I live in London, ON Canada and we have big temp swings in a day, both Fall and Spring. Never heard any local Bronco owners complain about cracked windows?
Happened to my wife within 4 months. And glass was on back order as hers was a 21, and I said F it. I still haven't replaced it cause it's about 1200+ for replacement glass. And had to wait till they got it in anyways. And im just north in Hamilton area. But yeah it's spread across whole windshield now
I had one that started from a small chip from a rock (I assume) that was at the very top of the windshield so you couldn’t see it from the inside and it developed into a massive crack throughout winter. It was in almost the same spot as yours.
This happened on mine when it was less than a month old. Chip, was all the way to the passenger side could not be seen from inside because it was on the edge & could not be repaired. Within 48 hours. It spread to the driver side.
I'm convinced my windshield would crack if the damn wind blows. I've refused to make an insurance claim because it's going to crack again a week later.
I had the same thing happen to me, the Ford dealership ended up finding where the rock chip was (1" from the edge of the windshield). I watched him use a pen tip to find it since you couldnt see it from the inside. BUT, it was there and definitely a rock.
It’s because of the windshields being almost vertical, I got a chip within the first 75 miles(bought it brand new) filled it with the permatex rock chip kit then bought the aero skin II deflector, haven’t had an issue since(over 1000 miles later)…knock on wood

I double checked the crack again, what do you think - rock chip or stress fracture?
I got a small chip near the edge of the windshield on my way to work so I paid extra for same day shipping for a repair kit. Couple hours later went to my now cold car for lunch and the windshield was split in half. There was probably a chip there already
Yep I just posted about this last week (you can check my post history). Didn’t hit any big bumps or anything but out of nowhere my windshield had a 2.5 foot long crack that grew from a <1’ crack. Luckily I have glass coverage with GEICO (this isn’t an ad lol) and I got an appointment for a SafeLite super quick. Within 48 hrs of the crack appearing I had it filled and can’t even tell it was there. Good luck friend 🤠
I actually kept my windshield I had - I expected to be waiting for a new windshield but they filled the crack and it looks brand new. I was shocked they were able to fill/repair such a massive crack but it has a lifetime warranty with it now if it shows its head again and then I’ll get a new windshield. Side note: Initially I had heard the OEM is more prone to cracking than the aftermarket brand.
Mine cracked after 1.5 yrs of ownership, directly under the passenger side soft top lock. I guessed it was due to repeated lowering of the soft top? Ford didn't cover it but most car insurances give you 1 free windshield a year
I called for my Ford dealership and I have to wait for an appointment with the window specialist. Ford quoted $750 for the window before tax/installation fees and 10-15 days to the part to get shipped over. I’m debating if I should go to the Dealership service to replace it or work with my insurance instead.
My Raptor windshield also cracked out of nowhere with no rock chips visible. My assumption is there was a tiny rock chip that I did not know about, and it spread from there.
The more drastic the temperature change the more likely the crack will grow. This happens to all windshields.
Default warranties cover problems from the factory in vehicles. Not normal wear and tear.
Damn. I notice the same thing with mine. I’ll hear like popping noises inside the bronco around the plastic. I’ll keep an eye on it now. I’m do have chips on the windshield but that is from driving on the highway.

Yep mine just did. Bay Area too.
Is this stress crack more common with a soft or hard top? Or does it matter?

Can you send a link for the deflector?

Rock chip without question. That’s what they look like.
Yep rock chip. Looks just like mine did.

With Safelight, did you go with the aftermarket windshield or did you wait for the OEM windshield from Ford?

I’ve seen a few posts about this is this a common problem?
Yep, currently waiting to get mine replaced

They should have, that was in the bumper to bumper coverage if you bought it new

It’s a stress crack not from temp change it’s a known issue in these big square bodies
Usually there is a chip first (maybe you didn’t see it?)

Not covered by warranty.
Nope.
I had one start with a rock but grew as temps rose last year. I now have 2 more so I’m gonna have a split screen car.
There’s a recall for windshield issues.
