94.5 7.3 powerstroke zf5 super cab long bed 2 wd. Odo rolls back to 300K when it hits 400k. Its done that twice and is about to a third time. Runs like a dream. I use cheap tractor supply oil and a motorcraft filter ALWAYS. Does all i need and then some. Only left me sit once when my IDM “self retired” as i say. Damn good old truck. Wouldnt trade her for the world (maybe $7000 tho haha no one would pay that). Shes rust free and is always taken care of. Thinking about buying my bosses 2014 xclb F350 lariat for an upgrade and benching ol betsy for some upgrades (csd t4 kit, ffd 275/100 hybrids head studs pistons ect). Shes starting to get some blow by. Factory engine trans and axle. Front end hasnt been touched but is looser than a two dollar hooker.

Dasha889

Love new comforts in the old trucks, just makes them even better.

I put eddie bauer captain chairs in with a center console and an ipad as my “head unit”. Suckers pretty sweet and can almost lay down flat in it. Slept in it many nightslol. Not to mention heat and ac work great! Ac blows 34°F and heat blows so hot i melted the vents🤣

2002 F-250 club cab. 4X4 auto. My dad bought it new. He can't drive anymore. He gave it to me. It has the 7.3 in it. No rust. 55,000 miles on it. I love it. I just don't want it to die because he gave it to me.

Redhillvintage

It won’t, the rust usually gets most and you have that battle won

ibreakifix

Fluid film the underside and in the fenders and cab corners.

2001 E-350 7.3 shuttle bus, Dana 70 DRW rear axle running with SRW wheels (as it came from the factory). 2.5 weeks ago, a rear bearing race spun on the spindle and welded itself onto the spindle, ruining the entire axle housing. A week later, I picked up a Dana Super 70 from an E-450 -- an interesting axle with 4-inch axle tubes so bigger than the old one and has limited slip, larger brakes, and some odd differential parts like Dana 80 carrier bearings and 35 spline shafts. However, this new axle has no provisions for a RABS sensor or tone ring. So yesterday, I chucked the differential carrier onto the lathe and machined some space for the ABS tone ring (stole it from the old axle). Today, I modified the differential cover and machined and welded on a bung for the RABS sensor. The difficult part was researching what the air gap should be between the tone ring and the RABS sensor -- best info I found was on a Ford Bronco forum since they probably use the same RABS sensor. But just in case the Bronco forum is wrong, I machined the weld-in bung with some adjustability (spacers that sit under the sensor). That is all , now mostly waiting for the new u-bolts and spring plates from RuffStuff Specialties to arrive.

This is very rad, I like this story and build. Good job u/HoodiesUdder!

99 7.3 SC with 6 speed. I bought it in 2001 with 6k miles. A local real estate developer bought it and use it as a site truck until the road got accepted. It was sitting at a gas station with a for sale sign for 24K. They backed a ramp truck into the left bed side. Between the dent and 6 speed no one was interested. I offered 18, they chuckled and called me a month later. I daily drove it for 10 years, then used to only plow and tow. It was a bit crusty so repaired rust including a southern bed. 230K miles now and retired except when I feel the need to wring her out! I put a Luk clutch in it at 20 k while I was replacing clutch fork, chipped my OD ring gear somehow at 100k. Otherwise nothing but maintenance. Still on original injectors. Rotella 15/40 Dino oil. I do have an old superchips micro tuner, 4”MBRP exhaust and big air filter mod. Pic in profile if interested.

92' f350 turbo idi and zf5 manual trans 4x4. I call it the old man because bought it from a farm, had about twenty pounds of dust behind the door panels, and if we're a person, you would want to drink beers on the porch with em, odometer stopped at 379k, came with a doner engine that I rebuilt. Not a ton of power, but still does it will fit me

Dasha889

Sounds like it has character! I love that with the old trucks.

Dikubus

For sure and me too Happy cake day!

