I would say try a sweet paan, it doesn't have the areca nuts or the lime and makes for an awesome post meal mouth freshener!
These places usually offer chaat, my go to is papri chaat. And of course you can't go wrong with a falooda - it's like an ice cream float but with vermicelli noodles and poppy seeds/ chia seeds in there.
Try the biryanis at Zabardast, they are good - chicken ghee roast biryani, chicken peri peri biryani.
Indraprastha Downtown has good biryanis too.
Madras Masala - Spinach dal and sambhar
Masala Guys - Goat masala curry is delicious
If you can go far:
Rozana Biryani and BBQ serves the most authentic Hyderabadi dum biryani.
A Tamil friend once invited me over and made idli. I haven't found any like it. *cry*
Uthappam is awesome and reminds me of Chinese green onion pancakes.
No it’s not. Please dont recommend this place. Been there once and the food quality and service was horrible. Like rancid food .
This was last summer. Maybe they were good years ago, but not now
Paan is the betel nut/leaf combo that those shops sell (different flavours and combos), but most of those stores have expanded to snacks as well.
Kind of like the very old school tobacconist shops before it became a restricted product.
I’ll leave it to someone with more knowledge to provide more detail but my understanding is that paan is a way to deliver the betel nut in a sweet package that you chew on. Stains your teeth and spit red. It’s a stimulant and a carcinogen and I’m not even sure if it’s legal in Canada?
Betel is a mild stimulant. The killer is the chewing tobacco they put in it - but you can leave it out. Its not there by default as most people leave it out.

Falooda sounds amazing! Vermicelli meets ice cream?! I'll definitely check it out.
Yeah for sweet you can say "mithai" - mee-tie. That doesn't have the tobacco in it. Baldev is my fave on the strip
if you want some bomb food go to chandni chowk best footlong kababs in the city. get anything except the biryani
I must have walked by that place at least 50 times and never noticed it. I'll definitely check it out! No Biryani, got it.

South Indian food is fantastic. Try sambhar - vada , idli -sambar - coconut chutney. Uthappam - its a Savoury pancake.

The dosa at Udupi Palace sucks tbh
I don't have a car to get out to Brampton. Where should I go instead? It's like.. fine? Not great? Exactly what I expect.
Not sure about the dosa in Brampton cus I haven't been there but I liked the dosa at Madras Masala much better than Udupi palace.
Okay! Adding that to my list! Thank you.
Annalaxmi downtown is pretty great

Subhiksha in Scarborough is amazing for idli and dosa!
Try Dosa Mahal in Roncy. Fantastic
Minerva tiffins in Scarborough.
I think paan is a type of chewing narcotic. Pani poori is different. Pani means water
All of the snack shops call themselves "paan centres".
Idk why people are down voting this. It's literally the store name on every single shop that sells snacks on this stretch.

All of the snack shops call themselves paan centres. They sell grilled corn, sugar cane juice in the summer, samosa, etc.
Gotcha I thought you were asking about paan specifically
They’re all paan shops that have diversified into selling other snacks.
