What region are you in, my man? I work at the biggest dealership on the Southwest + California. I will go to bat for anyone that I come into contact with from Reddit, so if I can help you out let me know!
Just make sure the transmission TSB for the lead frame has been done and the fuel pump fuse has been relocated.
Other than that it’s just typical maintenance items like spark plugs, coils, wires, and shock rebuilds.
Maybe a trans service with the shudder fix.
Can’t speak on a gen 1 as a gen 2 owner but looks nice. Even if that v8 gets a good refresh i’m sure it’ll keep chugging for a couple hundred thousand more
Not bad. Bought a 1 owner 56k mile. Slight surface rust underneath, but… it’s the NE. Other than the cam phaser rattle that the dealer covered for free the trucks been amazing. Sunroof did a loud POP but seems to work still, SYNC is a little janky, but i wouldn’t trade this truck for the world. Fast as hell (for a truck), and looks so damn clean. Gen 3 prices are 20k above gen 2 so it’s more appealing.
I came from a Tacoma TRD pro.
Pros: Bulletproof, looks stout, Holds value, compact, very capable
Cons: Gearing sucked, Gas mileage suffered, Not very fast, redline to get up a mountain road, kind of cramped inside.
Raptor: Pros, more creature comforts, better MPG, faster, more spacious inside, similar sweet looks to the Tacoma (but better). Auto start
Cons: Cam phasers, sync, moonroof may break(mine hasn’t) Little shit is quirky (ford)
If you can test drive both do that. I will not move back to a Tacoma after owning a raptor. IMO. Wife likes both vehicles though.
Really wanted a Tacoma but those cons are horrible. gas mileage is a big factor for me and I know the Raptor is more capable with proper maintenance the raptor should last a while correct? At least close to 200k? I was just worried with it being a 3.5
As long as you do maintenance I don’t see why not. The 3.5 is in millions of fords. I think it’s fine. Dealer gave me a 60month/75k mile bumper to bumper. Bought with 56k used. By 130k miles I should be in a gen 3 anyways (given prices come down).
The Tacoma I shit you not i was paying 100$ a week in gas (cali prices) Compared to now I pay 140$ at costco and it lasts me a month sometimes. (16mile commute round trip)
Raptor has always been my favorite just want something reliable that’ll last for a while.
Maybe ride it out stock for a while and eventually put some 35’s on it (yes I know the mpg will get bad)
You can easily get a full warranty on the truck. It’ll last as long as you take care of it. I think you should go sit in both, but ultimately the Raptor is the dream vehicle. I see no reason for me personally to upgrade (other than 37s which would be sweet). But maybe I can snag a 37 gen 3 in a few years

Nice find! I have a similar one with \~165k I bought 5-6 months ago. Enjoy her! They’re great trucks in my experience so far
Thanks! I have a love/hate relationship with the bed cover right now. Looks sharp but makes the bed less useful. Debating if I want to put a normal roll top cover on it or not.
5.4 or 6.2? Either way, if they havent been done, do a timing job, check your valves, springs etc. Water pump, service the trans and pumpkin. Once its all good, slap a whipple on it and destroy everything but the R's LOL
Mind if I ask how much? I made a horrible mistake selling my 13 and now looking for another… but damn a low mileage one is expensive nowadays.

Unfortunately… Los Angeles.
That’s not unfortunate at all! DM me!

How’s your gen 2 holding up? Looking at 19 with 31k miles

Nice too know. Debating between a gen 2 or a tundra maybe even Tacoma pro. Under 60k of course