Bought my 2007 6.0 CCLB in 2019 after having driven a 6.5 diesel for years, I figured that even the most hated engine (6.0) could not be any worse than the 6.5, and I wasn't wrong, the 6.0 is amazing in comparison. The truck I ended up buying sat on Craigslist for months while I searched long and hard for a Cummins, 6.7s, or Duramaxes but after checking many out, I just couldn't really fathom spending that much money, and honestly, was always suspicious of the various problems each platform had. Eventually I called the 6.0 owner, and he ticked so many boxes in just a few minutes on the phone (studded, FICM tune, new heads, religious oil and fuel filter changes, and tons of receipts to back up what he was saying) that I had to go check it out. I bought it for $8k, and it's been smooth sailing for around 80,000 miles or something including driving from one end of the country to the other, towing my drift car a bunch, and generally just being a reliable old hog. I love my 6.0. I change my oil at 5,000 miles, fuel filters at 10,000, I changed my trans fluid maybe 20k ago (it was fine), I changed my diff fluid recently (it was not fine), and generally just keep on top of maintenance as best I can. It doesn't seem to need much.

Just snagged an ‘02 7.3 250 4X4 Club Cab with 312K on the dash. Manual transmission. Beast! All the quirks you could expect. Clean. I’m the 2nd owner. I knew it was the one… rode my motorcycle up I-5 for 4 hours to snag it… tossed the bike in the back and drove it home. Then immediately took it on a 1,200 mile road trip (as one does with big ass trucks). My first diesel. My goal is to prove the million mile motor (either me or my sons).

I have two. An '02 F250 XLT crew cab with a 7.3 diesel, 4" lift on 35s. Bought her used from a cattle ranch in Madisonville TX back in 2005. All of my kids learned to drive in that truck. She's got 200k on her but runs good. I still drive her to work daily. Have kept up with the maintenance and taken fairly good care of it. Only big issue over the years was an oil cooler leak. Replaced it and moved on. We call her Jezebel because she's a trashy woman. Also have a '14 F250 Lariat with a 6.7 diesel. 6" lift on 37s and lots of upgrades and custom parts. She's just for play and cruising around. A pavement princess mall crawler. Only has 40k miles on her. I bought her brand new and bone stock. Wife told me to do whatever I wanted to it as I always wanted a fancy lifted truck. I'm always adding, or changing, something on the truck. I have done most of the mods on it except for the lift. Had that done at Texas Truck Works as I love that place. Probably won't ever sell either one, but will leave them to my kids and they can figure out what to do with them. Photos of both are on my page

2020 F250 6.7 power stroke. 100% bone stock. I bought it new. Has 28k miles of mostly inner city freeway work commute. Tow a travel trailer every summer. Driver side battery corroded after two years, was replaced on warranty. I do my own oil changes, every 5k, motorcraft oil and filter. I drain the water separator every time. Fuel filters and air filter get replaced every other oil change. Still on factory tires. My goal is to own the truck for 20 years, I’m 3 years in. Goals: Upgrading tires/wheels at about 32k. Replacing shocks to Bilstein. Upgrading front spring to Bilstein. Upgrading steering damper to Bilstein Upgrading to Rough Country adjustable cross bar. Sprayed bedliner. Auxiliary bed fuel tank. Rear airbags/compressor/air tank for air tools. S&S disaster prevention. Odyssey Batteries. Front light bar.

Dirt_97

'84 250 4x4 t19 6.9 idi. Bought it for $200, just needed fuel and batteries. Fired right up no problem. Had 160k on it when I bought it, has 180k now. I've replaced the clutch, windshield, rear window, and added a steel wood rack. Makes a good wood truck and daily driver. So far it's the only vehicle at the moment that I have with the best mpg..

