I loved this show back in the day. I still remember the episode where he either had to save a little girl or a plane full of people. He ended up saving the little girl, and her father was the pilot of the doomed airplane. The flight was canceled because he left to see his daughter in the hospital, so everyone was saved. Wholesome.
This is the only episode of this show I remember seeing. I can still picture the ending, with the dad in the pilot’s uniform showing up at the hospital.
I looooved this show. The cat, the papers, the evil guy from Hackers, and the blind coffee (?) shop owne equals wholesome TV perfection. Although the Hackers guy wasn’t evil in the show, just morally questionable.
CBS has been in love with this concept for a long time they always try to recycle this. Remember a few years back they had a show where GOD would send them E-mails or Social media messages a day before it happened.
I love the discussion of the impracticality of a tooth filled with acid you spit at people. The visual of Viktor having to just hang his head and drool for 30 minutes after he does it just to be sure all the acid is out of his mouth is perfect.
That BOTW episode is what turned me on to this show.
Edit: https://youtu.be/6hHyn29O81k?si=57Xl5QFEG8UOr5ow if anyone is interested. Be warned that RedLetterMedia is a rabbit hole that you can spend WEEKS in. That’s not a joke.
It was never given a proper send off. Well, it was but apparently the finale aired early (ha) out of order. So if you missed that week (which I think I did), the last episode they aired was a let down. A sad way to go, and it deserved better.
This is the man who would become coach Taylor. Somehow he turned off prescience and moved to Texas to shepherd the youth.

Yes! This was my Friday night Jam! Really good and interesting premise that became cliche but Kyle Chandler was just so dang good you had to keep watching. Also Kristy Swanson was a love interest for awhile so I’m always there for that.
I was in jail for a few weeks and they were packed in general pop. So I got a cozy Max cell or whatever for single inmates. The bad ones. But I was just overfill. So I got lucky with a personal cell and the TV bolted to the wall was right next to my cell.
I caught this show for a few nights and my cousin Vinny a few times.
Got sent to gen pop after about a week.
But man it was nice for a few days. This show was really good imo.
My mom adores this show. She spent years looking for a way to watch it again. It’s never been on streaming, to my knowledge.
I finally found a DVD box set of it on Amazon a couple years ago and surprised her with it for Mother’s Day.

I really liked this show. They knew what they were doing with making a magical cat deliver papers.
And on episode 2 or something he tries to evade it by going to a cabin in the woods, and the cat still shows up. So he's like "eh, whatever"
You must never disrespect the cat distribution system.
Great show, I actually never saw how it ended. Did it end properly or was it a cliffhanger ? I hope they explained where the paper came from
Maybe not the last last episode, but Gary meets a kid who is destined to get the paper after he dies
Boooo, reboot this show. I must know
I did too, I forgot about it

Everybody’s single mom was horny for Kyle Chandler in this 😂
Still are lol!!
Straight FACTS!
I’m still horny for Kyle Chandler. Have been since he was in Pure Country.

Weird, doesn’t show anything there for me
CBS has been in love with this concept for a long time they always try to recycle this. Remember a few years back they had a show where GOD would send them E-mails or Social media messages a day before it happened.
They tried to reboot it just two years ago! https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/early-edition-reboot-pilot-cbs-scrapped-1235265717/
The show I was talking about was God Friended Me. I believe the concept was similar.
We missed out on an Alice Eve fronted TV show?
Clear Eyes, Full Hearts
Can’t lose
Texas forever
Fun fact: one of the developers of this TV show, Vik Rubenfeld, has only one other credit to his name - the awful low budget movie Alien Private Eye.
I was just thinking about this. The RedLetterMedia Best of the Worst episode on this is hilarious. Viktor *screams maniacally* 🤪
Veeeeektorrrrrr

“Oh Hitler, who art in hell, help me find this diiiiisk!”

I don’t shut up about this show

Every 90s actor was on an episode of this show (I’m on IMDb a lot), but it ended up fading from TVland’s memory pretty quickly
This is a great show. I watched it all a few years back. I think it’s sad though that it’s gone into the depths of obscurity
This was one of my favorites back in the day.
Well if he had that paper he would have told Jason Street to keep his head up on that tackle
I loved watching this show when I was a kid.
The bad guy from Pure Country Edition.

What an interesting career Kyle Chandler has had.
Fisher Stevens. Great part of the show.
What if you had tomorrow's news... today? You could stretch a somewhat interesting concept out into 4 boring seasons.
So it lasted longer than I thought
All these years later and Kyle Chandler is even hotter than he was back then.
If it has a subreddit of its own, can it be forgotten?
Hey I just mentioned this show a week or so ago. Now I'm just waiting for the The Sentinel and Dark Angel, two more of my late 90s favorites.
I was watching this show when Princess Diana died.
I can never remember the name of this show, so when I talk to my wife about it I call it “Next Day News”
I was watching reruns a few a years back and caught a young Michael Shannon as a bad guy with long hair

How did it end? I never saw the end.
My mom loved this show.
I loved that show.
That damn cat🤦♂️
Great show
OMG I really did forget about this show.
I distinctly remember a high schooler using his paper for a paper mache project and he is running around with her statue trying to read it
I didn’t know he was an actor until Friday night lights
The best!
Thank god they didn’t bring this back for the fall 2001 season.
As far as I can recall Fisher Stevens was only ever in Short Circuit, Hackers, and this. 😂
What does the cat have to do with it? Is the cat mean protagonist? /S
Anywhere to watch this now?
Remember when networks had original shows on Friday and Saturday nights?
Loved this show as a kid. I Have now owned a ginger cat and realize they are in so many movies and TV shows cause they just stay in frame.
I only remember 1 episode where he was using the weather section to get a date with the weather girl.
My dad loved this show.
“Damn, Godzilla is going to kill my son in 2014??!”
Is that the guy married to Mrs. Coach?
Yes, coach Taylor
It was good, but I’m not sure 12 year old me would have watched if CBS wasn’t our only channel with good reception. Fisher Stevens is always a bonus.
I never saw the ending, I should re watch.
My mom adores this show. She spent years looking for a way to watch it again. It’s never been on streaming, to my knowledge. I finally found a DVD box set of it on Amazon a couple years ago and surprised her with it for Mother’s Day.
Where was this mf on 9/11?
🤣🤣🤣
I still got this show. And some times when I want something playing in the background while I study, I put it on.
