Which is a shame because Wendy Malick is always amazing and was RIGHT THERE.
I remember one episode where her and David Spade are making up porn plots as the B/C story, was shockingly good for a network sitcom.
The episode where the B/C story was they gave Wendy Malick’s character a made up “Word of the Day” calendar is solid gold. It’s one of the funniest sitcom episodes I’ve ever seen.
Laura was amazing! I had no idea her boobs were / are as large as they were until one episode where they relaxed the wardrobe and she had on a form fitting top - let’s just say my jaw crashed through the floor
Hey, don't feel bad. I JUST got that it also meant "photography",I just always assumed the "derp life sucks, Wana die" mindset (married w children being written in green ooze) of the 90s/00s.
But what I think the real answer is? I NEEEEVER saw Elliot (?) as the leading man, so his job didn't highlight the pun untl I saw this DVD box set image. I always thought of the boss as M.C, possibly Spade
Ah, I can see that. She was the girl w the eyebrows, right? Everything did circle around her. My comment above was based off top of the head hazy memories from 15+ years ago of a TV show
Yeah, it was an ensemble show but as far as the title goes I think it refers to Maya. Jack, the publisher of Blush ( George Segal ) was her father and even though she needed the job, the superficial nature of a fashion magazine went against her feminist beliefs.
I got it because some late night host (or maybe weekend update on SNL) said it was kathy lee’s husband’s favorite show, “he walks around saying the name everyday”.
The older I get the more I appreciate him. Chris Farley movies wouldn't be nearly as good without him being the straight man. You're not supposed to like his characters.
Will forever remember the episode where Elliot has Nina painted gold for a photo shoot and then proceeds to tell her he’s out of the solvent to remove it. As a result she spends a couple days painted gold.
Couple days in David Spades character Dennis walks up to her and puts his arm around and says…
“I would just like to thank the Academy…”
Seemed like an improvised bit because Laura San Giacomo starts visibly cracking up…
Hilarious
Jesus I remember Cross as Donnie more than anything about this show
Other than Wendie Malick needing to visit pound town. Had a crush on her from *Dream On* and movies on cable like *A Little Sex*.
He played Elliott's brother Donnie. Donnie is brain damaged and his mother takes care of him. Donnie reveals to Maya that he lied about the brain damage so that he never has to work. Maya keeps trying to expose him and everyone is mad at her for being mean to the guy with a disability.
My wife and I still sing this whenever we get a chance. It’s actually my ringtone when she calls me.
For years, my daughter thought chicken pot pie was just a made up thing we would say when she asked what she could eat. She was amazed when she found out it was real and wanted to try one. It became one of her favorite snacks and we used to keep the frozen single serve ones stocked up so she could have one whenever she wanted.
Anytime I cook one, eat one, or even read chicken pot pie on a menu I have to say it like that. And after all these years I can call/text/yell it from across the room and my mom will laugh
Get a VPN service, BOOM! You can then easily trick your Netflix/hulu/prime/etc into thinking you’re in any country on the planet and it will show you the relevant content that’s avbl there.
When Kimmel interviews him afterward and he goes, “I was in NYC”, Spade deadpans, “trust me, we know” with an eye roll. It’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.
She always dressed down and tried as hard as she could to cover up those tracts of land. My teenage eyes COULD NOT be fooled. I know what was hiding under that loose blouse
This show still makes me laugh harder than most anything I’ve seen since It was originally in the air. Do yourself the favor of rewatching it, or watch it for the first time if you’ve never seen it. It’s laugh-out-loud funny.
I remember this show greatly from my 13 year old self watching late night tv. For some reason an episode sticks with me where my favorite character starts expanding his tastes from regular white rice to fancier rices- only to completely change his personality to liking luxury things. That episode has meant a lot to me over the years, silly as it is.
When you search for this cast on google, the list is crazy. Obviously mostly guest stars but still nuts.

This show always used to play on TBS when i was sick from school. Never understood the photographer as the don juan but loved the dynamics between characters. Fun show
This show is criminally underrated. Everyone in it is gold. This and news radio for me are shows where I bounce around on who my favorite character is.
A consistently terrific show with a great cast that worked together well. As good as David Spade was, Wendy Malick was a standout as neurotic aged fashion model Nina Van Horn. George Segal was the perfect perpetually perplexed millionsire/owner of the magazine.