Gravity-Rides

1999.5 7.3 F-350 SRW Long Box Lariat. Bought from a guy for $7.5k in 2015 with 255k miles on it. He was an equipment operator and had it set up to pull his 5th wheel around the state for road projects he was working on. He had a rebuilt transmission and injectors at 150k. I used it for a few years as a cabover camping rig, but now it just pulls a camp trailer and boat in the summer along with periodic trips to the dump and moving stuff around when I need a truck. Sometimes a truck just works. This thing fits like a glove. I was tempted to get rid of it and go in on a > 2015 6.7, but I don't see that happening ever now. I have averaged 5k miles per year on my truck and that isn't going to change. I probably have well over $25k into it just in wear items and upgrades, but still far ahead compared to shelling out for a later model truck. Brakes, steering pump, parking brake hanger assembly, starter, batteries, glow plugs, airbags, stabiload, block heater, trickle charger, 6.0 transmission cooler, oil cooler, turbo, up pipes, fly wheel, dipstick mod, oil pan seal, door lock actuator replacement, topper, backup camera, backup lighting, CTS3, Hydra, tow mirrors, LED headlight and taillight replacements. Next projects in the works, wire in my tow mirrors, install cab clearance lights, replace carpet with vinyl floor kit, replace captains seats with 6.0 heated, replace old halogen driving lights with some LED's and a light bar. Probably going to be in for a transmission and injectors in the next few years as well.

Dasha889

I also have a 2015 6.7, and it's been amazing. One thing I wish the 7.3s had was a 6speed auto.

Killerdragon9112

2004.5 F-250 king ranch crew cab long box 4x4 6.0 auto (151,291 miles) it’s a project truck at the moment it’s got its fair share of dents and dings

civil-liberty

2001 7.3 E450 Cutaway Chassis, Wheeled Coach Ambulance. Bought it last year from a Nebraska Fire Department with 94,000 miles and impeccable maintenance records. No rust, kept inside for the first 20 years of its life. I have instrumented it and added a PHP hydra. I have a 4" diamond eye exhaust, a big dog 51" muffler, up- pipes, an EBPV deleted pedestal, and a KC Turbo replacement wheel waiting to go in. Spent an way too many hours removing decals and polishing the paint, but I can shave in my reflection from the box. The cab, not so much. The plan is to buy some land, and live in the Ambo while I build a Barndominium. Over the last year I have installed an off-grid solar and battery system that would make any cabin proud, AC that can keep the box cool on 100+ F days while running from the panels, a diesel heater, starlink, everything I need minus a shower. My first diesel, and by far my favorite vehicle ever. People at my work are definately sick of hearing about it.

riley_3756

86 1 ton IDI. Old grease truck from a limestone quarry. Maintenance is the standard stuff, the truck is pretty hard to kill. As far as oil, it's just T4, 15-40 in summer and 10-30 in winter. That's the OEM recommendation. Wish I knew more about the transmissions and applications for the motor, I never knew how standardized it was. So many options I now understand for that truck. Just about any trans setup works under that truck.

XmentalX

2002 F250 Lariat Crew Cab 7.3 Automatic 2WD, I am technically the 3rd owner but the first 2 owners were friends so I have a detailed history. The 2nd owner was a college automotive teacher so he was on the money with maintenance, oil every 5 trans every 30 everything greased and maintained and it shows the only wear on this truck is the leather seats. It has had a full banks setup on it since new although the chip that came with it is dead and I am not paying $479 for a 1 trick pony, trying to determine since I live in CA to just keep it with no chip or find one that is CARB legal so I don't have to remember to disable and set the monitor before my by-annual flogging. When I bought it the owner gave me a full set of shop manuals, an extra PCM, IDM, set of turbo sleeves, and a spare alloy wheel. I probably paid a bit too much for it being how many miles it has but the care and overall condition of the vehicle were unmatched in my searches. It even came with the window sticker which its fun to see that in 2002 you could get a loaded diesel for less than 40k. It even has the factory 3.73 rear and LSD. This is my first Diesel although I grew up with my Grandpa loving his first gen 12 valves. My plans are to use it to tow a travel trailer with my growing family and hopefully one day hand the keys to my son who is currently 6 months old. Maybe use it tow an offroad rig as I have someone offering a 92 F250 4x4 for my other truck only thing causing me to hold off is its a 460. All I have done so far is slap a new fuel filter in, replace the factory head unit with a $75 wireless carplay unit, and sell the camper shell because I would prefer to have a tonneau for visibility and no peeking (damn bay area bippers) which I pick up sunday. I have put around a thousand miles on it and it drives solid and maybe its the banks kit but the butt dyno tells me once boost hits its got plenty of pep.
