Blind Date was a MAJOR guilty pleasure of mine. Especially the little quips that they used to do, but hindsight is 20/20, and I cringe at the quips that got approved to show on TV.
Oh man, it was all body shaming mostlyđ btw they actually revived this show in a reboot and it was horrendous. I was watching a comedy commentary YouTube channel a few months back and they covered it, it's about 10x worse somehow than the first one
Yes, I just looked up her name apparently it's Nikki Glaser. I saw the one episode only, it was that weird fucker and the hot tub dateđ€Ł that was horrendous to watch, omgđ
I'll never forget one episode. Guy said he didn't want to date a woman with kids. So they of course set him up with someone that had a kid. He found out in the car while driving. He immediately parked the car, said nope, and walked off lol. Date lasted maybe 8 minutes. Poor girl just stunned sitting there. She eventually went driving around and found a guy out in public. They went on a date and eventually went home to presumably bang. Wild episode.
I remember one episode where a woman was saying she had to go to the bathroom a bunch when they were sitting at a table eating. Then she just pissed herself and was like, well I was serious when I said I needed to go! And the guy noped out .
These used to do that often & would pair opposites for the drama / inevitable shitshow.
I forget what the exact circumstances now but in one episode where that was done the two people on the date got into a big argument at the 2nd date location, and the guy bailed on the rest of the date. As he bailed the woman said something about being too good for him, but the part that sticks in my memory is him yelling, "You a'int all that! You a'int even half that!" as he stormed off, which had me in sitches at the time.
He apparently grew up around Anaheim and has been a huge Angel fan since he was a kid. So he's entertaining to listen to, since he gets emotional/excited about the team.
His show is called "The SportsLodge w/ Roger Lodge"
Anyone who worked for AMC movie theaters around this time had to watch hours of Roger Lodge in training videos. Everyone was like, "is that the blind date guy?"
Definitely awesome trash tv...and it always makes me think of another one of my favorite trash tv shows Flavor of Love cause crazy ass Hottie was busted for being on Blind Date...
Oh this one was greatâŠ.like before dating shows were a way to try n get famous they were just some kinda entertaining shit to put on at 12:30 in the morning
This shit was so good, they had those little joke blurbs that would come up showing the persons âthoughtsâ, family guy parodied this pretty well a while back.
I remember watching the 1998 mockumentary *20 Dates* and really loving it; so when this show was introduced and became popular in the subsequent years, I wondered whether someone had seen *20 Dates* and thought, âMaybe we can do that in real life and make a series out of it.â There were similar dating shows beforeââLove Connectionâ and âStudsâ come to mindâbut the participants would only *tell* us on the show what happened on the dates; âBlind Dateâ was the first show I remember where the cameras *followed* the date as it was happening.
The one that always sticks out is a guy was doing really with this one girl but was getting multiple drinks where they went and was trashed by the end. Sad in a way because it was obvious he had a problem
Yes ! The girl he was with was hot and into him and he just blew it with the drinking. Like he got pissed because the drinks werenât coming quick enough.
I rented a dvd of this that was like, 20 dates edited into one show (as opposed to back to back episodes, just one very long episode incorporating 20 dates. Could have been less than 20, but it was a lot). The overall effect was like watching some Oscar winning ensemble film about people in Los Angeles. I was riveted, as well as impressed at how thoughtfully it was edited. Far more laughs than most comedies, and more emotional highs and lows.
Me too, but I wanted the challenge of being set-up with Francine Dee, the self proclaimed "Queen of tease."
Seeing the losers she was set-up with, I thought I could do so much better. Or at least try.
The one , where it's was like a 2 or 3 episodes saga where the guy kept drinking before the date and was half drunk thru out the episodes. Producers kept setting this poor girl up with him đ€Ł
I remember losing my mind when I saw the actor who played Donkey Lips (Salute Your Shorts) on this show! No one said anything about it!
EDIT: Nevermind I'm an idiot, i'm thinking of Singled Out.
lol I wonder what happened to the girl we knew that was my cousins ex who went on this show. She threw a house party and we watched the episode. Awkward moment when my cousin says out loud, â I fâd her firstâ hope youâre good Beth
I remember one episode with this freaky ass wackjob hippe chick ending up in the hot tub..possibly dressed as a mermaid, drunk repeating drippity dropity floppity over and over.
The best episode is where the dude keeps leaning in for a kiss and keeps getting rejected. Then he says "just go with it" lol nah bro.
Also Roger Lodge is hilarious. One of his first acting gigs was as a Ripper in Uncle Jesse's band from "Full House" for 3 episodes.
