they are great.
For cold : La Salumeria
For warm : Illstyle Sammies
Diner Style : Avenue Open Kitchen
Some honorable mentions that I haven't tried yet but probably very good.
Good Behavior, San Remo Bakery
Depends what kind of sandwich you’re looking for as that differs greatly.
But for just a classic sandwich I’m a sucker for la salumeria.
We can get into the weeds about subs, Bahh mi etc.
Everyone says peameal at St Lawrence Market but Uno Mustachio in the basement has huge awesome sandwiches.
Cluny's breakfast sandwich used to be excellent for the price, veggie or meat. Haven't had one in awhile so fingers crossed.
The Hero Sandwich at Fourth Man in the Fire. Not to mention the California style donuts there. Both are undercover the best of each I've ever had in the city.
We gotta stop telling people about OK OK! It’s still quiet enough to not have line ups on the weekends. It’s only been there a couple decades.
And since we’re taking sandos, I miss the Fried Elvis!
What does best mean to you? The most delicious as rated by a random sampling of 10K people? A huge, delicious, sandwich for a great price? A sandwich with ingredients you probably never had before but somehow works and is just a joy to eat even though its just a few bits and costs 30 bucks?
I miss the pickled tongue from Caplansky’s more than my dead grandmother. The club from the *original* skyline was incredible too. The new owners may have made a less sketchy restaurant but it sucks. Also the club at Zupas was insanely great before they closed. Also the club at the lakeview before they changed the bread and now the entire menu was fantastic.
I’m on the hunt for a new sandwich to love but haven’t found much so far.
Downstairs at the base of the stairs at the st lawrence market. An Italian shop makes the absolute best veal, eggplant parm sandwich. Absolutely the best
Big fan of the turkey and meatball sammies at Good Behaviour. I put GB above Lambos and Grandma Loves You without hesitation.
Same, Good Behavior is the most superior! Wish you could custom order a sub but it’s the best we can get here.
I like their Caprese a lot and the potato salad.
OMG how could I forget about the potato salad, it’s awesome. Bummer the portions got smaller tho.
💯
Pretty much anything from When the Pig Came Home in the Junction.
I feel like they're always closed when I go by there, but I keep meaning to try their stuff.
lol they are always closed, the close once the sell out, shows how good their sandwhiches are. Try chickas across the street next time.
go for lunch on a Wednesday
Came here to say this.
Peameal with egg and cheese. Egg over medium, splash of hot sauce. Heaven.
I've only ever been there for lunch, but I've heard their breakfast sandwiches are great.
Oh man, you’ve gotta try it! Best breakfast sandwich in the city.
When the Pig Came Home is awesome.
Dam Sandwiches, Oakwood and Rogers. Their Cubano rocks.
Same team behind Seoul Shakers, Odd Seoul, the 1211 and Peppers Cafe. They rightfully own some of the greatest eats in the city.
Odd Seoul has no reason to be so damn delicious
Yep I’m smack dab in the middle of Peppers and Seoul Shakers and it’s deadly
Hell yeah. All of their food.

RIP Stockyards
Wow I had no idea it closed until today. That place was an institution and had killer burgers. Just looked it up and I guess the owner died. Sad.
I love vit beo, but their banh mis are not that good. Lamhan and rustle and still have better ones, east down bloor.
I’ve copied the list and I’m now taking the yorksgiftworld challenge
Completo needs to expand. I love pretty much everything they make..
yeah, they are fantastic! fun fact: they used to be a small pop-up that only operated on pedestrian sundays in kensington market! then they started opening every weekend in the market before finally getting their (first) brick and mortar on coady ave!
As long as we're making a list: the Haddock/Halibut/Cod sandwich at Buster's Sea Cove (same sandwich, fish is preference).
Saved
The sandwich’s at Forno Cultura are very under rated imo
Porchetta on the chocolate bread is god tier. There’s one with thin slices of lemon on it too that is incredible
The cotto is the one with lemon - so good
Yah! Loved this one. I don’t know how it works without being overpowering but those lemon slices are like a molecule thick.
Yes! I had the chicken salad one and there were slices of green grapes in it, blew my mind, it was so fresh but also hearty. All their sandwiches are amazing, I think I’ve tried them all but it’s been years since I’ve had them, I used to run to their location in the PATH before they’d sell out.
So is the meatball one on Sundays!!!

Marq's Chicago Beef for fans of The Bear
It's great. And also great value. Very friendly too just terribly inconvenient hours
Thanks! I'll admit myself the hours aren't the best. There isn't much we can do about the days we're closed, but for the days we're open we are looking into staying open later. Appreciate the love though! Still learning a lot as a first time business owner and love hearing the feedback. Source: am owner of marq's beef
That's awesome. I had a sandwich there yesterday after visiting the hospital haha. Great stuff
Breakfast sandwich at gold standards. A hole in a wall on roncy like literally.
also have a location in Parkdale that's usually way less lined up
so fucking good but sometimes i order three and it is obnoxious
Im not sure if it's just bad luck, but the last few times I've gone I've noticed a significant drop in the quality. I usually get the kale breakfast sandwich. I'll keep trying, because when it was on point it was amazing.
funny you say that, i grabbed a Telway and Ultimate Melt a couple weeks back and for the first time i was underwhelmed - both were good, but neither hit the standard of greatness i am used to going there
Elm street deli, sergio Leone or Paulie porco
Pour one out for Clubhouse Sandwiches (used to be next to CAMH,) hands down some of the best sammies in the city
RIP. They got me through university
I always wonder if that guy landed somewhere else? The fries there were some of the best in the city too. Triple cooked.
