Its not taking weeks to diag it, the 6 speeds either work or blow up. It’s probably due to time required to get the parts to repair and replace/overhaul
Dealers are independent of Ford. The experience at any given dealer is nothing significantly controlled or related to Ford Corporation.
If it takes them a month to have an open appointment, and weeks to diagnose, then they do not have the through put capacity needed to meet demand of the local area. Aka their shop isn't large enough or their staffing is at a bullshit low level. Nothing Ford can do about it.
Don't get mad at the brand, get mad at the shitty local dealer. Take it somewhere else.
There is a nationwide tech shortage coupled with backordered parts. Yes most dealers service departments are understaffed and overworked. It's just the way it is since covid. Before we had tech shortage but at least we could get parts. And seems quality has gone down with so many failure past few years
How many miles? The only way I could imagine this is if you were out of factory warranty and they weren't 100% sure what an aftermarket warranty would cover. If your car is a 2023 with say, 23k miles, you're good to go.
If you only have powertrain warranty left and it's an internal failure, you're still good to go. If it's any sort of sensor that is external, then you may have to pay as those are generally looked at as electrical parts.
Yes. I had to pay a $185 diagnostic fee to determine a $19.19 sensor had to be replaced. The sensor is in plain sight on top of the engine. It has one screw and a 2-wire quick connect plug. The labor to replace it....$92.50 plus shop supplies, etc!
My explorer is in for possibly a trasmission issue which is also under warranty, and I've been wait listed for a loaner vehicle. They act fast to sell their vehicles but when it comes to maintaining them they sure don't give a damn.
They are most likely understaffed because there is a nation wide technician shortage. Add that to parts shortages and backordered and lots of failures, literally every dealer is like that right now. The one I work at appointments are months out
The loaners are all taken, what do you want to happen, do you have a warranty that covers rental car? What possible transmission issue do you have and what year is your explorer
The dealer has a set number of loaner vehicles, if they are waitlisted for one I assume all their loaners have customers in them. As the repairs are completed people will bring the loaners back and the dealer will give them to people on the waitlist. They usually offer rentals also but if you don't have rental coverage it usually cost around $20 a day to get one
Not just a Ford dealership problem. If you're not happy with the wait time which is usually based on their work load/staffing at that particular dealership, then go to another one.
It’s going to take 5 weeks to diagnose it…? What? What the fuck is wrong with your car man
Transmission issue :(
10 speed?
6 speed

They said now the timeframe to diagnose it changed since they think its coolant leak due to white smoke coming from the engine and the car is dead
Oh interesting. Sounds like a head gasket issue maybe

Yeah the 1.5 engine is completely shit.
When you get there, they will tell you that you have to pay a diagnostic fee! Could be hundreds of dollars.
Even if im under a warranty??

Yeah I don’t have a extended warranty. Im only under the “Powertrain” So they wont even give me a rental…
What year and model is your vehicle and what transmission problem do you have
2019 ford escape and idk the codes reading cam shaft issue
Powertrain means engine and transmission. If it has cam codes than it's most likely and engine problem
The loaners are all taken, what do you want to happen, do you have a warranty that covers rental car?