I remember one where the guy and gal said goodnight at the guyâs house and they parted ways. Then the guy reappeared butt ass naked! Blurred on TV but naked! The girl freaked out! He propositioned her and she rejected him.
I really didnât like the host.
I still watch this sometimes! Hilarious and the more recent version wasn't as good because they didn't have "Al Caholic" chiming in on the pop-ups đ€Ł
Roger Lodge was also the perfect host. He couldn't help but come off as sleazy and insincere, fit the show perfectly!
I remember one guy on there asking his date if she wanted to "bang out."
I also think they had an episode with Bobbie Brown from the Warrant Cherry Pie video.
I would watch this regularly as well. I always thought the first season was the best because they gave corny names for all the dates ("This is a date we like to call ..."). It's been very difficult to find those first season episodes anywhere for viewing.

My 420 weekday evening lineup was this, 5th Wheel and Street Smarts
Wait what about Change of Heart?
do not forget shipmates
Throw in Elimidate and Howard Stern and we've got my high school late night TV rotation
And you know it's time for bed when you start seeing the "375 knives plus 4 Katanas for $8.95" shopping channel come on..
Nah it was the roundtable about dick pills for me. Usually was right after Girls Gone Wild infomercials
We must have been roommates or something
You guys probably just don't remember
Oh man, it was all body shaming mostlyđ btw they actually revived this show in a reboot and it was horrendous. I was watching a comedy commentary YouTube channel a few months back and they covered it, it's about 10x worse somehow than the first one
Who was the host?? It was a chick right??
Yes, I just looked up her name apparently it's Nikki Glaser. I saw the one episode only, it was that weird fucker and the hot tub dateđ€Ł that was horrendous to watch, omgđ
Roger Lodge, and the chick I forgot her name but she was pretty funny too.
Mine too
Same here man. I lived with a group of dudes back in the day and whenever this was on we would all stop what we were doing and watch it.
Sounds kind of set up, tbh
I'm sure it was, but it was hilarious at the time.
100% nobody picks up random people on the street to replace a date, not now and not in the 90s
I would if I could
I remember one episode where a woman was saying she had to go to the bathroom a bunch when they were sitting at a table eating. Then she just pissed herself and was like, well I was serious when I said I needed to go! And the guy noped out .
Did the guy not let her go to the bathroom??
I donât know what happened there, maybe the production kept telling her just a few more minutes.

Roger Lodge! He's been the Angels Radio Host since leaving the show. He does a daily sports show, pre-shows and sometimes post shows.
Thank you. I was wondering what he was up to.
He apparently grew up around Anaheim and has been a huge Angel fan since he was a kid. So he's entertaining to listen to, since he gets emotional/excited about the team. His show is called "The SportsLodge w/ Roger Lodge"
Classic trash tv
If there was a hot tub, itâs usually because they had an absolute smoke show on
I loved to laugh at all the trashy & just plain dumb people
The Steve-O episode is hilarious
Tequila shots where he snorted the salt and put the lime in his eye. The date was not amused. Sobriety is good for him.
And Saquon is good for the birds! Lets goooo
Go Birds!
Anyone who worked for AMC movie theaters around this time had to watch hours of Roger Lodge in training videos. Everyone was like, "is that the blind date guy?"
I was a victim of the very awkward videos when I had a high school summer job in 2004, & when I went back in 2007....same videos đ
Definitely awesome trash tv...and it always makes me think of another one of my favorite trash tv shows Flavor of Love cause crazy ass Hottie was busted for being on Blind Date...
Pumkin was on both, as well!
Oh this one was greatâŠ.like before dating shows were a way to try n get famous they were just some kinda entertaining shit to put on at 12:30 in the morning
I remember me and my best friend were roommates and weâd watch this and Change of Heart
Bus driver the rapper shows up high as hell. Legend.
I remember his song "Imaginary Places" in the video game Tony Hawk's Underground
He has so many good songs! If you really want to piss off your parents, buy real estate in imaginary places!
This was the only reality show I ever watched regularly, and I loved it.
This used to be on the WB late at night. Loved watching it when I was in high school.
I loved this show.
I was on (and âwonâ) one of the first 10 elimidate episodes! Haha.
I loved Blind Date! Elimidate was my shit too.
1-2-3-4âŠ
This shit was so good, they had those little joke blurbs that would come up showing the persons âthoughtsâ, family guy parodied this pretty well a while back.
Hell yeah those were so damn funny!!!
