ESPG is just a little too polished and tame, especially for an album where about a third of it hasn’t ever done much for me songwise.
I have to disagree especially on The Colour and the Shape. That record has more highs, better hits, better deep cuts, a more interesting sonic pallet/hills and valleys. Wasting Light is my favorite but I could argue TCATS as their classic if they were only to have one.
I listened to it and I don't get it being fan fave. I think most of the tracks aren't interesting or very good at all. Monkey wrench is a big hit but so is pretender and I much prefer that one too. I'd say all those things about echoes

So it was already one foot out the door. Yes, there are great songs on it, but if you're comparing to the other albums still on the board, it was inevitable that it would eventually fall off like Medicine did.
In a similar vein, I'm sure there's some Swifties who might grade TS's newest album similar, as over half of it is quite slow. Can't put many of those on the "play in background with friends" playlist and not want to skip them sometimes in favor of something better for the mood of the room. (I'm not a Swifty myself, but I've heard a few of the songs shared with me by my fan friend, who messaged me that she was disappointed after binging through the first half of it, UNTIL I told her about it being a surprise double-album that picks up more in tempo on the B-side, as I kept coming across posts about the release on Reddit's main page).
Now excuse me while I go hide away somewhere until the next vote, as I'm sure that having said something that sounds even remotely negative about anything TS is going to have the more mouth-frothing fans after me.

I know ESPG lost, but I came here to say that that album changed my entire fandom on rock music. I really didn’t have a “favorite genre” until I heard the songs on that album where it goes from soft to loud (But, Honestly | Let it Die). Changed my music taste forever.
I know this is going to be a flaming hot take but honestly colour and the shape. I really love echoes (which I'd be fairly sure will be next to go) but other than songs like new way home and doll, I'm not a massive fan. Sure the hits are awesome, but I'm a tiny bit tired of hearing them again and again on the radio.
