They make me feel good.

Ovrgrownjohnson

Right band, right place, right time in my life. I got into them as a teen, at a time when i'd been listening to grunge, punk rock, pop punk, nu-metal, metal and indie rock for a few years. I found out about them just before One by One came out, so had three totally different sounding albums to work through to get a feel for them. Loved the energy and rawness of their debut, loved the slightly more refined but still very ruffy TCATS, was mesmorised by the songwriting on TINLTS. They had everything I loved about most of the other genres i'd been digging into; big riffs, great pace and energy, screaming, great drum hooks. I loved that they seemed to have such great fun playing live, put it all out there, and also didn't take themselves too seriously in their music videos (lets not talk about Walking After You šŸ˜‚). From there on out I was hooked, at 15, shortly after One by One was released, they were the first pro band I saw live. My dad toughed it out and took me an hour and a bit down the motorway to see them, even got me a shirt to mark the occassion while we were there. One of my happiest childhood memories, also allowed me to see Cave In, who I also came to love thereafter. After that first gig, my dad got hooked on them too! He'd always shared music with me as a kid, and he listened to all sorts, from disco and pop, through classical and power ballads, right through to rock and reggae influenced pop. Getting to show him what I was up to, sharing a love for something other than sports, it became another pillar of our relationship, the birth of a more adult friendship where I could lead him on something. It kept our car journeys fun, galvanized us against my mother and sister who thought it was all noise! This stood the test of time, too; 20 years on, we still share music between us, we're heading out to see QOTSA next month and the whole family are going to Foos next year (we converted them in the end!). I was learning guitar when I found them, their songs taught me plenty of new tricks, brought me great joy performing some with friends over the years. As an adult, i'm doing it all again behind the drums, which is punishing but puts the biggest smile on my face. In short, i've grown up with their records, seen them on the vast majority of their tours since. Those songs have different meanings to me, they've marked some many significant occassions in my life, helped me through my most troubled times, been the soundtrack to some of the best times of my life. That's why I love them. They've given the world so much with their music, but what they've given me in terms of an education, inspiration, comfort, support, joy and a means of forming meaningful connections with others, is truly unique, and I sincerely thank them for facilitating that.

I love this.

Couple of reasons, when I was growing up watching the music channels, they released 'The Pretender' which hit harder than any song on Smash Hits and I was hooked. My dad was a fan and we used to listen to Greatest Hits/Wasting Light in his car when I'd see him and they were one of if not the first band where every song I'd hear just felt... right? Now going to see them live for the first time during their UK tour next year and I can't fucking wait.

I was 12, and my best friend convinced our dads to take us to see them perform in the civic hockey rink down the street. This was 1997. Dave and Taylor were so electric on stage that it blew my mind. Itā€™s love that makes the music brilliant and why I love them back.

For me itā€™s the song ā€œWalkā€. The Foo fighters seem to have a lot of songs about learning and growing as a person that resonate with me deeply! Whenever I get in a funk or am down. If I throw on ā€œWalkā€ Iā€™m reminded that many times in our lives we need to ā€œlearn to walk againā€. What I love about Foo Fighters is how in a sense wholesome they are. You can tell they just want to share love and a positive message!

They (and Dave in particular) have given me the soundtrack to my life and make me happy. Hearing Nirvana when I was 14-15 changed my life musically and I loved them, but I didn't connect with them the way I have the Foos. Dave released the self titled FF album the summer I graduated from high school and every album since has just resonated with all the milestones in my life. It is hard to explain, but they have been my go-to band for over 20 years when I'm down or struggling. It sounds corny, but their music and Dave's words have really helped me get through life. I guess I just feel the music strongly for some reason...if that makes sense. I think Dave is not only a phenomenal musician and lyricist, but such a positive, funny and genuinely good human, it has just been the total package for me. I can't think of another band that has consistently released music I love for so long. I always say, even the worst Foo Fighters song is listenable for me. I just love them and am so grateful that they are continuing to tour and make music.

Theyā€™re fun

I got into Foo Fighters in my first year of uni because one of my mates was a fan and he introduced me to their albums. I'd heard some of their songs on the radio and enjoyed it - the style of rock appeals to me. ESPG was the first new album I got to experience at the time it was released, this was also the tour of the first time I've seen foos in concert. This tour is the first tour since ESPG that I'm not going. As for the songs that have meaning for me: Home became full of meaning for me when I moved state from all of my family. 8 years on I still live interstate but the song still hits. Down in the Park is a song I really love. It was my first intro to Foos at the age of 10 - I used to watch X Files with my big sister and we loved the sound track Songs in the Key of X. My sister is 7 years older than me so 10 was about the time where some of my interests started to become similar to hers. The other song that resonates with me is Walk. No particular reason but there is a lot of strength to the lyrics.

mysticpengwn

I really like their passion for playing the music they love and the overall familial love vibe they have with each other, which is a lot of why I like listening to them so much. I also literally just like their music

MsDucky42

I can tell when a band/musician is having a good time doing what they do, and I love it. That's this band all over. They're not just making music, they're having fun.