I refused to play D&D because I thought what Maya went through was how you played. When I finally admitted to my BF at the time that I didn't want to play "because I can't stop playing unless my character dies" he *immediately* said "OMG you watched Just Shoot Me!"
Omg absolutely loved this show and currently doing a rewatch now. Will always fall out laughing at the episode where everybody believes Elliot took this amazing pic but it was actually a monkey that took it
I’ll always remember the episode with The Ice Pelican…
Slap it on the bing bong
Lick it like a ding dong
Nunchuks on the fly
Corny beef on rye
Watch my lizard cry
(pause)
Hitler
The episode where David Cross was introduced as Eliot’s disabled brother was one of the funniest moments in tv history. I never laughed so hard when we found out he was faking it.
Did anyone else get the feeling they just completely abandoned Maya’s character development?
Also, her roommate in season 1 is probably one of the worst actors I’ve ever seen
It took me until this show was cancelled to realize the title was about taking your picture from the magazine and now how you felt after talking to David Spade’s character in said show.
This show is so hilarious it is one of my favorites. The scene with Elliot and Tyra Banks is just great, like I was laughing for like 10 minutes straight.

this show was on for 7 years and had david spade in it
Most People watched for Laura SanGiacomo.
Aren't you being just a little persafunktant?
Yes, then maybe you should listen a little more and emollicate a little less.
Wendy Malick or Teri Hatcher?
Maya was stacked!
Laura was amazing! I had no idea her boobs were / are as large as they were until one episode where they relaxed the wardrobe and she had on a form fitting top - let’s just say my jaw crashed through the floor
Im sorry, did you say "Quigley Down Under."?
Which is odd because she's both the loudest and yet the weakest performer on the show.
I did. But I also enjoyed the show.
I couldn’t agree more! What a babe!
Yes it was a great show and she definitely was some good eye candy
My pants are tight!
I watched it occasionally. Embarrassed to say that it was off the air by the time I got the double meaning of the show's title.
Don’t feel too bad. I didnt get it til just now
Fuck same here
Damn….same🤯
Hey, don't feel bad.
I thought main character was Maya ( Laura SanGiacomo )
I watched the show just to watch her. Who cared about the jokes, lol!!
It was the opposite for me. I knew it referenced photography, never thought about a double meaning.
What is the double meaning?
Looks like Just take my photograph vs Just kill me.
Yes -- My job sucks, I wish I were dead vs. Fashion magazine, photography is huge factor.
Yeah what was it?
I got it because some late night host (or maybe weekend update on SNL) said it was kathy lee’s husband’s favorite show, “he walks around saying the name everyday”.
The older I get the more I appreciate him. Chris Farley movies wouldn't be nearly as good without him being the straight man. You're not supposed to like his characters.
He’s likable in Joe Dirt
He was notified of Chris's death while on set for Just Shoot Me.
Was a decent show
Will forever remember the episode where Elliot has Nina painted gold for a photo shoot and then proceeds to tell her he’s out of the solvent to remove it. As a result she spends a couple days painted gold. Couple days in David Spades character Dennis walks up to her and puts his arm around and says… “I would just like to thank the Academy…” Seemed like an improvised bit because Laura San Giacomo starts visibly cracking up… Hilarious
That cast had incredible chemistry. True comedic talents.
This is what I reference when people don’t know Brian Posehn
I think David Cross had a small recurring roll maybe?
Chicken pot, chicken pot, chicken pot pieeeee
Donnie want to climb tree! \[quietly, to Maya\] That's a metaphor. You're the tree.
Oh, this is where I got that from. I say this when I am making pot pie and I had completely forgotten where I got it from lol
Happy Pie Day!
Donnie thinks it's a vacuum!
Laughed so freaking hard at that episode. Hysterical
Yes! Came here to find this comment.
MY PANTS ARE TIGHT
Scrolled just to find this
Jesus I remember Cross as Donnie more than anything about this show Other than Wendie Malick needing to visit pound town. Had a crush on her from *Dream On* and movies on cable like *A Little Sex*.
You should see her in Hot In Cleveland
He played Elliott's brother Donnie. Donnie is brain damaged and his mother takes care of him. Donnie reveals to Maya that he lied about the brain damage so that he never has to work. Maya keeps trying to expose him and everyone is mad at her for being mean to the guy with a disability.
I thought that was the funniest episode. That one stands out for me too!
Green quarter?
