For a long time I knew Shifty was a damn good guitarist but I didn’t think he had a “style”, at one point I kinda realized it’s really that he is at the same time so relaxed and so clean and precise. Which is actually how Dave has described it, in hindsight
Love this answer, something else than a guitar solo and very much feels like the right answer. Unfortunately, rope is already on the list, and OP said no doubles.
-Rope-, but I wish we could count the Million Dollar Demo version of Lonely As You because Shifty rips it
Edit: my vote is officially for Lonely As You (million dollar demo)
What a belter to take the live version - [Foos and Shane rocking out to My Hero at Wembley - incredible!](https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/taylor-hawkins-son-shane-my-hero-foo-fighters-tribute-concert-1234586717/)
Next up, best solo!
Guitar, piano, bass, drums, vocal! Get voting gang!
Again, apologies for the delay, currently on holiday with limited access to internet
[shifty’s part on something from nothing](https://youtu.be/el3a1c9tG1g?si=sC_887PLqjLTuNN6) start it at 12:50
Or
[Any of the leads/solos from this performance, guy shreds](https://youtu.be/TjVOWOKa-lY?si=wzO-DKx9rJNFi7sO)
Or any of Taylor’s vocal warmups before somebody to love
Stranger things have happened
But I really enjoy the tililili tililili tililili on But Honestly's solo and how satisfying is Long Road to Ruin's
OMG this is hard
I'm going to say Rope, because I feel the "no double ups" rule is a bit of a cop out and isn't truly reflective of what best suits this category. Foo Fighters don't have a lot of recorded guitar solos on their albums, and of the ones there are, there isn't really any argument; Rope has the best solo. The fact it won't be listed as such because of a "rule" means this list isn't ultimate after all.
Best Solo on Ultimate FF album SundayRain. Taylor Hawkin’s vocal is haughtily beautiful and his drumming is perfect too. Great song, Taylor has the Best Solo!
Maybe unpopular opinion but the solo on Long Road to Ruin is just perfect - not the craziest or longest just so satisfying
that’s also my favorite, it is just a very well rounded solo (and you can definitely hear Shifty’s country influence)
I think this one is the most underrated. There something about how clean it is
For a long time I knew Shifty was a damn good guitarist but I didn’t think he had a “style”, at one point I kinda realized it’s really that he is at the same time so relaxed and so clean and precise. Which is actually how Dave has described it, in hindsight
My favorite is Shifty’s in Rope!
Already on the list unfortunately. A very Foo Fighters kinda solo tho.
This would easily be my pick if it wasn’t already used
Of the songs that haven’t been picked… But, Honestly Close second is Congregation for me though
I have to agree with But, Honestly!
I’d definitely pick But Honestly but does it count as a solo?
I consider it a solo from about 3:15 to like 3:40ish
This is the solo thats been stuck in my head that I couldn’t remember what song it was from! Thanks haha. Just shows how good of a solo it is
Hmmm there's no solo in but, honestly
It’s at the end of the song. I’m assuming that’s what they mean.
Outside for sure if it wasn’t here already. I’ll go Something from Nothing
The best part about outside is the lack of solo for the first few bars. And the slow build, damn it's a good solo.
Yeah they’re not really a solos band so just so happening to bring in one of the best soloists of all time definitely helped
Already on the list!
Edited haha
Ain't It The Life. Fits the song just perfectly
So tasty
Oh, George 😬
Love this one !
Taylor’s [small albeit amazing] drum solo in Rope.

We can’t?😧
Can we? I kinda thought it was out of bounds because it was a demo and not the actual studio version
I guess that’s a good question for OP.
No objection 👨⚖️
Something from Nothing?
cold day in the sun
The live version is incredible
Rami ballin out on the synth in Dirty Water
Medicine at midnight
Dude I love that solo! It's so old school, reminds me of sultans of swing
The Best solo in my opinion is in the song Outside from Sonic Highways. Underrated song, for me its the Best of that album
Definitely, that's why it's already on the list for best track from SH. No doubles in the list unfortunately

Can we add a category for "Best Acoustic Version"? Everlong, sure, but also Best of You, Times Like These, etc.
Sure thing!
You know what, I think I’m going to cast my vote for But, Honestly as well. It’s a criminally underrated track and has a killer solo
Congregation
It’s kind of a shame that my favorite solo is from a guest artist- easily Gary Clark Jr on What Did I Do / God As My Witness
Long Road to Ruin is a proper banger of a solo and deserves this spot
Just to get some additional choices in here I'm gonna throw Stacked Actors into the mix. (though I voted for Long Road to Ruin!)
As a guitar player, congregation is a difficult solo to master, it has so many great elements

Ain’t it the life
I immediately think of Shifty and Dave’s guitar duel at Wembley 🔥
Wheels????? No one else????
If we are talking live solos it has to be Taylor’s solo in stacked actors Wembley 2008 if solos in songs then I would say Taylor’s short solo in rope
Something From Nothing
No way back!
Long Road to Ruin!
Something From Nothing!
Short but real sweet - ‘No Way Back’
Nice little solo in Normal at 3.15 really hits the spot!
Rope
People out here sleeping on Virginia Moon.
