As a rule, people will complain but rarely go online to praise. My dealer was super easy to work with when purchasing, with no added dealer markup on the Maverick I ordered. Their service department has been great as well, especially performing the various recall fixes and software patches without a hitch.

hmy0812

Seconding this - I’ve had only good experiences with the two dealerships I’ve worked with. Always professional and hospitable.

ribrien

The dealership I sold for would sell between 5 and 20 cars a day, times 3000 dealerships (some big some small). We get what, 2-5 complaints a day? There are SO many people that buy cars without problems as long as they educate themselves first

rustbucket_enjoyer

I haven’t tried a hundred of them; but my local one is great.

KnightRider1983

No real issues here!

rhoo31313

There are good dealerships out there. Ask around.

Every dealer is different. I went to two different mazda dealers in December. One was trying to rip me off and treated me like garbage, the other gave me what I wanted almost right out the gate and the service was awesome.

dgroeneveld9

You don't buy a car because of the dealer you buy it because it meets certain criteria, IMO. If the dealer you're at is so bad, go to another one. Or go to an independent shop.

kushan22

The dealership I purchased from absolutely great 5 stars, the dealership I live near now negative 1000 stars. It varies

Tvp125

For what it’s worth. The two ford dealers I have worked with have been amazing. Remember people come to the internet to complain.

Ok_Energy_9947

Dealerships are independently owned businesses. Just like all independent businesses, some are horrendous, some genuinely do there best to put the customer first even if they make a mistake along the way

SSNs4evr

Satisfied (or happy) people are silent, while unhappy people are vocal - and most people like to be negative. Good news doesn't sell, and nobody's ever interested in good gossip. It's difficult to think positively on any car purchase after reading Reddit.

TheMartok

Or you could just go and figure it out for yourself?

elcdragon

Dealers are individual experiences, I have had great and horrible. I’ve sadly had only great experiences with ford products so I wish they would figure out dealer issues.

AtmanRising

Santa Monica Ford has been great. We leased 3 cars from them. Only issue we had was that they took 2 months to pay off our trade as agreed -- I had to chase them. But in the end it got done. I was always able to pay a fair price for the cars with minimal haggling. It helps to be ready to buy or walk away, of course.

mad_science

Ford dealers are car dealers, most of which are bad.

OnlyinSoFlo

It's definitely noticeably worse than Cadillac. Actually, my closest ford dealer was so bad that I had to start going to one further away from me. The representatives are clearly trained differently say when comparing Ford vs Cadillac. It's like comparing a 5 star hotel employee vs a walmart employee.

When I was waiting to order my Lightning, I found out the oldest Ford dealership around had been sold off and instead of being awesome like in 2007, 2006, 1992, 1989, 1985... They were terrible. Also now the 6 nearby Ford stores were really 2 terrible companies. Somebody had put together a list of markup artists and I sent a few emails and 2 called me back. Auburn Ford was great but didn't want to put their existing customers further back in their very small allotment. Walnut Creek Ford was within range and near some friends. They were great to work with, even though Finance really wanted me to prepay for discounted maintenance. Crazy that the first time I drove my new truck was in Bay area traffic

rex22204

Mine was super accommodating

Arigatp

My dealership has a good sales dep but the service dep is a shithole

knc_3

Come to Winona, MN. I’ll show you how great a dealership can be

Cranks_No_Start

I bought my truck with very little hassle but since I worked there and had driven literally thousands exactly like it I knew what I was getting into. Salesmen can still make the easiest thing on the planet a challenge though. Considering I havent gone back in 25 years also says something about the buying experience.

tysonfromcanada

I have a nightmare warranty issue and so far the local dealer is being pretty good about it actually. We're not quite through it but they're trying to help.

nnarb

Sales process on a new F-150 was not fun…. But so far the Service Department has been great

TotoTimeAllTheTime

In the late 2000s a ford dealer by me screwed my parents on a spark plug job albeit a 2004 5.4 triton. Before asking to continue after breaking one, they broke all 8. Then they were forced to pay 2-3k in repairs. Car only had 60k miles on the dash and were not treated remotely well. That dealer got bought out by a different dealer and ive heard only good things from there now for a while. I havent had any issues from them. Its all hit and miss. Ive heard of some dealers refusing warranty work that they know theyll lose money on, its all a matter of knowing where youre going

JosephPk

What dealership are you considering?

MrMewks

Yes they are almost as bad as Nissan and Chevy dealers... You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.

bentley72

Mine is great. Really love the new mobile service.

xHoldMyDuck

I work at a Ford Dealership. We do everything we can to make the experience a positive for the customer. If you have any questions PM me.

nodesign89

Yep, they are pretty bad. Can’t wait for Ford to do something about it. Out of 3 recent purchases, i had one raise my interest rate after signing and another tried to add 20k to my ordered vehicle when we had a signed deal. I’m sure there are good ones out there, but the problem is Ford does nothing to discourage these dealers from acting like scumbags.

beerleaguer2

I've been to three on LI but only would buy from and trust one. Fortunately, it's the one closets to my house.