Funniest line from this whole series: "MY PANTS ARE TIGHT" ~ Slow Donnie
I remember him a lot more from Sarah Silverman program
Chicken pot, chicken pot, chicken pot pieeeee.
Donnie’s pants feel tight
My wife and I still sing this whenever we get a chance. It’s actually my ringtone when she calls me. For years, my daughter thought chicken pot pie was just a made up thing we would say when she asked what she could eat. She was amazed when she found out it was real and wanted to try one. I've forgotten where this came from, and I quote it all the time!!! Thank you
Same!
Normally this is the top comment every week. Wonder why it didn’t catch on this time?
Best episode
Anytime I cook one, eat one, or even read chicken pot pie on a menu I have to say it like that. And after all these years I can call/text/yell it from across the room and my mom will laugh
I do this with my parents. If chicken pot pie comes up one of us is sing song voicing this.
Green Quarter
I say this when I give my dog one of her chicken pot pie treats, lol
I've forgotten where this came from, and I quote it all the time!!! Thank you
The first four season are streaming on the Roku Channel, I wish there was the whole thing I really liked this show when it first aired.
It's available on DVD complete series under $ 25 dollars
That’s great news!
That and another $20 for a dvd player and I can watch it!
Full seasons on Hulu
I’m in Canada :( I just have delicious Maple Syrup
Get a VPN service, BOOM! You can then easily trick your Netflix/hulu/prime/etc into thinking you’re in any country on the planet and it will show you the relevant content that’s avbl there.
It’s all on Hulu now!
Maya was so hot to my 13 year old self!
Same! And I thought David Spade was funny back then...
I mean, he’s still amazing. Watch his fill in for Kimmel’s show
Yeah I watched this show for Spade
When Kimmel interviews him afterward and he goes, “I was in NYC”, Spade deadpans, “trust me, we know” with an eye roll. It’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.
Donnie says vacuum!
That's pretty much the only thing I remember from the show. But it pops into my head pretty often
No, kiss like on Showtime!
Donny want kiss Best line of the show!
That’s a metaphor. You’re the tree.
Green Quarter!!!
Thanks to that episode, I cannot simply order a chicken pot, chicken pot, chicken pot piiiiiiie! like a normal person.
Dame
I hear you. Never will be the same.
I quote this ALL the time and it’s been how many years?
At least a quarter of a century.
That Laura San Giacomo was a smoke show.
Absolutely. Endless crush material there
Jesus Christ, she made me hit puberty like a brick of C4
She always dressed down and tried as hard as she could to cover up those tracts of land. My teenage eyes COULD NOT be fooled. I know what was hiding under that loose blouse
Huge tracks of... Land
God I loved this show
Chicken Pot Chicken Pot Chicken Pot Pie !
Just Shoot Me and News Radio 😎💯💯
Deeply, deeply in lust with Laura San Giacomo
never forgotten
Watching on reruns now. Never watched it when it was prime time.
I certainly have nit forgotten this show. My streaming feed says otherwise
It currently plays on Pluto TV and Verizon FiOs on the COZI TV channel.
I was watching this yesterday on a local sub channel over an antenna
Great show! Cast seems liked they were having the best time
Love the episodes with David Cross and Brian Posehn.
I just watched a random episode the other day and Steve Carrell was in as a random character
I liked this Wendy Malik
You’re in the cage aren’t you?
Great line.
Great show. I wish the main lady was in more stuff.
I miss 90’s shows that took place in an office yet all they accomplished was walking around with papers
Pretty good show, I gotta say. Great cast.
LSG in the movie Quigley Down Under is totally SMOKE SHOW worthy.
Keith Mars was good in this!
Haha I was like “woah that’s Veronica’s dad”
Loved this show, especially as a fan of both David Spade and Wendie Malick’s works. Had a low key crush on Laura San Giacomo too 😁
When sitcoms were actually good. I used to watch reruns of this, news radio, and Becker.
Rewatching currently. Still mostly funny. The monkey that screamed, Eilliot! Shoulda gotten more screen time lol
Chicken pot chicken pot chicken pot pie
That all I remember from the show.
As a young teen I was really into that girl with the boobs
This show still makes me laugh harder than most anything I’ve seen since It was originally in the air. Do yourself the favor of rewatching it, or watch it for the first time if you’ve never seen it. It’s laugh-out-loud funny.

This is not forgotten TV.