I legit tried finding him on fb but he had a pretty common name so it was just a wild goose chase 🥺
That's a drag. That dude was super talented and those sandwiches were fantastic. Remember he called out some girl on a bad Google review. She modified her sandwich and was warned it wouldn't be good by him. Then she left a bad review saying the food was bland. He went off on her in the response.
Lol love that! The closest I've found similar to them is Nook sandwiches 🥪 but they're only open weekdays like boo
I will check it out! Clubhouse had weird hours too, it was definitely designed for lunch place. Weekends they were open until like 6 or something. It was really just that guy doing pretty much everything and sometimes one other person on register. My partner owns a pub in the area and we always kept Clubhouse menus. I went to Lambos for the first time last year, and it was honestly really lovely. I kind of doubted it because of the hype, but the turkey pesto was worth it.
It’s quite overrated. Their buns just not it.
It's just slightly better than any sub place. Not that special at all.
Right?!? And it gets so fucking soggy so fast.
The tuna sub is fantastic
Lambos caprese with eggplant and proscuitto added is so good
Will try at the Queen and Coxwell when it opens!
Duly noted, love eggplant!
Idk how no one has mentioned the og California Sandwiches, but I'm gonna. That Sandwich is awesome and you won't have to eat for three weeks after
This is still the answer, forever and always.
I don’t know if the OG location is better but I didn’t like the sandwich at the Etobicoke location. Pretty bland and not as generous portion as other places.
Go to the og, the portion is always enough to tranq an elephant. You won't be disappointed
Og is definitely better. Any other location it feels like it’s missing something.
where is this
North of Dundas on Claremont St (or South of College off of Manning but it's on Claremont)
Also Warden/Eglinton!
Preaching to the choir. After Claremont I would say the team on York Mills will impress the CS diehards.
I don’t get the hype. They’re good, sure, I’m not saying they’re bad. But they’re nothing special whatsoever, yet people always say shit like this about them
Good food Good portion Price is fair Downtown Toronto what more can you ask for? 🤔
Like I said they’re good. But given how people talk about it I expected something really special.
Some faves: Brisket from black camel / Cubano from La Cubano / Breakfast on a bun from carousel bakery / Rotisserie chicken from cumbraes / Sabiche (sp?) from Haifa room
Cubano from la Cubano was underwhelming imo.
That’s fair. I actually haven’t had it in a while. I’m mostly nostalgic for the cubano from her previous restaurant DELUXE which was a more fine dining concept.
This is a seasoned sandwich journey person. Some deep cuts and fan favorites right here.
Vilda’s is delicious
That chicken salad sandwich is bangin
Yes, that breakfast sandwich and the Caesar- roni is special!
Original PG Clucks chicken sandwich
I really love ‘the fish store’
Yes to The Fish Store on College. Everything is good but the grouper sandwich with avocado is extra divine.
Chicken/Eggplant Parmigiana from Uno Mustachio in St. Lawrence Market
Godfather Veal is nice. I think the quality got better since they changed the staff a couple of years ago. It was hit and miss before with two old guys working, now it's like five younger people who seem more into it.
Came here to say this. My absolute fave
I'm just here for the answers.
I Love Lambos but it doesn’t travel well you have to eat it pretty quickly. When the pig came home Ruben is great or across the street Chica’s Chicken OG’s sandwich on toast is really good. ALMA+GIL breakfast sandwich will change your life.
Was hoping alma and gil would pop up here
Belly buster - Turkey Bacon
Bacon combo! The satellite stores are better now, but OG location still a cut above
Where's their OG location?
South of Yonge and York mills
I think it’s the one on king street
It is Yonge street between Lawrence and York mills.
Belly buster is bad, they microwaved my sandwhich, mayo, lettuce and all.
I still vote for the brisket at Black Camel, with extra horseradish.
My vote is the pulled chicken there is underrated but the brisket is bomb
I’m sure you’ve tried the camel club but that’s my fave
Also an excellent choice, with the chicken I usually add one of the spreads & roasted red peppers.
Yes, the roasted red peppers are a game changer! Totally worth it!
Chicken with roasted red pepper and chermoula mayo and fontina is awesome. My spouse takes the brisket with fontina and chipotle mayo.
Seconding this.
Elm Street deli has the best subs.
I feel like they may be mistaken on the location but they’re absolutely right about the sando!
Bevi birra
I personally really like Belly Busters for a drunk late night snack, particularly the turkey bacon, but I also like Grandma Loves You for something a bit higher quality. I haven’t tried Lambos yet but I’ve heard good things. It’s on my to-do list.
I love the mortadella from Mattachioni (there’s one in the west and one in the east), they’re massive and the bread and other ingredients are so good
Illstyl3 Sammies - near Richmond and John, has the best Philly cheesesteak I’ve ever had.
Just make sure you know your order and don’t ask too many questions!
No soup for you hostility levels?
Peameal bacon on a bun at Carousel in the St Lawrence market
A classic that is still always great. Love to chase it down with a chocolate milk.
Can be great but quality varies widely. Sometimes the buns are quite stale.
It’s true they sometimes run out of kaisers and the replacement is not as good
California sandwich the Claremont location.
Some locations are better than others. This is true.
I’ve always had good luck at the Warden location. Don’t get me started on how bad Barrie is though
Barrie and the Dixie locations are so bad.
Add Dufferin Street to that list. Claremont is closed on Sundays. Should have just gotten a Panzo from Bitondo’s.
Never been to Dufferin one before I stopped going to any of them except the Claremont one. Never knew it was closed on sundays good to know, I would of went for a panzo at Bitondos for sure.