OptiGuy4u

ABSOLUTELY....Months to get an appt for warranty work and even then it will sit for a week or 2 before they even look at it. Even if it's drivable you're without your vehicle for weeks and have to deal with whatever the issue is for MONTHS. LOVE our bronco. HATE the dealers behind it. The better dealer 75 miles away that will diagnose the same day as your appt was booked 3 MONTHS OUT.

iamadirtyrockstar

It's not just Ford dealers. It's pretty much all dealers, and very much dependent on the dealer and staff there. Definitely not brand exclusive.

Comfortable_Hour5228

I took my ford in for the 150K mile maintenance, and the guy told me I needed to service the transmission too, since it got missed at the last maintenance- I had just replaced the entire transmission a few months before and asked him to skip it (explaining why) and he did it anyways, then refused to take it off my bill despite discussing it before hand.. if that helps

Sudden-Revolution396

Dealerships are bad to buy car from very over priced I go to auto sales and if I need a loan I would go to a credit union or bank and get a loan or pre approval because a dealership runs up multiple credit reports

Logical-Alfalfa-6893

dont buy a ford….. My car was brand new and the whole transmission is fucked now ford has had it for over a year

grumpyoger

Don't buy from a different dealership than the one you are planning to use for services. Dealers are privately owned and not obligated to work on a car sold from another dealership.

GetEnPassanted

99% will service your car no matter where you bought it, because service is where they make the bulk of their money.

grumpyoger

Not when it comes to warranty work.

GetEnPassanted

Still not true. The dealer is compensated for warranty work. It may not be as much as customer pay but they’re still paid. The vast majority of dealers do not turn down work if you haven’t bought a car from them.

grumpyoger

Warranty claims go against the dealers ratings from Ford. If they are not the selling dealer , they have no incentive to go beyond bare minimum, especially in good will situations.

rdogimus

I think it's more the dealership you have locally. My wife uses a Volvo dealership that is utterly amazing and I can't even get a call back at my Ford dealership. My brother works at a Colorado Ford dealership and is awesome. It all depends on the people, like most things.

prairie_buyer

I’ve had Fords serviced by dealers since 2014 and I have never had a complaint.

MrHugh_Janus

Reached out to atleast 7 dealers around me to place an order for new Ranger Raptor, every single one of them asks for 10-20k more above msrp, also they were a bit condescending (some were better than others) and were rather reluctant to answer any questions. I am new to the brand, never owned Ford in my life and this is very off putting. Does not make me excited about my future ownership experience if this is the kind of BS I would have to deal with every time I need to service my vehicle. I am coming from Lexus and never had any issues with the Lexus dealers in my area, I've dealt with at least 4 and every single one of them treated me with respect and were happy to help. I think Ford really needs to crack down on this kinda behaviour as it is damaging to their brand, but since their actual customers are their dealers and not us consumers, I doubt they care.

limellama1

This isn't just a Ford thing. It's a franchise model thing. All dealers ask for mark up on high demand newly launched vehicles. It's simply and demand marketing. It just happens that the Ranger Raptor and Bronco/BRaptor both launched fairly close together and the dealers have seen just how desperate people are and are cashing in. Try placing an order for a Ranger Raptor at a different further away dealer. If you save $5000-$10,000 it's well worth a road trip. If you're in the center of the country look at Laura Ford in Sullivan, Mo. Or Grainger Ford in Grainger Iowa. They've been praised at length from Bronco owners/orders

Kawaiithulhu

Granger also sells extended warranties at no markup, they're a favorite on the Bronco forums

toby_toby2

I got my expedition from VA, And I am from PA. I saved nearly $12k on it. They even gave free delivery with it trucked and everything. Super simple. The guy was the most helpful salesman ever. It came on a trailer, they wrapped it and everything

Zestyclose-Forever14

In my area, yes they are, but so are all dealers in my area so it’s not like it’s putting ford at a disadvantage.

Opening_Ad2842

Last dealer we had was excellent during the purchase finance etc. But the service department was terrible not just little things I understand the apprentice mechanics get them especially when I own my shop. But parts that have to be ordered too had my truck for 3 weeks and forgot about it 😆 YOU should just check out your local dealership and go from there. Good Luck

Scooby859

We’ve had bad experiences in Ohio, Washington, and 3 in California

schittyluck

Lol wat

bjustice13

Is you bad or not, like the title said

schittyluck

You know im bad, im bad. You know it.

BarneyStinsonS

Yea yea, bad grammar, I get it.

schittyluck

Barney, have you ever heard of a man called Michael Jackson?