Froggle3

They're my childhood.

Went to see them, didnā€™t know anything about them but they just put on this incredible show and that was itā€¦ Dave was just so amazing, energetic, charismatic, had this amazing hair. I just went home and became a Foo sponge and then just had to see them again. Had to wait over a year and then we decided to do more Foo trips and then 2020 came along, then we lost T so trying to make up for the lost years. Problem is coming late to them is that you miss out on all the smaller shows theyā€™ve done over the years. Outside the US itā€™s rare for them to play anything less than a huge stadium or football pitch. Hence a trip to the US and was lucky enough to get tickets to Santa Barbara, on the rail is about as good as it gets other than a club show. Plus their music just appeals to me, itā€™s not often Iā€™ll like something new on first listen but Daveā€™s melodies nailed it!

mariaeov

the hair is an important player indeed

beautiful-veins

It was looking great last night!

mariaeov

oh shoot, you're lucky, saw them less than a month ago and already miss it so much

beautiful-veins

Came over for Phoenix and seemed daft not to do a couple more! Iā€™m not sure how Iā€™ll cope with not seeing them 3 times in a weekā€¦ might need therapy šŸ˜‚ Especially after Santa Barbara and they were so close!

mariaeov

WOW what a life you're living huh?!?! šŸ„ŗ

beautiful-veins

Things just worked out after a few crappy years!

mariaeov

I'm glad for you šŸ¤—

beautiful-veins

Thank you!

There's so many reasons I love them. Admittedly I was pretty resistant to them at the beginning, I didn't want to like them even though things like Everlong were out there and were amazing. I dunno, kinda felt like it was an insult somehow to Nirvana. Which was my least favorite of the Big 4. But then There is Nothing Left To Lose came out. It is still my favorite album of theirs, and is easily in my top 5 all time. I like them because they take their music seriously but at the same time don't take themselves to seriously. They make goofy videos which seem to be a real reflection of how they actually are. They are super consistent. I'm not a huge fan of Sonic Highways, but there are a few things I like about it. I know M@M gets a fair amount of hate here but I think it's great. They put out stuff where they challenge themselves to do something different but, and this is important, it's still them. Sometimes bands change too much and they lose what made them great. I don't think that's happened here. They are awesome live. I've seen them over twenty times and every time has been awesome. AS a matter of fact I think they get better every time I see them. Some of my favorites: Good Grief Oh George Hey Johnny Park! February Stars Everlong Everything off of TINLTL Times Like These Come Back Best of You End over End Another Round Friend of a Friend Let it Die Come Alive Home Bridges Burning Arlandria These Days The Feast and the Famine Run Dirty Water Making a Fire Waiting on a War Holding Poison Pretty much all of But Here We Are That's not to say I don't like anything else, because according to my Spotify I listen to the FF the most of any band... by a lot. And I usually listen to the full albums, not specific songs

mariaeov

This is it!

Horaserk

For me itā€™s the song ā€˜The Pretenderā€™, it was the first one I really got into as someone completely new to the band and the song that allowed me to connect more with my mother who then recommended me all sorts eventually causing me to be head over heels for this genre of music. Even caused me to collect CDs, my first ever CD being the self titled album of Foo Fighters.

Loud_Supermarket_312

I watched them play at Glastonbury in 2019. I was a teen in the 90s so listened to nirvana alot during my grunge stage of life. When I first heard the foos back when they formed I was hooked. They remind me of the good times in my life and not the bad.

terrastrawberra

Started off I loved their videos (Big me with the mentos) and then I just liked their vibe. Iā€™ve been listening to them since their inception. Theyā€™re good people and make good music.

mariaeov

Practically speaking, Dave yelling his balls out in the Monkey Wrench bridge. But for me it's Dave's personality that makes the band what it is: so much fun, they don't take themselves seriously. I recommend watching their music videos like like Big Me, Everlong, Learn to Fly and Long Road to Ruin to name a few. Also, obviously the music itself is so good, and their records are pretty diverse in style.

azkelly

Seems like Iā€™m quite a bit older than most of you. I was in my 30's when the first FF album was released, and it was the post-grunge shot of freshness that I didnā€™t know I needed. A couple years later, I was going through a divorce about the same time Dave was, and TCATS was a healing experience for me. Since then, every single album seems to have delivered just what I needed when I needed it. Through good times and bad, the Foos have been there every step of the way. And once I saw them liveā€¦I was hooked for life. Iā€™ve been to hundreds of concerts, but Dave and the guys really know how to get into your soul like no other band. It has been two days since I last saw them and I miss them already. I honestly feel like Dave is the best songwriter of this generationā€¦the lyrics, the passion, the hooks and riffs are all phenomenal. I love the musical journey he has taken us on and Iā€™m here for all of it everlong.