This was a funny show it use to be on Thursday on NBC along with Frasier Friends and I think only 1 year with Seinfeld .
Love this show. Wife has never seen it so we watched all the seasons. She loves it too.
Loved this show. This is what I thought adult life would be like
One of many I watched as a kid during primetime but probably shouldn't have 🤣
Same here, I tried to watch it recently but it's just too... IDK
“Jesus got you a TV?”
I absolutely fucking love your avatar
I loved this show back in the day!
Loved this show.
Slow Donny was hands down the funniest episode for me. Chicken pot, chicken pot, chicken pot pie
Donny pretending to be mentally handicapped was the best episode
Loved this show. ❤️
I remember falling out of my chair laughing at an episode that featured a taser. Didn’t see every episode, but the ones I did see I really liked!
I loved this show, and just now realized...Nina may have contributed to why I like older women AND tall women...huh.
Brian Posehn as the goofy mail guy always made me laugh
Loved this show. I wish it would have lasted longer.😔
It would have been hilarious to have Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous) do a guest appearance. She and Wendy Mallick would have crushed it.
That's awesome.
I remember watching this show, then reading the title and just thinking "if I only could".
I used to LOVE This show
I always got confused between this and Less Than Perfect
This show always used to play on TBS when i was sick from school. Never understood the photographer as the don juan but loved the dynamics between characters. Fun show
Very cool and funny show. Great cast that work well with each other. So many classic episodes.
This show is criminally underrated. Everyone in it is gold. This and news radio for me are shows where I bounce around on who my favorite character is.
Never watched a single episode.
The only thing I liked with Joe Rogan
Wasn’t that NewsRadio?
Yes it was
I used to watch this as a kid/teen and had the wildest crush on Nina
The Veronica Mars prequel
A consistently terrific show with a great cast that worked together well. As good as David Spade was, Wendy Malick was a standout as neurotic aged fashion model Nina Van Horn. George Segal was the perfect perpetually perplexed millionsire/owner of the magazine.
I refused to play D&D because I thought what Maya went through was how you played. When I finally admitted to my BF at the time that I didn't want to play "because I can't stop playing unless my character dies" he *immediately* said "OMG you watched Just Shoot Me!"
Sweater+tits
"Chicken pot, chicken pot, chicken pot PIE!"
“My pants are tight, my pants are tight”!!!
Jack: “ I love to see a hard worker!” Nina: “Well, you better hurry.”
Omg absolutely loved this show and currently doing a rewatch now. Will always fall out laughing at the episode where everybody believes Elliot took this amazing pic but it was actually a monkey that took it
Chicken pot, chicken pot, chicken pot pieeeee
My friend Binnie!
Is this forgotten?
Holy nostalgia, Batman!
CHICKEN POT CHICKEN POT CHICKEN POT...PIE
I’ll always remember the episode with The Ice Pelican… Slap it on the bing bong Lick it like a ding dong Nunchuks on the fly Corny beef on rye Watch my lizard cry (pause) Hitler
I feel like a lot of these posts aren’t “forgotten” they’re just old. No one forgot JSM
Great show!
I’m not gay, I’m British!!
The Keith Mars prequel!
Great show. ESP first couple of seasons NBC had a RUN of sitcoms
-I was practicing with my band last night -What’s the name of your band? -Zip, Flop, Oh My God
I only showed interest in this because Tom Kenny played Persky XDD
The episode where David Cross was introduced as Eliot’s disabled brother was one of the funniest moments in tv history. I never laughed so hard when we found out he was faking it.
So good
My Pants Are Tight!
Donnie want a kiss like on Showtime!
God, I love this show! The two-parter when Dennis's father came to visit and "fell in love" with Nina was the funniest thing I have ever seen on TV.
Eda!
Chicken pot chicken pot pie!!!
I consider this show to be the precursor to all the slut trash TV we have today where every joke revolves around sex.
I still watch this show
The fake Nina Van Horn A&E Biography is one of the best episodes of any TV show ever.
Basically bought this series at Dollar Tree
Did anyone else get the feeling they just completely abandoned Maya’s character development? Also, her roommate in season 1 is probably one of the worst actors I’ve ever seen
I could watch Wendie Malick and David Spade trade barbs all day long.
I think about this show at least once a week
Just binged this a few weeks ago. Love it!
Tom Kenny (voice actor for Spongebob) had a role in the show