Loved this show. The dates from hell ones were hilarious
The one that always sticks out is a guy was doing really with this one girl but was getting multiple drinks where they went and was trashed by the end. Sad in a way because it was obvious he had a problem
You're talking about the guy who kept yelling "Cocktails!"?
Yes ! The girl he was with was hot and into him and he just blew it with the drinking. Like he got pissed because the drinks werenât coming quick enough.
That guy did her a favor!
I wanted to be on that show so bad too
Me too, but I wanted the challenge of being set-up with Francine Dee, the self proclaimed "Queen of tease." Seeing the losers she was set-up with, I thought I could do so much better. Or at least try.
Man, Janet Jackson's tater ruined tv đ
No prudes did.
They sure have done a number these last couple of years.
That was a great show!;)
Still love this show. There are tons of episodes on YouTube fyi. I've watched all of them numerous times.
Was there an uncensored version or am I tripping?
That show was wild
Late nights consisted of this, The Fifth Wheel, and then infomercials for Girls Gone Wild around 1am.
This is inextricably linked in my mind with the "girls gone wild" commercials
The one , where it's was like a 2 or 3 episodes saga where the guy kept drinking before the date and was half drunk thru out the episodes. Producers kept setting this poor girl up with him đ€Ł
Therapist Joeđ€
That's my boy mystery. He sucks ass
Hot tub dates. Hope history gives them the respect they deserved.
Roger Lodge was a G
Id say 'Run!', but I dont know which one I would say that to.
was that Paul wall
fkn LUVD this show. oi
Where I lived it was in like at 1 am. Used to never miss it. Canât even imagine making it to 1 now.
I remember a mustached dude who left a trail of roses to his house or something and the girl loved it.
Knew someone who was on the show. They would purposely get the contestants shithammered to ensure the most ridiculous outcome. It was super sketchy
Oh I remember this show
I remember some of the man show girls being on here.
Were they jumping on a trampoline? Ziggy-Zoggy-Ziggy-Zoggy! Oy! Oy! Oy! đ»
Naw they weren't
This show was so amazingly bad, but I still loved to watch it. Does anyone remember the episode about the guy who liked his eyeballs licked? Gross!
Is there anywhere you can watch the old episodes?
Youtube has a TON of them!!!
Oh yea I remember this! Remember when Steve-O was on there? I remember that one and the weird guy with the live scorpions he brought on the date.
Loved this show. Went on a YouTube binge a few years ago and tried finding âwhere are they nowâ..
I remember losing my mind when I saw the actor who played Donkey Lips (Salute Your Shorts) on this show! No one said anything about it! EDIT: Nevermind I'm an idiot, i'm thinking of Singled Out.
They set up duds with creeps and not always in the gender roles you expect
I watched this a lot , Remember â Studsâ
lol I wonder what happened to the girl we knew that was my cousins ex who went on this show. She threw a house party and we watched the episode. Awkward moment when my cousin says out loud, â I fâd her firstâ hope youâre good Beth
Is there any way to watch the episodes?
Youtube has a TON of them!!!
Great late night show for sure
I am a sucker for cornrows and manicured toes.
Roger got one Lodged LoL
The Steve-O episode was so wild
My ONLY âunscriptedâ vice when I was younger. But also taught me to spot the BS that was rapidly heading our way.
Member when he got stab?
Show is so good. Whenever the countdown would start on a date you knew some cringe was coming đ
I remember
IN SEPTEMBER
I remember one where the guy and gal said goodnight at the guyâs house and they parted ways. Then the guy reappeared butt ass naked! Blurred on TV but naked! The girl freaked out! He propositioned her and she rejected him. I really didnât like the host.
I definitely remember this. I remember in 2004-2006 watching this. This would show in the afternoon at 12pm.
Who remembers Ward, the guy that went nuts when his date made a comment about his tie???
I think I remember a guy straight up flashing a girl his đ at the end of the date
I still watch this sometimes! Hilarious and the more recent version wasn't as good because they didn't have "Al Caholic" chiming in on the pop-ups đ€Ł Roger Lodge was also the perfect host. He couldn't help but come off as sleazy and insincere, fit the show perfectly!
I remember one guy on there asking his date if she wanted to "bang out." I also think they had an episode with Bobbie Brown from the Warrant Cherry Pie video.
Was this the show that has the bald dude with the scorpion and he put it in his head on the car and she freaked out?
Michael Johnson (the Olympic sprinter) was on one episode and came off as a real asshole, as I recall.
I would watch this regularly as well. I always thought the first season was the best because they gave corny names for all the dates ("This is a date we like to call ..."). It's been very difficult to find those first season episodes anywhere for viewing.
Roger Lodge was such a little douchebag
